Hey if it does go down we all get bragging rights in heaven anyway.  People would be like "How did you die" and you get to say "In the apocalypse!!! Beat that!!!!".  Who knows, maybe new fault lines will open where there aren't any now anyways.

I have to totally disagree with this one.

When 911 grounded 1000s of planes, a lot of them where in Newfoundland Canada and other eastern provinces. These people where grounded for days with no way to get home and Canadian families opened there homes to them. During the ethnic cleansing of eastern Europe and Africa, there where thousands of canadians opening there home to refugees and orphans. Not to mention the aid we sent. While we might not have much of an army, we are known as great peace keepers and aid givers. Who would want to attack Canada anyway. Oh ya, the Americans back in 1812, but we kick there butt lol.

I think you will find people all over the world being the same way once the sh%t hits the fan.

As far as I understand the Mayan calendar, it was simply to indicate the end/beginning of a certain celestial cycle. It had nothing to do with 'the end of the world', or any other specific world changing events.

im not sure i should bother. people that subscribe to the idiocy contained in films like zeitgeist are normally immune to facts and logic. but ill just point out that central banks are independent government agencies (not private banks, even though private banks make up part of the reserve system), who return all profits (minus expenses) to their respective treasuries. governments pay no net interest to their central bank, which makes the relationship completely different to when you or i borrow money for a house or car.

central banks are independent from elected politicians in order to keep monetary policy from becoming politicised. they have to make the hard decisions that politicians can't be trusted with. their primary roles are to maintain price and currency stability, moderate interest rates and act as a lender of last resort. they are not private institutions run for private profit and the officials in charge of monetary policy are appointed by the government.

im not sure i understand the question. most money that a government needs comes via taxation. if a government spends more than it receives in taxation (ie running a deficit) then the government will borrow that money by selling government debt in bonds. if a central bank just printed as much money as ever required by the government, then (in most circumstances) inflation would get out of control. the central bank is merely a facilitator in this entire process, if a government owes debt to bond holders then that is the responsibility (fault) of the government, not the central bank. the central bank makes no profit from its loans to government.

Because bartering is innefective regarding wages and large sums of value. We can't actually afford to use gold (what money represents). Ironic, isn't it?
