March 30:
Beta Release
July 29th:
Beta v1.98 released
https://www.wincustomize.com/article/389526/
I'm running ObjectDock on Vista 64 and I like it. But I also have Windows 7 64bit on another desktop. I like the Win 7 taskbar's added features and am wondering if you lose those features if you run ObjectDock. I like the way it can display all my IE tabs and lets me go directly to a tab. I also like the way right-clicking on an icon works. Do those features carry over in ObjectDock 2?
Where does one send the crash reports if the automatic report cannot send them?
See PM.
Thank you guys at Stardock for many improvements in v2 beta! Here are some suggestions I have for making the final version even better:1. the "tweak drawing" options should not only be avalable for the zoomer dock, but also for the tabbed. 2. I found no possibility to change the font of the tabs like in Object Dock 1.x. Please make that possible again!
3. It should be possible to set transparency also for the tabbed dock. 4. There should be an option to keep also the tabbed dock stuck in the center of the screen, because if you open full screen applications (like games) that have another screen resolution, after closing them one always has to reposition the dock. I missed that sorely in v1.x and now it would be time for it! 5. It´s really nice that with Object Dock 2 the tabbed dock has more "Accessibility" features, I use regular with reaction on mouse over not checked. It´s a bit schizophrenic: In version 1 I found it annoying that in full screen apps the tabbed dock which is at the screen bottom on my desktop always comes to the foreground when I just wanted to do something in the app there. But now I miss the possibility to call it to foreground in full screen apps (only on demand, not being ALWAYS or accidentally there!). Maybe a good compromise and also a nice feature would be that in "regular" mode one has to leftclick when mouse is at the (lower or upper, depending on where the dock is) edge of the screen to call the dock. So it won´t come up unwanted but when wanted. Sorry if some of these were already discussed, but this thread has so many pages, I coudn´t read them all before.
I'm having the same problem with automatic crash reporting failing (Vista/Win32)
Probably too late for this beta but worth putting out: The ability to open zip files with OD and have them auto-install to the proper directory just as WindowBlinds does. Messing with windows explorer to extract files is anathema.
Edit: Yup. Navigating to the program folder and manually unzipping is soo 90's. Worse are the zip packages that incorporate tab *and* zoomer docks in one folder. I don't have the time to manually go in an separate out for 2.0's new folder scheme. This should have really been automated. Sorry guys, I'm kind of nonplussed about this one. Automated installations >> reflections for me. Still a customer though.
Ok, so does anyone else have a problem with windows stalling when you restore them after you minimize them into the zoomer? And to clarify, im not talking about displaying the windows as thumbnails, im talking about actually minimizing them into the zoomer
If you mean you have to click like 3 times on the zoomer icon to get the damn window back on top? Oh yeah, gets frustrating sometimes. Of course I'm finding it's another one of those bugs I'm having a hard time nailing down because it doesn't happen all the time. Like right now I have 3 windows, and they are all behaving at the moment.
One reason is that most people don't use the .dockzip method for auto install is because it creates additional folders in your "My Documents" folder. And when this happens the custom Plus/Minus images fail to work. So that...and the extra folders are 2 reasons I won't use the .dockzip method for auto install of dock backgrounds. It was a nice idea but it was executed poorly. And I'm not sure yet if this was even implemented in the 2.0 version since I've yet to install it because of all the bugs.
not really, what i meant was if you have a zoomer showing all windows, then go into that zoomer settings "on my dock/taskbar option," and unchecked "always display windows as thumbnails," it will which to "minimize windows in to the dock" where the the windows will minimize to whatever zoomer you have that option set to.
But i action have another problem with the start menu after applying a WindowsBlind theme. Whenever i click start icon on the zoomer in win7x64, the right side of the start menu appears without a background, but it works fine when i just click on the windows taskbar icon, as well as when i press the windows key on my keyboard
That also happens with Windows Aero, but is less obvious due to the colours used in the startmenu.
I didn't see any response to this one. I hope this gets resolved as 32px is too big.
Hi all,
Just purchased ObjectDock today have been using DellDock for the last couple of months but run into some probs with v2 of that and had to revert to v1.
I'd just like to suggest that ObjectDock v2 have the 'catergories' feature like the DellDock has as this is my biggest problem with ObjectDock at the moment.
At the mo i have just four catagories on my DellDock but if i use the ObjectDock that relates to 23 actual icons/programs. I believe you can use the feature on the tabbed dock but hope it will be available to use on the zoomer dock.
Cheers
Dave.
Hey guys,
Love 2.0.
A couple of minor things to note: 1) Photoshop doesn't minimize to a zoomer dock that's set as a taskbar with minimized windows. 2) The icons on a zoomer dock set as a system tray for applications keeps changing back to their original ugly icons.
Also, I had a tabbed dock that would fully disappear (tabs too) and would open to the tab where the mouse went (without having to click) for awhile, but that seems to have disappeared. I keep fooling around with my docks, but can't seem to get those particular features back. Thanks in advance for all your efforts.
When will an update with some problems fixed?
The last update was 3 years before this one, so I *really* hope it's not that long.
On Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.
In the Zoomer Dock when I use view "show all running windows" or "show minimized windows" those items/programs show up on the (far) left side of the dock. How do I make them be on the right side of the dock instead?
Having them on the left is driving me nuts after years of having them on the right and all the docklets (especially the Start Menu!) on the left... Thanks!
P.S. totally willing to manually edit a config file somewhere
Not sure what you did but mine shows up on the right side of the zoomer dock... Wait Found IT !!!!!
Right click on zoomer dock--> Settings--> On My Dock--> Under More Options click on Taskbar Options--> Click on "Move the taskbar to the right side of the dock"
THANK YOU! I haven't yet ever clicked "On my dock" -- shame on me!
oops, dupe!
When I read that I thought of Jim Carey in "Bruce Almighty" and pictured Jeff Bargman sitting at his desk with a bazillion postit notes plastered to his forehead!
Sorry, I don't have any release information on ObjectDock Beta updates yet.
actually this is not a bug: "the missing beta version (freeware\minus)"
but I would like to know if there will be the "freeware" version with the final OD 2.0 release ... hopefully earlier
Most likely, but I haven't been made aware of specific plans.
