This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament.
Current status: WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God
Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010.
Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.
Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.
Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.
Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010
Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches. Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played. Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.
There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled. It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums. For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:
Atma + Ba: trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST. Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works. I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent.
Something like that. If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.
Here is the FINAL bracket - UPDATED 6/5/2010
Tournament Rules:
How will we handle crashes:
If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match. If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark). If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win. If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision. Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.
How we will handle invalid game states:
The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match. In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes. If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review. If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though. We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it. If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof. Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review.
Prizes:
Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions. The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200. If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment. If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference. My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.
Please thank our contributors and consider contributing to the prize yourself.

3v3 sounds like allot of fun serious competition or not. But if its to promote DG and not for money why don't we just do it like we would in grade school; get everyone together that wants to play, make captains out of the best players and have them pick their team. It could be a really good chance for people to learn from better players and bring the overall level of play around the community up. It would also ensure that the tournament is very competitive in all games. that said im all for playing with my friends so idc how we make it happen as along as it does.
Can't wait to see the replays from this round got some good match ups. And what is this an uncounterable combo? this i have to see.
3v3's would be a nice change in the next tourney. The biggest issue with a 3v3 tourney is getting teams together to face each other will be harder due to the inflated number of 6 people all having to be sitting on a computer at the same time.
One of the good things about this tournament was since it was only two people you could regulate the gods they used more and the combo's they can be used in, it would be much harder sitting and drawing a list up of combo's in 3 v 3. That or it would have to be an anything goes setup, not that I mind really, 3 v 3 would be fun but people have trouble getting in games as it is, but it would be good if executed.
I pledge allegiance to 2vs2 as being the most strategic and most intense games
renz, mith when are you guys free to play?
3v3 tourney all tier 1 dgs, no double general, easy.
I'm out
Me too.
Actually, depends on how my German supervisor reacts when I tell him I haven't been doing anything for a month but I got the scholarship I applied for. I'm hoping one good news will cancel out with the other bad news. If not, then I might have to disappear forever.
Hey.. we would like community opinion on this game. Kalel / me think that it's our game, Orcun / Shane think it's theirs. Shane dc's late right when Kalel ports to get giants, Orcun says they have the gold to get giants right @ 10 (slightly behind in ws). I can post why we think we should have won if Shane / Orcun want to post why they think they would have won, or we can leave it up to the community to decide. Anyway, the replay is worth watching, all of us think it was well played, and there were 0 deaths @ the dc (but several close calls).
Please watch and make your decision and say why: Kalel / Rawr win, Orcun / Shane win, or too close to call.
Edit (Correct replay) : http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod/replays.php?game=51&show=details&id=126665
I'll watch when I get home tomorrow, but why not play your 2nd game.
But yeah you posted up the wrong replay.
It was very good game that unfortunately got ruined due to disconnect late game.Very well played all.I think it's fair for both teams to say what they think so, there we go.
We think that we did have an advantage due to these reasons:
-We were level 14 while they were 13 at the dc and Ub getting acclimation at 15 makes a big difference.
- We are 300-350 WS below giants and by trading journey and hulbark with banded we can access giants.
-After giants and cats are in the game, it's much harder for rook to tower farm.
-late game encounters resulted qot almost being killed twice, although rawr masterfully dodged that both times. One battle was while we had the hp flag, the other one happened while us not having the hp flag.
So i think, we could easily hold for another 300-350 ws and once the game is giants vs giants, we could get kills with the advantage of ub's late game and qot getting weaker late game, therefor win the game.
On the other hand kalel and rawr had access the giants immediately and had certain advantages as well.
Even though i think we did have the advantage, i believe it is fair for game to be repeated since it's very close call and would be unfair to both sides to lose the effort that they put in.
We think we had the game won (obviously barring stupid things by either side):
We pushed both sides down and all 4 middle towers.
After pushing down both side towers, we had to face tb / ub prior to going back. At the gold flag / portal we pushed 1 back, another back, and another back. Both TB / UB get very low (Shane masterfully knows when his sigil is going to drop off and has to wait for orcun to clear out the tower as he drops to 11 hp and it's in the way). At the cooldown flag we finish the towers as they arrive and we go to back out again. Orcun drops to <400 (can't remember exact number) prior to sigil. My point here is that we pushed out when we needed to and got the towers down even with their presence. The only reason they pushed us out was because we needed to restock after taking down the towers and pushed them out once already (gold flag) or needed creeps (celerity flag).
