Dawn of Victory is a modification currently in development for the RTS/4X game; Sins of a Solar Empire. It is a “total conversion” replacing the games original models, textures, UI elements, and gameplay to create an entirely new and original experience.
It is our goal with Dawn of Victory to “maintain depth, but shift focus”, taking the things that made Sins of a Solar Empire a truly enjoyable game, and apply them to a different set of rules.
Above all, the team behind Dawn of Victory is committed to only releasing a product we can be proud of. While we pride ourselves on the quality of our art assets and aesthetics changes, we hope the true value of our mod is the unique and engaging gameplay.
The storyline behind Dawn of Victory was originally little more than an excuse to create what we thought would be a unique and fantastic backdrop for the game. Loosely based on the “WorldWar” series of books by Harry Turtledove, we wanted to take the atmosphere that made World War II games so compelling, and transport it into a space opera setting.
Over time however, our backstory has grown into an expansive universe, spanning over 300 years of alternate history. Our community driven wiki, dedicated to the story behind the mod has grown to over 500 pages, with hundreds of individual contributors.
The Democratic Federation combines the best elements of the American, Andrean, British and French fleets. Large numbers of specialized ships are available, and when properly coordinated, become effective against nearly every threat.
Applicants should be familiar with normal and specular maps and have a commitment to detail. The art direction of the mod calls for mostly realistic texturing with some room for stylistic exaggerations; experience with generating "greeble" and weathering are a must. Texture resolutions range from 1024 square to 4096 square.

there's no difference between "rebellion compatibility" and the mod being for rebellion. we're not going to release a multiplayer mod for two different versions of the game.
We? So are you part of the mod team? My question is would this mod work with Rebellion. It has a single player campaign and of course sins is also largely single player based so ho could you call it only a "multiplayer" mod? That doesn't make sense.
Simple question, will it work with Rebellion?
Oh my God valderaz...can you not fucking read? Go farther back in the damn forums and find out the answer to your own damned questions. It has already been discussed like 900 times...Seriously, no one answer this valderaz guy, make him find the answer himself.Valderaz, come back when you understand at least a little bit of sins modding.
Hey FredLed if we need you to speak for us we'll kill ourselves out of shame for having sunk so low.
Did I just end up in alternate history where a mod set in the future of an alternate history is now focusing on a single player campaign instead of a strategic multiplayer experience without functioning AI.
in 2006, the dov mod team and its associates built a 1.2 million square foot facility in the remote alaskan wilderness dedicated to pure research by some of the world's top video game scientists.
The facility, "Semper Games O.M.E.G.A.", reported to us ("us" being Definitely Not The Mod Team But Some Other Guys Posting About What The Mod Team Has Decided To Do) in late 2009 a breakthrough: by compressing several hundred tons of supercooled gas into a magnetic torus, it was possible to make several gameplay changes to video game "Sins of a Solar Empire" that would make the already anemic, stagnant AI behave even more poorly, and thus bill it as a mod ("video game modification" for laymen) for people to play against each other instead of the AI. this was done, of course, for no good reason: it was cackling malevolence, although some in the project believed doing so might be beneficial to developing a mod that had unique gameplay rather than just being Sins with new models.
as was expected by a few brilliant, exceptional geniuses, these changes, such as "making the resource system different", made playing it a lot more fun to play against each other, because it wasn't the same as Sins. the downside was that several months afterward we were found out by hundreds of idiots who broke in and began eating our personnel, making groaning demands to an uncaring, unmerciful god for a single player version as they made their way deeper and deeper into the complex. it has taken them months to clear out the facility's security systems and automated defense towers. here we are today
"Prophesied".
As the leader of the New Berlin Grammar Nazi Nationalist Movement, I felt obligated to point this out.
im ruined!
Wow this community is really full of immaturity. I asked a SIMPLE question that requires a SIMPLE answer. This could have happened in one post instead of 5 posts that achieved nothing. So no need to ATTACK me. Really. Pathetic. You guys really need to work on maturity and growing up. Looks like my support for a mod is now not happening.
I'm afraid you had the misfortune of inquiring about a mod that is infamous about being only for original Sins and only for multiplayer. I don't know where you got the single player campaign idea from. All the ranting about it being multiplayer only and not being released has lead to the DoV guys having a very peculiar way of dealing with the ignorance and or whining of people wanting to play it. Their decades in prison with their fellow communists have taught them to take amusement at the expense of others where ever they can find it, among other nasty things we will not get into...
Normally Swiss Knight I would take your comment as an insult. But seeing as how the FredLed only resides in the deepest pits of the earth, there is no way you could sink any lower.
You don't really "get" words do you.
Damn and to think we could have had some guy who can't figure out anything supporting us.
And this is why I love these forums
we have so much love and contentment abounding everywhere
Swiss Knight...such hostility, why wouldn't I "get" words?
KrdaxDrkrun...Don't rock the boat.
I am officially posting in this thread so that it will appear in "My Replies"....
sorry our last smuggling expedition went wrong and were posting this trapped behind the border with $3 million in drugs. hes understandably bitter and i think hes been dipping into our cache
what boat?
KrdaxDrkrun: Don't make waves.
Everything being what it is, I'm eagerly awaiting the day this multilayer mod will be complete and released. It is an interesting plot that has been created for this mod to exist in and the ways in which the development team has described changing the core game mechanics is intriguing. At the very least it looks awesome.
Just saying.
And then I shall convert it over for Rebellion use for my friends Lan parties....
And yes, just posting to have it in my list of potential mods.
So... how long have you guys been working on this TC? 2? 4 years?
I know good things take time. Like Blue Planet for example.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giHoisIEXD8
Been waiting for the voice acting to finish for nearly two years. But good things take time, especially when provided for free.
So.... when's the full release?
Oh my God...I hate you people...Leuthesius, take a guess when you think it will be released.
