This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament.

Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010.
Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.
Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.
Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.
Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010
Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches. Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played. Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.
There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled. It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums. For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:
Atma + Ba: trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST. Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works. I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent.
Something like that. If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.

Tournament Rules:
How will we handle crashes:
If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match. If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark). If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win. If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision. Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.
How we will handle invalid game states:
The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match. In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes. If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review. If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though. We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it. If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof. Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review.
Prizes:
Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions. The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200. If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment. If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference. My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.

Quick discussion about next tourney - and yes... I will personally ensure that there will be a next tourney. Let's talk about deadlines.
I think we should have a concrete structure for the next tourney. I'm thinking that we should give each round a 2 week window. And, the big catch, is that there are 0 extensions given for any reason. I know that rawrrrr certainly isn't stalling or being a jerk by keeping us from getting our next game in (eg he has a legitimate reason to postpone our game) but under the rules for the next tourney, I think a DQ would be appropriate. What do you guys think? Should we set an EXACT time frame for getting your games in and DQ if they don't happen? How should we decide who to DQ? How long should each round be? Let me know what you think!
I do think it needs to be 2 weeks long. The first round didn't have any issues even though that had the most amount of people regardless of the fact people were still scheduling and meeting each other. Similarily, we need to make sure we know when everything starts and stuff... I signed Thunder up for this when he had plenty of free time.
But, it took a while to get everything going and then things got hectic for him. Just speaking personally.
Anyway, 2 weeks should be enough to get everyone get their games in without a hitch since half of it is scheduling and since the dates would be really... firm, we could actually schedule things before rounds start. (Eg, "Mr. Pacov, assuming I win the next two rounds, can we play on Monday the 15th?").
Well how about a 16 day cycle? Start the round on a Friday end the round on a Monday. This gives 3 total weekends for the cycle and if a match can't be played in that amount of time then one or both teams are DQ'd ? If both teams attempted to make it happen and it couldn't work out then both DQ'd? If one team just didn't respond or make the effort then they are DQ'd?

I'm cool with either jon or hedgies ideas. Having 3 total weekends does sound like a good idea and should help folks get their matches in. I think we could make an official rule that outside of that range there will be ZERO extensions for any reason (good or bad) - hopefully that would motivate folks to get their match in early instead of waiting until the 3rd weekend.
I think a hard dealine for getting matches in is the totally wrong way to go. A hard deadline for posting availability is far better.
That way you don't have teams that take 17 days to not even once post what time they can play, much less agree to a time, much less show up and play the game, much less post the replays when it's done.
Tournaments are about who is the best, presumably at playing demigod rather than avoiding scheduling games and and talking your way into dq's.

wooooo.. so.. I got my computer back.. and after taking the motherboard out I actually see the bulging capacitor. In the process of figuring out if it's replaceable and if that would fix it, or if I need to get a new one / finding an exact replacement. If I can find a place to do overnight for it I SHOULD have it tomorrow.
Anyway, I totally understand DQ's and this tournament has been VERY lax. When I get more time I'll post my thoughts, but.. ya. Thanks for granting me one.. I'm definitely not purposely avoiding... I would never choose to be w/out a computer for several days (in the mean time I've read like 1500 pages), but having to wait that long is depressing and if I were anyone else I would say DQ tbh. Although I've thought that about other ppl in this same tourney and been lax. Anyway, need stronger rules on that for next tourney.
PS If anyone knows shit about blown capacitors and replacing them.. HALP!
I would really recommend replacing your motherboard. Otherwise, you will likely need to purchase a few tools to pull off the change. I'd really just say pick up a cheap replacement mobo if that's possible. If you are resolved you want to try to replace the capacitor, this should be a very useful resource.

bah. Turns out, after like 5 places in town are like "you're retarded you can't replace a capacitor" I found a guy who was like "ya they're like $5.. $15 after install" .. buut before he did it he noticed the bottom of mobo was a little darkened.. so he tested one of the chips right next to the blown capacitor and found out it was the original cause of the problem and couldn't be replaced.
Anyway.. long story short.. friend ordering new mobo off Newegg and overnighting it for me. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll kill a newborn kitten. If it's doa, I'll make sure the kitten dies a slow painful death. And if all works out, I may just kill it in celebration.

Glad you were forced into getting the new mobo... the odds of you permanently damaging you computer components is pretty freaking high if you try to replace a capacitor and botch it. Hopefully that damage hasn't been already done (I'd think the odds of that might be high too)... I think teseer might be high now as well...

