This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament.
Current status: WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God
Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010.
Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.
Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.
Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.
Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010
Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches. Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played. Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.
There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled. It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums. For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:
Atma + Ba: trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST. Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works. I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent.
Something like that. If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.
Here is the FINAL bracket - UPDATED 6/5/2010
Tournament Rules:
How will we handle crashes:
If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match. If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark). If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win. If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision. Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.
How we will handle invalid game states:
The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match. In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes. If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review. If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though. We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it. If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof. Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review.
Prizes:
Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions. The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200. If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment. If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference. My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.
Please thank our contributors and consider contributing to the prize yourself.

Hey hedgie, I messaged you on skype. I'm free all weekend if you give me 6 hours notice or whatever. I think ABorn is free too. Are you free on Sunday? A Sunday evening would be quite a pleasant time to have a little match of demigod, don't you think? Seeing as you said you are busy on Caturday.
gah was gonna go home Sunday night to stay w/ Mom / pop, but ya I can do Sunday night.
Edit: Goin home tomorrow evening and staying through Sunday dinner. I'll plan on being back by 9 est tho.
Me and Jona were on but im getting pretty sleepy waiting. Dont think it will be possible to get a match by the deadline. We are going to need an extension. Like I said earlier I can get anytime till Sunday as long as you give me a head notice. I will try to get on around 6pm-8pm pst tonight just to check if they're there.
No problem.
updated the bracket.
ok well if Teseer and Kal can make Sunday night post it in this space. I'll be checking intermittently this weekend.
Thunder is currently in the middle of a 72 hour work shift as a fireman. Which means if we can try to play on Sunday and some jackass decides to set something on fire... In addition he has really shoddy internet. We can try, but we're going to have to be VERY VERY lenient about drops because he will probably drop at least once and most likely twice.
Basically, unless someone is like 3 kills ahead and destroying everything it needs to be thrown out.
My internet at work has been pretty good, so hopefully we'll be able to get 2-3 whole games in with minimal hassle.
Of course Pacov will have the ultimate say on disconnects, but if its okay with the two of you, I'd like to go with what Hedgie said. Unless one side is obviously dominating the game, I think we should just play again with the same Demigod selection if someone disconnects. I'd just hate to have some sort of "Oh, we win! We were way ahead on warscore!" argument happen.
How do you two feel?
..
It just occurred to me there is a possible problem with the current rules in place for the tournament. The current rule is that if there is a crash or dc or igs, and the game wasn't decided yet, that the game will be replayed with the same dgs. This is a good rule, but it is incomplete. The vulnerability I've discovered is that just because someone has to play the same dg, doesn't mean they have to play the same build. For example, someone could play a minion build, or not. Use a different favour item, etc. If they change up their build significantly, this is within the rules, however, it can change the outcome of the match. In the first match, it may not be decided, but one or more players could have witnessed a problem with their build choice in relation to the other teams dg choice and build choice. Its possible that their choices weren't very effective against the other teams choices. If they get to replay the game with the same dg, they could radically alter their build to compensate, and in so doing, change the outcome of the game. This could occur either if the dc was legitimate OR they could intentionally dc, claim it was unintentional, and then change their build so that they have a better chance of winning. Due to this problem I suggest that if any matches need to be replayed that the players be required to use the same build as well as the same dg. This way the exploit I described will be eliminated.
I was actually thinking about suggesting that very thing SStarkiller, but thought I might be going a little too far.
One could make the argument that where would it end? You have to lane against the same demigods you did in the aborted game? You have to get the same upgrades at the same warscore again?
I don't disagree, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. If myself or my opponents do something foolish, then the game could have had a decidable outcome. If it couldn't be decided for sure either way, who's to say your opponents will play the same way to even counter in the new game?
^If you truly are better then it really shouldn't matter.
Besides, with the remaining teams I doubt any of them would exploit the rules. They have better things to do.
