March 30:
Beta Release
July 29th:
Beta v1.98 released
https://www.wincustomize.com/article/389526/
Heh I was going to ask that question about the weather docklet. Seems to be a lot of questions here but no answers...yet
EDIT: WOW, didn't realize the flyout menu was actually missing as the ones I had made with v1.9 are working in v2.0b. Now
I go to make another Flyout menu and the option is gone
Requests for improvements for Windows 7/Vista:
Please have links (My Music, My Pictures, etc.) allow links to corresponding Libraries rather than hard coded to c:\user\{user}\{mediatype}. I do not keep Music and Photo's on those paths..but have adjusted my Libraries to point to them.
Weather Docklet has to be added onto the dock you wanted. IT WORKS....WOOT!
for flyout to work, right click on the icon and choose Custom menu:Flyout
Edit:Sorry forgot the flyout I had was originally from previous OD.
But the weather Docklet is available and does work.
My first impressions on my Vista Ultimate X64 notebook (Quadro FX3700 M graphics [latest Dell-approved drivers], Q9300 processor, 8GB RAM): it runs well if nothing else is running, but once I load other apps, even with a negligible CPU load (Object Dock being the main user at, say, 2-5%), it is generally (not always) sluggish. The weather docklet may take 2 seconds or so to expand (popping up and collapsing goes quickly, but the fanning out is slow and variable), e.g.. When the dock expands or contracts as taskbar icons are added or removed automatically, the frame rate for the animation seems to be usually about maybe 4-5 frames per second. If I do the same OD action repetitively without interruption, it tends to get a bit faster/smoother.
It really varies a lot, but it's not, on my system, particularly pleasant to use just yet.
BTW, this is very similar to the behavior of the regular 1.9 versions on this same system. Maybe it's something about my computer, but if so, I do not know what, and would love to find out.
I'm running into an inability to change icons on some running apps. I can confirm this with the 64 bit version of Newsbin Pro (Windows 7 x64). When I select "Dock Icon properties", I get an error requester saying "ObjectDock cannot access information about this window. It is likely that it has been ran (sic) as Administrator while ObjectDock has not."
Running both/neither application as Administrator has made no difference.
Note that the Show Windows as Thumbnails is broken with this program as well, so they might be related.
Other programs like Google Chrome, Filezilla work as Thumbnails.
Also, Explorer windows aren't showing their thumbnails either.
I'm starting to suspect that native 64 bit apps (Newsbin Pro and Explorer) are breaking thumbnail/icon support in the new ODPlus 2beta, whereas 32 bit applications work as expected.
I hope this helps. 8)
Well I'll be damned if I can figure it out. It does not show up under "Add" --> "Docklets"
I have: Calendar, Clock, Battery Meter, Web Search, Start Menu, Show Desktop, Recycle Bin, Configure/Unload Object dock, but
no Weather Docklet. I can SEE the docklet in the docklets folder but cannot figure out how to get in onto my
dock.
BUG1: on Zoomer dock when you right click --> View --> Show Minimized Windows. If you open Explorer (ie. My Computer)
and minimize it, it does not show up on the Zoomer Dock but does show up if you select "Show all running Windows"
BUG2: I've set up a small seperate Zoomer Dock to hold my System tray icons, would rather have them on a tabbed dock
but... anyway. Right Click --> Configure System Tray Icons, I have "Safely Remove Hardware & Eject Media", AnyDVD, &
Rainlendar2 checked off. However ONLY AnyDVD & Rainlendar2 show on the dock. If I check off "Show all tray icons at all
times" then all the system tray icons show on the dock. If I instead check off all the icons then only AnyDVD, Rainlendar2,
Object Dock, and Spyder3Utility show up but there should also be Tuneup Utilities & Realtek HD Audio Manager. So out of 7
icons, only 4 show up when checked off individualy, while all WILL show up if "Show all tray icons at all times" is checked.
I couldn't figure out how to get the realtek audio manage onto the dock (1.9 on win 7 x64). Everytime I would drag the shortcut, I'd click on it and get "unspecified error."