Our next move RIGHT when the dc happened was that kalel ported back and got giants and we were going to run up the fort flag side with no towers in our way. With the way we pushed out before, I believe we certainly had the celerity flag and let kalel set up some towers out of the way of giants, and then slowly work down to the portal. At this point, Orcun / Shane have 2600g and 1400g respectively, are 6900 ws, but don't have catapults yet (although Shane does have J-treads to sell). Even if we distract for a long time over there without getting a portal, ground spikes can clear their creep wave, and they have to focus on us rather than stop the push in their mid. Also, Kalel gets stronger with levels with stronger and stronger hammer slams, and I get the 15% damage reduction. I believe we had a portal even with them attempting to push out. However, the game ended just before we could do this.
In any case, it was a very good game.
Go korea!
Ok so after having reviewed the replay, the forces of light were clearly ahead. Now many people can speculate at was would've or could've happened had the game continued on. However, the facts are there...
-Forces of light had flag control throughout the entire match.... let alone at time of discon.
-Not to mention that all the towers on either side were down....,
-As for late game encounters, yes, you almost killed queen a couple of times, but you both kept getting driven back by rook.
-Forces of light clearly win most encounters
-Forces of light already had giants, with minimal sell, whereas forces of dark would've had to sit around with 1 flag for 350 warscore til they had the opportunity to buy giants. Plus he woulda had to sell journeymans....
-Also Forces of light have position on you, which is only amplified by the fact that you have no towers.
But I can also go the speculation route and say well you had to wait for giants and in that time you would've been pushed back, to your citadel and lost the game.....
Speculation helps nothing, look at the facts, and clearly you've lost.
Please stop bending the truth to make yourself look better, Orcun.
I just watched and paused the game as soon as I noticed Shane dropped. I was watching at 4x speed, and I did have a few second latency before I paused the game. So you can say that I paused roughly 15-20 seconds after the Shane's drop and all commentary is made at that snapshot.
Advantages for Orcun/Other-Guy:
5 more flag caps
Level advantage (14 TB, 13 UB versus 12 Rook and Queen)
In general, they were "winning" most of the fights in that they would usually force a retreat and an earlier sigil but towers and everything else.
Advantages for Kalel/rawr:
Kalel was porting home just after Shane dropped, and he had gold for Giants (5161, sell Vlemish (bots rook) and purchase giants + sigil + teleports). At the time of dropping, UB has 1200 gold (but Journeymans), Orcun has 3100 gold and they are at warscore 9. The only reason they were winning fights was because of Journeymans. Selling that means that they no longer win fights... hmm... You were also 500 points behind in WS (I froze the game at 29:21 with you having WS of 6845 vs 7290, which means you were about 400 warscore away PLUS 20 seconds or so AND you didn't have map control., which is a few seconds after Shane dropped, 20-30 seconds at most (I was watching at 4x speeds, and I didn't react super fast). This isn't what you say, Orcun.
Tower advantages. They have both of their side towers on celerity side, and one on gold and all their middle towers. Orcun and Shane have lost half of their middle towers and both side towers.
Gold advantage:
Though the Victory screen numbers are off by one kill and about a minute Shane is roughly 3k gold behind both Rawr and Queen with one kill on Orcun and a kill on Shane (AI) with no assists for either. So, though you had a good level advantage, the UB was behind probably 1-2k gold. Selling Journeymans to get Giants would have only widened that gap.
Kalel and Rawr held Orcun's gold flag for probably a minute or two over the course of the game. You can waive this off by the 3 or 4 yellow-denies UB does against Queen mid-game and the general flag advantage.
Killed more towers, which gives good gold (free TP)
They held and locked their portal, winning a gold and xp advantage (remember portals have a gold mine and that creep waves award gold and xp advantages)
They acquired currency 40 seconds earlier than the other team (basically, one free port for Rawr or Kalel)
In general, Rawr and kalel did use slightly more consumables (a few more ports and locks, sigils were roughly equal). However, tower kills make up for this.
In order to purchase Catapults + Giants, both Orcun (3100 gold needs to sell a 1500 gold item) and Shane would have had to sell items, only excaberating the gold difference.
---
The game, in general, was going in Rook and Queen's favor. Their slight gold advantage can make up for being a level behind and if UB did sell Journeyman's then he would have been well behind both Rook and Queen in gold. Kalel was about 30 seconds away from purchasing Giants at the time of the drop and that would have pushed back Orcun and Shane and allowed Rook to get a large tower farm up for the next engagements and to level up.
If I were to say who was winning in THIS second snapshot, then I would say the game was in Rawr and Kalel's favor.
However, I do think that ONCE GIANTS WERE PURCHASED then things may have changed a bit. Both UB and TB had a speed to run around and portal harass without too much fear. Queen can't even stop them from porting out. This is especially true if UB kept his Journeyman's. However, I cannot personally judge the outcome of a game by the future theory crafting of what would happen in the next 15 minutes.