Sorry for posting with the wrong login, forum was being a bit buggy. I reposted with my account that's in the tournament. Basically saying the same thing, but more refined. As to your point about the slippery slope factor, theres no way to save games in demigod, which is a massive oversight on the part of our incompetent friends over at gpg. Even starcraft lets you save game, and that came out in the 90's. Since you can't save a game, there is no way to resume a crashed game. Therefore, there is no way to completely replicate the game that crashed, even if you tried to do all the same actions as before. I would suggest that they try their best to make the game go the exact same way, but although this is a good idea, its not practical, and instead I think they should just be bound to the same builds, and nothing else. If they can manage to change the outcome with the same builds as the first game, it was going to be close anyways, and may have gone either way, so its not too big a deal. The ability to change your build however, can turn a highly likely loss into a win. This should be prohibited, anything above that is much less significant and need not be mandated.
What if you change your build every game depending on what abilities they get...?
I don't do the same build against minion builds as I do against assassin builds for... most demigods. I will change around certain skills at times for a temporary bonus (eg, if I level up as I'm running from a 2v1 with very little hp, I might put a point into Inner Grace I normally wouldn't to keep myself alive). I don't lock myself into the same build game in and game out.
Though I can agree with what you're saying.
So what are we going to propose then seeing as we are unable to do it this weekend because of Thunder's internet?
Can Teseer stand in for Thunder, or is that not appropriate (I understand if it is not)?
Does Thunder's interest improve during the week?
Assuming we get an extension, I am free all week nights 5:30pm GMT - 12pm GMT. I really can't stay up much later than that on work nights as I do have a pretty stressful job tbh and it would mean I really wouldn't be able to function during the day.
Ke5tral + Kalel - Rawr
Sunday is cool for me! I get off at 8:00.
Shreddy, I was staying at my place with good internet the entire last week in the hopes we could get a game in... so I would say I have a lot of "interest" in having this match take place.
I could go back there for a day and a half on Tuesday, but anymore and I'm pretty much going to get dumped. At this point my relationship might be over no matter what I do, and in that case my schedule will free up considerably.
thunder ;; don't break up with your gf for Demigod!
So I get off of work @ 8 PM EST on Tuesday, at the earliest. I still have to come home, etc. So 9 PM EST which would be 6 PM Thunder's Time or 5 AM Shred's time.
We could move that forward a few hours (keep in mind the fact that each game might take up to an hour, esp with lag) to help accommodate Shreddy a bit so he doesn't have to wake up an an ungodly hour. So maybe 11 EST so Shreedy is at 7? I'm not sure what time he has work... if it's @8 or 9 like a normal person that might not work out. If it's later (like noon) that might be good, or maybe we can kick it forward to midnight EST which would put him at 8 AM for Shreddy which isn't too bad?
We can still try to schedule a time tentatively tommorow...? I'm mostly available all day but it's best if I start after ~4 PM though I can start earlier, just .... someone... might be mad at me
Okay, I really don't want to be the reason for you breaking up a relationship. Demigod is important but not that important.
I would have wanted it last week as well, but it's just none of you were around online till about 3 am in the UK.
I'm not sure what to suggest if thunder is definitely going to drop from any game we start. I'm a bit at a loss here.
Edit: I really don't do mornings dude :/
2nd Edit: right, I'm off to the pub to see if I can score with a goth chic
Actually, the whole DC thing varies out where I am right now. The internet reliability is really random out here... I might play five games in a day without DCing, or it might just totally suck and I give up after DCing from the lobby without ever even getting a game started.
As far as my relationship goes, just making it clear, it is not on the rocks cause I play too many computer games... but it is on the rocks and me bailing to play computer games might not be the best thing while I'm trying to save it... but I'm still trying to figure out if it should be saved at all.
Okay, sorry, too much personal info. Lets just try and play tomorrow and see what happens.
-Edit just played a long game (its Saturday) with 0 lag and didn't DC. Hopefully be good tomorrow as well..
I'm around for the next 8 hours (12 midnight my time), can you let me know what time you want to try for?
ABorn wants to know what time you want to try for as he has some stuff he wants to do today.
It would really help if we knew what time you were going to be online.
Thanks
kk, see you guys for our match tonight at 9 EST
Looking forward to it
Yuh. Apologies for a wonky me. Friday I was diagnosed with...shingles. Fuckin shingles, at 23!
