ObjectDock 2.0 beta went out today to customers who have pre-ordered. To keep some order in the forums, lets try to consolidate some of the feedback into this thread.
If you are posting an issue please be as descriptive as possible so we can address it if possible. Thanks for your feedback and enjoy!
March 30:
Beta Release
July 29th:
Beta v1.98 released
https://www.wincustomize.com/article/389526/
I haven't got any answer yet so repeat my question: as soon as it's actually pre-order, may i get my money back and don't use 2 beta anymore?
di7ra - Please refer to Stardock's Return Policy.
Actually - I prefer the standard Windows 7 taskbar.
Only it's not a return but canceling a pre-order as here's no any OD2 yet but only beta with alot of bugs and lack of support. It's only a preview for those who's going to buy OD2. I wanted to buy it but i saw how developing is going to continue and have changed my mind.
I really think some feedback by the devoloper is in order... Same for DesktopX.
If don't native 64bits the 32bits soft work in protect zone
and build svchost
>> use more memory that if native 64bits
after if it amuses you have 50 process "svchost.exe" not me
Hmmm, so.
With a normal bg, zoom-out often stutters if I ended the mouseover state by moving to the side of the dock, rather than above. This only happens occasionally, and not as severely, with a tiled bg.
With a tiled bg, zooming in on icons, alternates between stuttering and fine, seemingly at random. I'm set to 'performance'.
With any bg, when set to ghost mode, zoom-in always stutters.
With a tiled bg, ghost mode gets these funny artefacts when I zoom in:
Sometimes I even get chopped, repeated versions of the tile with the icon.
Alright, I can't find where to change running indicators for my zoomer. It seems to be picking up the last know indicator from when 1.9 was installed. (I did uninstall 1.9 prior to installing 2.0). Also, on my tabbed docks, the plus/minus images are the stupid default ones. I have my custom ones in my tabbed folders and code in my ini to match the location but they are not showing up. Anyone have any ideas on either of these problems I'm having.
I like the icon reflection feature, it adds a nice touch to the tray docks and tray-like tiles. I still feel it looks retarded on any other dock.
Hey natas2,
See this thread and my reason for still have 1.9 installed
Path needed in the .ini has changed you just need
[Extras]PlusImage=image name.pngMinusImage=image name.png
oh that sucks about the indicator. thanks for the change on the plus/minus. works like a charm now. On a positive note, I did figure out how to get the reflections working on a tray dock positioned at the top of the screen. For the top position, I had to set IconEdgeOffset to -25 and then double the ReflectionOffset from 6 to 12. Best not to use Zoom effect up there, because the reflection zooms with it and then it looks silly.
[Background]Image = background.pngLeftWidth = 50RightWidth = 50TopHeight = 60BottomHeight = 0OutsideBorderLeft = 25OutsideBorderRight = 25OutsideBorderTop = 0OutsideBorderBottom = 6TileCenter = 0ReflectionHeight = 35ReflectionOffset = 6ReflectionTaperOffAmount = 70ReflectionTransparency = 50HeightAdjust = 0EdgeOffset = 0IconEdgeOffset = 25SeparatorEdgeOffset = 0[BackgroundTop]Image = background.pngLeftWidth = 50RightWidth = 50TopHeight = 60BottomHeight = 0OutsideBorderLeft = 25OutsideBorderRight = 25OutsideBorderTop = 0OutsideBorderBottom = 4TileCenter = 0ReflectionHeight = 35ReflectionOffset = 12ReflectionTaperOffAmount = 70ReflectionTransparency = 50HeightAdjust = 0EdgeOffset = 0IconEdgeOffset = -25SeparatorEdgeOffset = 0
RickJP has posted about this here and I have played around with it but see what happens to reflect if you move dock away from the screen edge.
For yourself, and me myself it is nice to be able to have reflect on dock at top, but I would not upload a dock with reflect at top as not all people have their docks at top screen edge where it needs to be for reflect to look right.
You're welcome.
I see what you are saying...that sucks?
Nope.
Edit: see natas2's edits
The +/- images are not working for me, and I do have my paths set right. It might be a 64 bit issue.
I agree.
I miss the features and functions of 1.9 more than I enjoy the new features of 2.0 If no news as to when these functions will be restored is forthcoming soon, I think I'll just use 1.9 until 2.0 is out of beta. I'm sure it will be worth the wait but for now I prefer a fully working version.
I have both versions installed but having to run the old version just to make simple settings changes, unloading it ,then running the beta is a pita.
Thanks for the opportunity to test it out though.
I just went through and fixed all mine according to Cavan's instructions and it's working fine (finally, yay). 7 pro x64.
You know, it's great that we are able to fix this issue, but, it shouldn't be an issue in the first damn place. Why change something like that? It worked fine before. Now folks have to change all their backgrounds? That seems a bit stupid to me. And I know I can't be the only one feeling like this. So far, frustration seems to be the norm for OD 2.0 and me. Anyone else? I like the reflection and I really, really like the TrueStretch function but I'm not all that impressed so far. Hopefully, the final release will be tons more polished. Btw, I DO understand that this is just a beta so don't go all fanboy on me.
Seriously.... You been collecting money and promoting this as active and "COMING SOON" for months. We have a buggy and dodgy as hell beta release. Yes I understand beta and what it means. It also means its being actively worked on. It has been 2 months since beta went live. There should have been at least 1-3 builds released at the very least by now adressing the above mentioned issues in this thread. Please get to work on what you promised and collected our money for.
Also where is developer feedback to our concerns and issues other then Dewie playing press secretary for Impulse/Stardock on why its stagnant on development.
I honestly thought we'd be getting a Beta...i.e. something that's been worked on and brought to the point where it has all the prior functionality and added features to be tested, reported on and responded to (sorry about the preposition's position).
I agree with Wiz, natas2 and anarkys. I even went so far as to buy this for a friend. He isn't using it because it's so buggy.
di7ra also brought up an excellent response.
I think a well thought out response is in order which has a true (not a "we hope", or vague) target date we can expect completion by. I won't be looking at my watch, but I do however want a ball park date. I believe we are owed that.
I agree with the above 3 responses.
agreed with the above 4 responses
Finally some more people recognize something is definately going wrong with development at Stardock. I have been warning about this for a long time.
I ought to point out that its been 1.5 months since the beta release (March 30th) and not two months.
I will see if I can find out what the plans are for the next ObjectDock beta update.
I stand corrected. I was counting months not weeks. We still have issues that need to be addressed. I love the new features of OD 2.0 but overall I feel this was an alpha release. Old features missing with no explanation why. No news on updates when asked several times in this thread. All we are asking for is news on a product we like and want to support other then we have no further information or no idea when we will address these issues.
There are many great features available to you once you register, including:
