So Im gonna do a little AAR here. I'm making a few rules to keep things edgy Basically, the rule is, all terror missions must be attempted at night. To avoid suspicions of the common folk. Also, no more troops can join the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit, it is all top secret of course. (this latter rule may change, depending) Basically its my first AAR ever. Feel free to comment, but please be kind lol. Anyways, here goes!
Hello, this is the log of Calvin Stafford. I am a soldier who has been initiated into an elite group called the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit. Which is pretty much exactly what it says. I kill aliens. Though I'd never seen an alien before all this started, and actually before I went through training I didn't even believe aliens existed. But now I know the truth, and this is how my story begins.
Jan 1st, 1999
I arrived at the base this morning at 4 am. Too damn early if you ask me. I met my fellow soldiers, sure to be my only friends from here on out. There's no going back to a normal life after this, hopefully we all can accept that fact and get along. Went through an initiation ceremony that was rather uneventful, turns out all the shit we've heard about throughout our childhoods, the stories that used to make us shiver and leave a light on in the hallway are true. Aliens are among us.
The base is named EuroCom. Short for European Command. It's situated in the side of a hill in the southwestern part of Germany. Pretty much the middle of nowhere, but we're not looking for any visitors anyway so I guess it's ok.
What are you going to do if Calvin dies? Will another soldier take over the AAR?
I like to name my soldiers after people i know, that way if they die i get to tell that person about their horrific grizzley end.
I do that, too. It occasionally leads to hilarity.
I had a squad out, all named after myself and friends. On one mission, one of the female troops, Erron, was mind controlled and started blasting away. She killed one of my other troops, Kyle, by shooting him in the back. In real life, they're married.
Very nice so far my friend. I'm interested to see where it goes. Fight the good fight and don't be a cheater and reload when one of your favorite squad members gets killed. Go Iron-Man or go Home
more more
so much sweet memories
Doing an Ironman mode on this game is BRUTAL, but it is soooooooooooo much fun.
That's the plan So if Calvin dies, god forbid, the AAR will continue, but should everyone die, it's game over We're just gonna see where this goes for the heck of it

Been keeping an eye on those reports about UFO activity. Seems like the aliens have some interest in Antarctica, and maybe a little in North America as well. More recon missions in store no doubt.

Strange... Reconnaissance isn't pulling up anything. Luckily the Large Radar System was completed today, and put online which will hopefully help us in routing out these damn sneaky aliens.

Finally spotted another UFO near Saudi Arabia, as I speak the interceptors are on their way to take it down...

Just received word from the interceptors. I guess they chased the craft from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia before finally catching it and engaging it in combat. They said it didn't even put up a fight and two Stingray missiles completely and utterly destroyed it. It would have been nice to investigate, but the more aliens we can kill with the least amount of trouble the better.

Took a trip to the labs to see what our scientists were up to. We are currently trying to back engineer one of the armaments we found at the initial crash site. Also a few scientists have gone about the task of dissecting one of the alien corpses. They have given the species a name: "Sectoids".
It also seems like our scientists don't like to give themselves deadlines or let us know an estimated time of when they'll be done. They keep saying, "We'll have it when we have it!"

Medi-kit production complete. Also we spotted a UFO in the Sahara. It's been shot down, and we're going in to investigate!
Well, I'm not saying don't hire new squaddies if some die, just don't save it before every turn and reload it when your best guy gets killed.
yea that's right, that's me saving the day.
Matthew also had his moment of glory. I guess Barbara Gettings, one who went to investigate the surrounding area turned up with an alien kill as well. No casualties and three more aliens dead... I'd say that's a pretty good day.
The promotions at the end of the day. Kevin Houk evidently "performed admirably" for siting the enemy Gettings shot. Turns out she could have died if he hadn't warned her. Scary? yea. Deserving of a promotion? I don't think so. But I don't make the rules.

By mid February, it seems UFO sightings in the Antarctic have reached almost the same levels as they were in January. I know there has to be something there...

After more recon failures, Command has decided that if UFO activity in the area keep up through March they will consider building an outpost in Antartica. Not sure if I agree with the decision, I'm definitely on the fence here.

UFO spotted very close to our base. You don't think they're scouting us...? Our interceptors chased the craft from Germany to Australia before they had to turn back because of low fuel. Before our scanners lost track of the UFO though, we saw it fly over the south of Australia towards where? Yea... Antartica...

These aliens are definitely sneaky little bastards. I'm losing hope in findings these SoB's.

It seems we have dissapointed Australia. I didn't realize there was any activity there. I suppose we should have known with it's proximity to our alien friends' supposed gathering spot.
Hopefully, we can prove to Australia that we can kick alien ass in the coming months. I hate to think of the alternative...