[Tabs] Custom +/- images do not seem to work. I have tried re-directing the code in the .ini to point toward "ObjectDockPlus2\Backgrounds," but this did not work.
[Feature Request] It would be nice to be able to access the W7 jump lists through the dock icons. Maybe a right-click on a dock icon could produce a jump list, and one of the options on the jump list could be "ObjectDock settings."
Under two machine installs weather is the last docklet after websearch...and before start menu..and have been set up for 2 different addresses, my home and sisters home....
1. Looks really pretty.
2. Has less features than object dock 1.9, seems odd
3. start menu function broken, only half image.
4. is it possible to have docks on separate monitors only show those windows minimized on that monitor?
5. since you can only check one option, either show all open windows, show all minimized, show systray, it takes essentially 3 docks before you should disable the taskbar? not to mention systray stuff on the dock doesn't seem to respond well either.
6. how come no systray tab setting?
7. no flyout? no stacks? no sub docks? no new features? really confused.
8. is there any sort of upcoming feature list we can see to get an idea of where this is going to go?
Weather Docklet has to be added onto the dock you wanted. ...edit... But the weather Docklet is available and does work.
Ditto:
Darcelicious-Ok..that's a big problem!
Pictures are worth a thousand words! Based on your screenie, ObjectDock Tray is NOT on my list. Therein lies the problem methinks.
Another problem with changing fonts to 125%, some older icons in the tabbed section do not automatically resize.
Same here...I also tried editing the .ini file but it's still showing default plus/minus icons.
1. Windows used to minimize to the dock, now they minimize to the taskbar.
2. The minimize/maximize animation is rough and choppy. This happens the same on 2 different machines.
3. Any chance of getting "Categories" from the Dell Dock as a new feature in OD 2.0? Please oh please?
4. It would be really nice to be able to have reflections on any zoomer, regardless of whether it's in the .ini code or not; just like you can with the tabbed backgrounds.
Darcilicious-My point was that I do not have ObjectDesktop Tray listed in my docklet list..therefore a problem!
You don't have it because you didn't manually add the docklet code to the docklet folder in your ObjectDock installation folder
Therefore, no problem!
Installed the beta this morning, have been loving it ever since. Finally, I can hide my taskbar full time again! Have missed this. Couple of minor bugs I've picked out, though, with the understanding that this is a beta, and so I'm still pretty much happy as a clam over here.
Bugs:
1) Ctrl+Click on the system tray icons (which used to bring up customization options) simply crashes my dock, regardless of the icon in question.
2) Minimizing icons to the dock isn't capturing Explorer windows for some reason, though they show up if I show all running icons on the dock. Minor annoyance for now, I trust it'll be fixed by the final release
3) For some reason I can't get the tab-dragging feature from the video to work without crashing my dock, either.
Stacks docklet seems to be broken, too, though I doubt that's Stardock's fault. Just a side note.
I'd like to second the request for Categories, too, as from what I can hear it sounds like a good feature that would fit well with the rest. Other than that, it's good so far, bound to be better, and looking forward to the final product - meanwhile, it's become my full time dock.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Ooh, I found another bug! Seems to be related to the 64 bit app issue I mentioned in a prior post. This time, the "running indicator" doesn't come on for the 64 bit version of Newsbin Pro, but it does for 32 bit applications. Even when the program is launched from the dock, it doesn't see the application's "hooks". I am sure that all three issues (no icons/can't fix icons, no thumbnails of windows in running tasks, and no running indicators) are all related. 8)
Hmm, looks like Winamp doesn't show up and it's 32 bit, but Pandora One does, Zune is 64 bit and it doesn't. Hmm....
Also, since we're talking about running indicators...
There doesn't seem to be an option to choose one.
Ok a few bugs
* steam still has issues with the system tray(righclick the steam system tray and the popupmenu doesnt show)
* when a window would normaly blink on the windows bar for a notification, this does no happen on object dock 2, in 1.9 there was an option to select how it would notify you, defulat would be glow...
