March 30:
Beta Release
July 29th:
Beta v1.98 released
https://www.wincustomize.com/article/389526/
actually, in the development world, Beta means almost all features are in, and require extensive testing. i'm hoping this is more of an Alpha release, that is the stage where many features are missing, not beta.
if there isn't an extensive feature set coming they won't even compare to competitors like the nexus dock. i mean, they've already made some of those features in their free dell and impulse docks, yet you can't get them in the paid dock.
Installation reported successful, and the application actually worked nicely for one day. I had even gotten through re-adjusting my icons and docklets that didn't transfer between versions completely.
After reboot of the PC, I now get a windows dialog box with the following, when starting ObjectDock2 Plus: "Application failed to start because Hook.dll was not found. Re-install the application may fix this problem." - OK Button -
This dialog repeatedly appears after I press OK, for 100s of times... Until I kill the program via TaskMgr.
I've Uninstalled, rebooted, and re-install ObjectDock2...
To no success....
Stardock support, please help me.

[quote who="darcilicious" reply="46" id="2579071"]You don't have it because you didn't manually add the docklet code to the docklet folder in your ObjectDock installation folder Therefore, no problem!
I do not have this in my list either so spill where do we get it?
I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong here. I've been using 1.9x betas for ObjectDock for three years now. They were always labeled as betas of v2. Just search google, these forums, even the program's own history.
And while there is indeed a new config interface, the list of current bugs still contains almost every bug reported three years ago (multimon, etc.). That would indicate that the underlying engine is hardly changed at all.
This version begins to address some issues that were partially broken (systray support) and added a couple new features (reflection and ghost mode), yet even those new features have broken even more things.
Regardless, I am hoping we see fixes regularly going forward and that whatever under the hood work that has been done makes this faster and easier for the master programmer(s) behind OD.
alpha versionA very early version of a software product that may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version. Typically, software goes through two stages of testing before it is considered finished. The first stage, called alpha testing, is often performed only by users within the organization developing the software. The second stage, called beta testing , generally involves a limited number of external users.beta testA test for a computer product prior to commercial release. Beta testing is the last stage of testing, and normally can involve sending the product to beta test sites outside the company for real-world exposure or offering the product for a free trial download over the Internet. Beta testing is often preceded by a round of testing called alpha testing.
Who cares stop crying they release the beta and people are still upset geez. I have giving Stardock hell for the last couple years on and off over OD but they have deliver what I wanted and I am happy.
They didn't promise a final release in March it a freaking Beta!!! I don't care how long they worked on it to get to this point the fact is Stardock should get credit for not killing OD+ like all the rest of windows docks are pretty much but for winstep.
People who downloaded OD+ 2 sign up for a beta then will get the final when done if you can't read shouldn't have brought it. Beta means bugs, and missing things to be irony out through out the process so hopefully the final version is has perfect as it can be.
I am sure themes etc will be added as the beta process moves along along with the missing icons for my documents, music etc. If it bugs you go back to 1.9
By the way I own 1.9 and never seen the 1.97 beta you talk about.
When using a floating tabbed dock that resides in the background, whenever I have a window open over top of the dock and I move my mouse over the location of the dock in the background, the name of the icons on the dock are displayed on the top window.
This also happens when the dock is sitting on top of the taskbar and you hover over an area where an icon would be.
Just a question about the interface...but there seems to be a font discrepancy and it's killer on the eyes. Yes...cleartype is enabled, the font in the second window just isn't smoothing friendly (MS Sans Serif = fail). For those savvy enough, the font can be substituted in the registry (which is what I just did, win).
Bebi wins font wars!
I made this new skin with reflection and true stretch, and whenever I go to change icon size, my computer crashes, windows explorer and everything. I have to log out and log back in. I'm running windows 7 64 bit ultimate. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT - I think I've pinpointed the problem. It only crashes when I change icon size too quickly while using "bubble" effect.
i LOVE your skin!!! coulkd you make it available???
Be very careful about font replacement via the registry. You may find some windows size based on the font and if you change it then bad things may happen.
Uhm, where did the icon transparency option go? I'm sure I saw it when I first installed OD2, but can't find it now?
Under Home choose Dock then Style & Color / More Options
Thanks, Elvee!
ok it's time to get out of beta I want OD 2.0
Thanks, I use tabbed docks and that's why I didn't see it. I wish that option could be added for tabbed docks!!!
[Request] I use Adobe Bridge as a file browser. I just learned that if you drag a folder onto the Bridge icon (on your desktop) that folder will open in Bridge.
I have seen Mac OS-X users do this very same thing by dragging a folder onto their Bridge dock icon, and Bridge opens to that folder. Also, I've seen them drag .psd's to the Photoshop icon, and they can open the file that way.
It would be really nice to have this functionality in OD 2.
I would like to se this functionality for any program on the Dock. It could act like the "Open With" option in the right-click menu, where OD2 would automatically pic the program based on the EXE that the dock icon is linked to.
uhh, how does this work with od plus? Can i just install over it?
I've been doing it since XP. And yeah if you try to replace a system font with something bigger (I tried Segoe on XP) some things get cut off (like in the desktop properties window). But simply replacing MS Sans Serif the with cleartype-friendly Microsoft Sans Serif is almost an even exchange.
Argh....stupid double post. Forums were having a meltdown.
OD2 installs to a different directory, so you shouldn't have to uninstall the previous version, I didn't.
I've noticed that skins made for tabbed docks made for OD up to 1.9x don't work as intended with 2.0 Beta. The tiling is "broken":
Well that certainly sucks!
