Good Morning,
In case you aren't familiar with me, I'm the project lead for the UberFix, a mod for Demigod that is working to fix bugs in the 1.20.0214 version of Demigods. I'm trying to find a good way to change the text in Demigod and be consistent across English and non-English versions of the game. The problem is that I don't know how non-English versions of Demigod are different from the English version (the one I have).
If you have a non-English version of Demigods could you describe the tooltip and text changes that occurred in the most recent patch to Demigods. More specifically, can you tell me what language the tooltips for Oculus and Demon Assasin are in?
Note to English users: I have looked at the other localization files for strings_db.lua, so I know what the original non-English files contain. What I need to know is if other languages have updates that are different than the English version.
Thanks,
Ptarth
Edit: The problem has been identified and solved. Please read below for details.
I figured you guys wouldn't see this until today. I also figured that this was something that might require a patch from GPG instead of being something you could put out as a minor update. Great stuff if you guys can steam it out as fix though without requiring a new build.
Hard to say which end the fix will be on since it's a loc issue. That's one of the things I brought up internally already Friday night.
Given that it is an issue only for the Russian version, doesn't the issue fall to Atari, since they are the world wide publisher (sans North America) or GPG since they are the developers?
Atari does not distribute in Russia, that falls to Snowball/1C. However Snowball has permitted free distribution of the Rus loc on Impulse, so it stands to reason we could fix it on our end without involvement from them or GPG. Still too early to say for sure though.
Thanks for all the good background info again, kryo.
By the way would it be possible to Sticky this in the mean time? I hosted a game and left it on alluding to the solution here... Bump
Hey kryo
If you not too busy I would like to ask why has the observer mode and no stats reckording been disable in lobbyOptions.lua at
dgdata\lua\ui\lobby
Im tryin to get it working again since the code is there.
Is it causing any issues? Or was it just test drive and they actually dont work. Thanks a lot if you post
Re; kryo
Thanks again for keeping us in the loop.
Re: Usefulness of patch
To be honest, this flaw affects a very small proportion of games. It only affects players who use the Russian Language localization. It will only affect their games when the Forces of Light are dominating the game and also allow the Forces of Dark to recapture a flag. It is troublesome sure, but not that prevalent. This was one of the reasons for the limited belief in the existence of the bug in the first place.
I really couldn't say, that'd be a GPG question.
Oh man, we can have an observer mod?
I played a game with Chemdude08 tonight and we had the error and all conditions were met...but I am concerned because the only foreigner (non-US/England) player was admittedly from Germany. Did someone mention that other versions of the game run on the Russian code with subtitles?
yes irek and I are working on it right now. We'll update you as we find stuff out.
Adding to that, we're gonna check to see if the "AI HP" option actually does things
i was kinda wondering about that as well... i think it does something before games start if ai are in it... but not if a player drops from the game.
You sure about that pfizzy? I know my sides TB was fine,, but our rook was inept and may have very well been from russia? hermb or something... Btw thanks for being such a good sport the past few games and we'll have to play a round on the same side soon here...
I know your TB, he's from Atlanta, Georgia. Your rook was the only one I didn't know. And he was the one that said he was from Germany. I asked him at the beginning of the game.
I'd like to think I'm a pretty good sport. And we'll definitely get one in where you're not schooling me in the art of feeding an erebus.
You guys should higher ptarth.
The End.
You should learn how to spell hire.
Dat wuz meen roar.
Hi guys!
I just wanted to note that there is also a German localized version (voices included) of the game, which can be bought in retail shops in Germany. I don't know if there are any other localized versions.
edit: Great job in tracking down that bug!
