Richter {^}
Who is the character behind Richter Abend
In the world he lives in; Richter is a half-elf, a minority in his world, thus he is often discriminated against because of his race, even though there are no notable physical differences between the two. He starts as a researcher, along with his only friend, a human Aster, studying the world's declining state and trying to associate it with accepted science. Together, they come to the conclusion that an entity is controlling the world's levels of mana (life energy) and they leave the research facility together to test their theory. While searching for this theory, they are often attacked by monsters, and Richter finds himself capable of heavy combat, thanks to his half-elf heritage and extensive knowledge of the creatures. Eventually, he and Aster come to the dwelling of the Spirit, Ratatosk, who is controlling the world's mana by using monsters. Aster and Richter confront Ratatosk about the state of the world, and ask what is causing it and if he can fix it. Ratatosk replies that humans, and half-elves, are to blame for the declining health of the planet, saying they are mere pests leeching off the health of the world. Aster rejects, saying that humans are just as important as anything else, and is killed by Ratatosk, Ratatosk saying to Richter that the world is far better off without that pest. Richter, enraged, fights and defeats Ratatosk, but is unable to kill him, as he is stopped by Ratatosk's servants. Richter then sets out to get stronger, kill Ratatosk, bring back his friend Aster and to find a way to keep out the Demons that Ratatosk kept at bay. Eventually, Richter figures that since his body naturally produces mana, which is toxic to the Demons, that if he can stop his internal clock and enhance his natural amount of mana, he'll be able to use his body to seal the gate to the Demonic Realm, saving the world from the Demons and Ratatosk. However, his plan fails, because he is stopped by a newly strengthened Ratatosk and his acquaintances/servants.
Richter is a detached individual, mostly a result of childhood discrimination for his being a half-elf. He is also bold, and says that he has a bad habit of being "Short with people". He hates when people don't stand up for themselves, and also hates people who have no individuality, and base their personality off of other's. Richter fights using either magic (being a half-elf, he can use magic for combat and healing purposes) or his dual Sword and Axe. He's fairly tall, the tallest in the series, has long red hair and dark green eyes.
"Courage is the magic that turns dreams into Reality""You Humans have been discrimanatory towards us Half-Elves for over a thousand years; it's natural for you to feel some fear or distrust""I think that emotions lose meaning when they're put into words, that's why I only say what's absolutely necessary""My Goal? It's to kill you, and banish Ratatosk from this world!"
OH SNAP!
K read all that now. Fairly interesting.
I noted the sarcasm.
I thought I read the whole thing...did I miss the name of the series or did you not put it in there?
-Twilight Storm, Acknowledges the Geass Guru is out of the office and will wait until he returns for a reply.
Storm I think its Claymore (sp?) he posted a vid in the chatroom (I will get around to watchin it ) a few pages back.
Whoops, sorry, Richter is actually in an RPG I play... and he's the primary antagonist.
It bugs me that he's the antagonist in it, because the only person who stood up for the protagonist at the start was Richter, and in the end the protagonist has to defeat Richter... the only person who showed him kindness.
Richter -->
No, actually, it's not Claymore. Claymore is about a world in which demons known as Yoma are born from the suffering of man, and they feast upon the organs of humans. The only way to combat the Yoma are with creatures called "Claymores" by humans, named after their large Broadswords that they carry. Claymores are all females (males can't control the power adequately, we'll get into that later) and are 1/2 Yoma, 1/2 Human. The plot of Claymore revolves around the Claymore Clare, and her human compainion as they travel killing Yoma for the "organization" that makes Claymores. Clare is actually only 1/4 Yoma, and is as such, the weakest of all Claymores.
Anyone else notice he didn't mention the actual name of the RPG? Again?
-Twilight Storm, is unamused.
I did....
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. For the Wii.
HAPPY?
FOR THE WHAT?!!!
I do believe that is a tad of an over-reaction.
There are some Wii games that I think are quite good. For example, Super Smash Bros, Metroid Prime Trilogy (and by extension Metroid Prime 3) and the Super Mario Galaxy games. Maybe Mario Kart, but it is sort of generic.
That's right, three games I thought were genuinely good. Three. Hmm... Now I see your point.
Random recollection! Did any of you play Lego Racers when you were younger? The PC version, because the others apparently weren't as good, and I played the PC version.
No.
And, yes. The Wii Sux, as of yet, this game is the ONLY game I like for the wii... I wanted a PS3 (which now has motion-detection) but NOOOOOO
You, sir, have had a deprived life...
Honestly, back in the day (AKA around when I was 6-7, something like that) Lego Racers was the height of ingenuity. I mean, you built your own cars! And then lost while racing because the game was more difficult than most modern racing games (they hadn't invented adaptive difficulty back then, evidently).
Anyway, recollection over.
Hm.
From the ages of 7-10 I used to play the online game Drone Racing Challenge, where there were competing teams, each w/ their own basic strenghts and weaknesses, each competing for control over a zone. Control of a zone was determined by the teams win/lose rate in that zone. I was a member of the great Team Nitro, we specialized in traction and customization, and we also had the largest number of members. I was Team Nitro's 3rd President (elected), and our 2nd best active player at the time. There were 4 other teams, RED (power), who were often last, Zero (balance) who were our primary competitors, Maverick (upgrades) the 2nd worst, and HOT (chassis strength) who often times claimed No. 1 on 3 of the 7 zones. Nitro had 2-4, depending on my activity, and Zero had 1-5, depending on whether their leader was online.
Aaanyway, for me, the main selling point of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World was that you can befriend, teach, and fight with, monsters.
EDIT\\\ Whoops, sorry, the Drone Racing Challenge was a LEGO game.
Yeah I remember that. Didn't really play it though, because my internet sucked. Anyway, I've heard of ToS, but never actually played it.
If you've heard of it, most likely you've heard of the Gamecube version(s) of it, Dawn of the New World recieved a bit of skeptisism, with ratings ranging from 8/10 max to 2.5/10 minimum.
I feel sorry for you guys...I played Pokemon from like 4-15
Started playing my gamecube again yesterday some really fun games especially LoZ:Twilight Princess and Lost Kingdoms 2.
So, anyone heard about the
BRAND NEWPS3MOTION SENSOR
Which is not only more accurate than the Wii's, but can also detect movement in 3D.
Thoughts?
