I've thought about this for a number of my excel charts I've made (I use it at work), the thing is there is alot to do to even get 'cells'... to the point that I'd basically be re-writing excel under another name. There might be some ways around the issue... Im not sure. As far as compatibility, thats why I used excel 2000... its older so more people should be able to use it (Has nothing to do with me not personally owning a newer version ). Also, I figure that if I do nothing more on this ever, its in an easily modifiable format that someone else could do more to if needed.

In light of those other pretty charts floating around, I've been thinking of maybe making it look better by making a background picture or something. I dont want something too distracting though, as it could make it hard to read the data.

Managed to do some clever things to make it look more interesting and added more details. I want to do some stuff to the capital ships chart then ill upload it

Is it possible for your Macro to also pull the Siege figures for the various Cap ships?

We know from the 1.18 changelog what the siege frigates do, but not the Cap ships.  ie:

TEC Krosov Siege Frigate:

• Planet bombing damage increased from 21 to 25. (Original Sins Only)
• Planet bombing damage increased from 21 to 31. (Entrenchment Only)

Advent Purge Vessel:

• Planet bombing damage increased from 21 to 25. (Original Sins)
• Planet bombing damage increased from 21 to 31. (Entrenchment Only)

Vasari Karrastras Destructor:

• Planet bombing damage increased from 23 to 27. (Original Sins)
• Planet bombing damage increased from 23 to 33. (Entrenchment Only)

For example, I believe that both the Advent Progen Mothership and Vasari 'Egg' colonizer Cap ships do "40" base planet damage.

okay, the capital ships now have a column that indicates planet health damage and population damage per second.

I'm not sure if the formula is right. what I do is take the baseDamage/basePopulationKilled and divide by the bombingFreqTime, This makes my numbers unlike what you have in the post above.

I have to admit that I looked at it before, and didn't understand how it worked.  So I tried it again, per your request, and find that it is actually quite easy to use.  Just plug in the ship types, and the number of ships, and it gives an instant answer!   But I have to wonder how accurate it is.  For instance, does it accurately account for armor?  And missing shield mitigation can be very big factor, but don't see how that could be possibly included.

The approach I took was to calculate Cost (@4 per crystal/metal) Per DPS & Supply, and Cost Per effective Hull Points & Supply (fleet Supply points):

And I also intend to calculate the effective DPS for each ship by race adjusted by the Damage Modifiers.  Again, thanks for your efforts.

Armor should be accounted for correctly unless theres some crazy mechanic i dont know about.

formula is: (Ships' HP)/((Enemy Ships' Atk Bonus * Enemy Ships' DPS)/(1+(Ships' Armor points * 0.05))

Maybe I could account for mitigation by assuming its maxed out all the time? or look at the opposing dps to see if it maxes it out and then do it. problem is what to do when it's not maxed out and exactly how to fit it in the formula. I'm pretty sure I read that shield mitigation works when shields are down, but that no one really knows what point it takes affect.

I'm sorry I did not respond sooner. It is a calculator and should be able to give you a rough idea of what you would need to match up to a fleet on a ship by ship basis. Strikecraft and capitals are not working at the moment, but those should be fairly easy to judge on their own

To be able to do this, you will need to have the excel version, PDF version wont calculate anything. The white boxes are ones you must enter information into. Do not enter anything into the colored boxes. To fill out the chart correctly, follow these steps:

1. Underneath the blue Faction box, enter your faction (TEC, Advent, Vasari)
2. Underneath the blue Ship Type box, enter a ship type from your fleet (eg. Long for a long range frigate). This is easy to mess up as its keyed to pick up certain words and not others. To see exactly how you should phrase it, you can look up the ship type in the Damage Modifiers Chart tab or the Frigate Comparison Chart.
3. Next, underneath the blue # of ships box, enter how many of that ship you have
4. the rest of the boxes for now can be ignored
5. Underneath the chart on the sandbox page is another entry box. follow steps 1-3 for your opponent's ship.
6. As you type in information, the calculator should instantly re-calculate to see which ship wins that encounter. As such, you can change the information till you get the result you want; For example, by increasing the number of ships you have. Or try giving your self a damage % increase. This represents research or other bonus you might be able to get.
7. Its best to pick a combination of your ship and your opponent's ship that are counters. For example, you might not have Long range frigates yet, but your opponent is hammering you with them. If you enter the number of long range frigates that your opponent has, you can try a few different ship types till you find your ship type that will be responsible for taking out the long range frigates.

Please remember that this is just to give you a rough idea. I am willing to listen to ideas to make it more detailed, with the understanding that I can never make it a perfect match and probably never better than a rough idea. I am thinking of adding the ability to have a composite fleet comparison, but that will take some work. That would allow me to put strikecraft and capitals in, but as i said, its alot of work. I'd either have to make up some way of assigning ship types to target another ship type, or treat the whole fleet as one big ship vs other big ship.