Sorry guys... thought I'd have been eliminated by now and the tourney almost done anyway so I didn't think getting this dog would conflict. And, I didn't know things would be so crazy when I did... I'm so sleep deprived, I feel like a new parent for Christsake. First night we got her, I was cleaning up a huge puddle of pee at 1:00 am from our supposedly house trained dog who had been walked 15 times that day... the moment I'm done she takes a dump right where she had peed.
Anyway, If you guys want to give it a shot today with my bad internet and see what happens let me know. Otherwise, let me know when is good for you guys in the next 7 days and we can set up a time that I can go use the reliable internet. My place is 2 hours away and my girlfriend is going to act like I'm abandoning her with our newborn baby, so if we schedule a game, it really has to happen.

Nice to hear from you, since the 3 of us are on quite often and you're never around I was about to suggest we just throw Hedgie a hard AI, not going to change the outcome of the game anyway. I'm at work right now, should be back in about 3 or 4 hours but Orcun usually isn't on til later at night, we can try whatever evening you want though. If you'd like to just concede and save some time also so the contendors don't have to see a legit replay of Orcun and me, that's fine too.

"I" wasn't going to replace it.. the incredibly intelligent tech was going to. But a MOSFET had slight burn damage that I didn't see, and the bottom was slightly browned underneath it. After checking the voltage, it was deemed a problem as well, and not really replaceable. The damage was already done as that was basically the power gateway to my power supply. It drew too much and caused something to blow out and leak in my power supply (which is why I thought my power supply was the original problem). Some stupid company looked at it and said it blew 4 of their power supplies and confirmed this for me lol. Were that MOSFET not blown tho, and it was simply a blown capacitor, it would have been an easy $15 fix with no chance of a "botched" install (it's what the guy does for a living lol).
Oh. Ya. My friend is fucking retarded. So. Instead of spending the money he owes me like I asked him to.. he said he couldn't justify spending $30 of my money to overnight the motherboard and instead took the standard free 3 day from newegg. And instead of doing it yesterday before it was too late, like I had asked him to do in the phone call conversation moments before when he said "ya I'll do it right now np".. he ordered it this morning. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... I'm really looking for a kitten store, and you should probably DQ me from the tourney unless you can wait until Thursday, more than likely Friday. In the meantime I have LOZ: Twilight Princess to tide me over.

Ok - as I'm directly impacted by this decision, I'd like some community feedback. Should RAWRRRR + KalelSMX be disqualified? At this rate, the best case scenario is that they could play on Friday (assuming both trouser and I are available - I probably can be, but not sure about trouser). That's a week over the deadline and still potential that it might not happen by then. That said, RAWRRRR actually has a legitimate reason to not be able to play. Do we delay until he is available or attempt to move on? If the hedgie/thundercles v mcshane/orcun game actually happens tonight, then trouser and I should be able to fight the winner of that game sometime in the next couple of days. I really shouldn't be making the final decision on this, though. Its fair if they are DQ'd being a week overdue, but there are extenuating circumstances. Let me know what you think.

Hey, disqualify me or don't... can't say I really care that much. I made a lot of effort to be around my good internet connection after we finally got to play Exile and Shred so I could get our game in with Orcun and his showerbuddy Macshane83. Unfortunately I hadn't realized they hadn't completed their game yet... even though it was three days past their deadline... so... don't know why a certain someone is acting like they got some sand in their vagina.
IMO, this is all getting kinda ridiculous. If I'm out thats fine (with me, maybe not hedgie... sorry bro) but I don't think you should DQ RAWRRRR and Kalel. Just improve things for next time by either having alternate members for a team that can step in to make scheduling easier, or just have a challenge system. Theres no money for second or third place so who cares if you get knocked out by a good team right away... you're either the best or you ain't with this format. Once you get past round one, just challenge someone else who's also ready to play. Oh, and definitely no free agent teams next time.
^Actually with the remaining teams I thought the matches would end quicker since they're usually the guys that are online.
But it looks like they've kinda lost their motivation because it's been so long.
I just feel bad for the people who donated to the tournament in hopes of starting something wonderful, just to end up with a series of DQs. I'd ask for a refund.
Hmm I don't really get your response. Did the last sentence of my post make it seem like I'm offended by the wait? I thought "we can try whatever evening you want though" would make my position clear. I couldn't care less about why you haven't be able to play yet, just post a message here when you're ready even if our round has ended I still want to play you. The point I was trying to make is it doesn't matter, you two have the lowest chance of the remaining teams to win the tournament so it would be easier for you to just say "alright I forfeit" rather then having to drive to find a decent internet connection. After this we can set up an exhibition match at your convenience.

I think that the tourney should end with matches not DQ's. If it takes another month to finish I don't care I would rather wait than have 2 teams advance because of DQ's.
