I'm big fan of civ4. I bought a new pc with windows 7 64 bit home edition with all the trimmings, when i installed civ4 from my CD it installed fine, then when I run to play the game, a pop up window shows up saying there is a compatibility issue and then it stops running.
My other games work fine including rail road tycoon by sid Meier which has similar specs to Civ4 its just this one and it happens to be my favourite, I checked the Civ4 forum but did not find any usueful tips i was wondering if anyone here knows if there is a solution.

If you haven't tried it already, you can right click the .exe file for the game, click properties, then go to the compatibility tab and play with the settings.
The .exe will probably be in something like this C:\Program Files\Name of Game Maker\Bin\civ4.exe
I've had similar problems with running old(er) games in Vista.
So you patched it of-course right? Since all you said was installed, then ran.
No i havnt patched it but will give it a go.Thanx
