ObjectDock 2.0 beta went out today to customers who have pre-ordered. To keep some order in the forums, lets try to consolidate some of the feedback into this thread.
If you are posting an issue please be as descriptive as possible so we can address it if possible. Thanks for your feedback and enjoy!
March 30:
Beta Release
July 29th:
Beta v1.98 released
https://www.wincustomize.com/article/389526/
10 pages feedback/discussion. Sorry i will not read all these.
Anyway, i decide bought the OD 2 as well, because ~7 Euro isn't much ...and even i state that beta/RC/etc should be free.
But i notice that i can not launch any right click option via dock anymore (not referring RightClick-program).
I had Open Admin command prompt, create system restore snapshot, manage, etc e.g. on computer, what are handy to use.
And some program may need Admin rights, or so. Why these functions are removed, or is there option to turn this on/off?
HI all, i have a problem with the star menu option of OD 2.0 beta, when i clic on it the first two times works fine, the start menu opens normally, but the third time i clic on it i have this message and start menu icon stops working:
Whats my problem then? I have Windows 7 x64
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
I purchased the V2 upgrade. I downloaded and installed it using Impulse. it says that my version is 1.97.. I've seen references made to a 2.0b version. How do I get the latest version???
Thanks,
Not sure why Impulse shows v1.97 but that is in fact Object Dock Plus 2 AKA 2.0b
Same, i guess 2.0b = 2 Beta, because i have also 1.97.
The ObjectDock Plus v2 Beta is actually version 1.97 in Impulse. If you have v1.97, then you have the ObjectDock Plus 2 beta.
I've seen this before, but have been unable to reproduce it. It's on my list of bugs, though, so hopefully this can be fixed in a later beta release.
Hi, I've been playing with this for a while, and I too an having the start menu problem when used in combination with windows 7 and wb7. Also I cant get the wether docklet to show up in the menu. It's in the right folder, but not there in the add>docklets menu. It worked fine on my last install, but not since I did a clean install. Other than that, i miss a couple little things from the previous version, setting the tab justification, indicator options. For the modt part though, I like the new features. and can't wait for the next release.
I hope the option to change the font on the tabs will be readded in the next update, but I did find a work around to change it.
Close OD. Go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus and open the CurrentTheme.ini. Scroll down (or do a Find) for TabFont and change it from Arial to whatever. Save, reopen OD.
anyone know when a new version is due with bug fixes? Some of the bugs are getting rather annoying
Edit: mainly the unclocable folders, and the windows folder view not showing as thumbnails(instead they show as my computer icon)
Weather Dock disappearance problem answered here: https://forums.stardock.com/379042
There is no release date for the next beta at this time.
Just my feedback, and not sure if it's already been suggested:
It would be great if we could have a couple more options for tasks being displayed in the dock.
This kind of functionality would mimic the already existing Windows 7 awesomebar, and I think it would be a great addition to the ObjectDock aresenal. I have 20+ icons in my dock, and I'm always hesitant to use the "Show only minimised windows" option, as I find it hard then to keep track of my open non-minimized windows.
Anyone else think this would be a nifty feature to add?
Understood, but is it at least being actively worked on? Or has poor JB been moved back on Impulse again?
Would like to know that too because something tells me that we won't see updates any soon.
And one more question: as soon as it's actually pre-order, may i get my money back and don't use 2 beta anymore? I don't see any reason to pay for such product yet and prefer to keep using another one.
Thank you.
Something strange here... Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit...
When I access Internet Explorer 8 from an icon on Objectdock 2 beta, it doesn't run flash on webpages. But if I access it from a regular icon, it runs just fine. I've even tried to open with OD2, then install flash, but whenever I close it and open in again through OD2 Flash will not run on webpages...
I don't have the information you seek. I can tell you that Jeff is always busy with multiple projects, though. That doesn't mean he isn't going to set aside time for working on OD+ 2 in the future. When specifically, though, I don't know.
Please ensure that the Internet Explorer shortcut isn't set to run IE without add-on support.
I would like more effects in the new version.
The free Ubuntu bar have beautiful effects, that this program yet do not implement.
(take a look)

There are a lot of dock programs for GNOME and KDE. Which one specifically are you referencing?
I agree! The loss of standard right-click functionality to access "Manage" for "My Computer" and "Run as Adminstrator" etc. is a big loss. Please bring his back.
I totally agree with swwoodland about the right click functionality for accessing normal windows "right click" options. This really sucks and I can't even begin to understand why anyone at stardock thought removing that function was a good idea. This removal of a key function makes objectdock, no matter how pretty it is, a lot less useful for me. There really isn't a point to having objectdock if you still have to look elsewhere for the actual icon just for the right click menu. Also, although this new version does seem faster, options such as ghost mode seem to be stuttery and will probably require a bit of horsepower to make it look nice and worth using all the time. The new dock settings is nicer in some ways, especially in looks, but seems to fall short in ease of use. I noticed a few options that existed in 1.9 are now gone or tough to find. As a whole, right now I'm keeping with the beta in hopes that Stardock releases an update to at least fix the "right click" menu function. Otherwise, I will probably go back to 1.9 or ditch Objectdock all together. Stardock...right now I'm feeling a bit ripped off. Even though upgrading only cost 10 bucks, beta or not, it should be at least as useful as the previous version and all you seemed to do was beef up the "pretty".
I agree. Well said. I miss the right click functionality as well, and if not returned will find an alternative.
so all this time, are we going to get a planned feature list or what? are we going to get any date estimates or what? the complete lack of functionality in this new version of OD compared to others is ridiculous, seriously, functionality before making it pretty, thats how it should be done. and from reading this thread it would seem that the 1 dev that works on this, is on another project now....so whats the point of beta testing this and reporting bugs and feature requests if it will be a year b4 there is an update, or some answers to the many many many questions that have been ignored?
i'll probably just go back to nexus dock, since object dock doesn't even come close in features or usability to it, and at least that is constantly updated
I just installed, 2 previous problems that don't seem to have been fixed (Windows 7 PC):
1 - The dreaded Windows Photo Viewer bug is still present. If you have a folder of images open and double click one, Photo Viewer loads BEHIND the explorer window. This problem only occurs when Objectdock is loaded, 1.9 or 2.0.
2 - Still can't use UNC share names as shortcuts. Enter '\\' and the whole interface locks up for 30 seconds with each letter you type. I shouldn't need to have shortcuts or mapped drives to every network share I have. I haven't checked myself but I hope it behaves well if a network drive becomes disconnected or unavailable.
Nice though, keep up the good work.