See, now watch me theory craft and say the other team would have the advantage:
If they purchased Giants as soon as possible, UB would have had to sell Journeyman's and they would have stopped winning engagements (imo). If they didn't purchase Giants as soon as possible, Rawr and Kalel would have pushed side portals while Giants munched up the middle of the map, which had already lost most of its towers. Furthermore, the only 1v1 engagement Orcun and Shane could win was TB v Queen and even that is a maybe because Fire TB struggles more against Creeps than any TB with points in RoI.
See?
So, if the general consenus is that it was not "too close to call" then I vote in favor of rawr and kalel based off of in-game performance, not theory-crafting what would happen in the next 10-15 minutes of the game. However, I do not think that rawr and kalel had a clear-cut victory so I wouldn't be upset with a rematch... though I think that if a second disconnect happens again in the rematch and that one ALSO is "too close to call", that this game should be used to determine the victor since every game so far Orcun has been in has resulted in a disconnect... just sayin'.
Well in their defense, since Shane is so confident about winning the tournament, it really doesn't matter if a win was awarded to RAWRRRR & KALEL. All they have to do is win the next 2 games, no biggie.
Very close game but imo, the game goes to raw and kalel.
If orcun didn't need to sell the jtread to buy the giants, the game would have been almost equal (still in slight favor of raw/kal). But once the jtread is gone, they will be even more pushed back with the rook gaining momentum on the portal/celerity flag. It becomes a 2v2 fight without the towers on orcun/mc's portal, and raw'kal would've pushed and capped the portal.
Please stop being bitter that it took us like half an hour to beat you twice Hedgie.
Anyway about the game, you agree that we started winning engagements but say it was due to the Journeyman Treads? I'm pretty sure I did not have them for more then a few minutes before I disconnected. I got them in anger after Rawrr somehow survived what I thought was a sure death by their gold mine portal, I did not need them. We started winning engagements because Queen started becoming more and more useless. Rooks slam becomes nice at higher levels but with a queen who can only stay in the battle for about 15 seconds he's not going to have time for it to be useful. Especially when I was near having putrid flow and acclimation. I won't be angry if the game is given to them though. I thought our combination would have difficult time vs Rook, but we wanted to test UB/TB anyway. I don't think you can say any game where there was no kills is decided though.
^Are you serious? That game disconnected both times.
QoT gets Mulch 3 (2250 heal + 750 AOE damage) and Goddess of Thorns (-15% damage & 35 damage to attackers) at level 15.
I need to watch the replay though to see what build RAWRRRR was doing.
But since Shane has volunteered to give the game to the other team, why not. Just get on with the next game.
i hope i am not getting sucked into forum drama.
i basically said what i thought and what my plans were for the game. Blaming me with bending the truth or implying that we cause disconnects on purpose is not understandable by me.
If you read through my post you will see that before i make a point, i imply that this is what "i think". Obviously those are my subjective judging of the game.
That is the build I was doing. Would have had both @ 15. But I would suggest watching the replay anyway.. it's worth watching.
I agree with this post. While I do enjoy forum drama, I think this is currently a time to avoid it.
I'm 100% joking about intentionally causing DC's. It's demigod and it's an inside joke with OMG related to something Peter said one day. You weren't there.
But, you were using an intercorrect timestamp when the DC occured, regarding both levels and warscore. You were saying from the time point of when the game ended (more than a minute after the DC) and not when the DC occurred, and - apart from the two deaths - that time worked out in your favor as you were only 200 away from WS and had a 14 v 13 level advantage. Hence why it was bending the truth. You may not have been doing in intentionally, but the case you presented was not what was happening at the time at the disconnect.
I say JTreads lets you win engagements because it lets you be more crazy and berserk. It also is basically an instant speed boost while in Rook's towers, enabling you to close the gap faster and proceed to do damage. And it lets you run away with minimal risk. So ... yes?
And both times they disconnected when they should have conceded anyway.
Omg queen of thorns so scary with her whatever the hell those skills are you're talking about. After I disconnect Rawrr still has banded armor and scaled helm. Kalel goes back and sells his armor in order to get giants leaving him with vlemish, banded armor, unbreakable boots, and heuberk of life and 16% armor with Rawrr at 21% armor while in his shell. Meanwhile I am going to have my journeyman treads for at least another 5-10 minutes while Orcun gets catas and we just hang on for a bit. I know you're not too familiar with UB ninki but this pretty much means no one is going to escape, chasing down two characters with no armor while spit and ooze drain them is a dream scenario for a good UB. Then I happily sell them when necessary for Giants.
Actually I was looking through my replays the other day and noticed you should probably avoid playing a UB, that job should just have stayed with Orcun. I'll post it up when I get home.
Besides, you shouldn't feel the need to vehemently defend for your position. Like you've expressed many times, you're confident enough to take the tournament with your eyes closed. If that's the case, just give them the win and play out the next 2 games since you'll come out with a win anyway. What difference does it make, right?
