Harpo, thank you very much for these files. I have Trinity 1.37 and I just can't get the bin to txt conversion to work, even with your utility or the command prompt method in myfist0's tutorial. So these files meant that I could start learning to mod. (The Trinity ConvertData_ .exe create a brief black popup, but don't change the bin nature of the .entity files; your textbin gui yields empty destination folders or hangs up; and the command prompt gives 'is not recognised as an internal or external command.' I'm a novice at this stuff so it's probably me doing something wrong). Now if I can work out how to give you Karma!
zanypilot, the convertdata is a COMMANDLINE program NOT a GUI program, and when you attempt to use it in a batchfile or as a single file convert in the command line you MUST repeat MUST give the convertdata all the parameters including the full path to the convertdata, as far as my textbin gui I have blocked attempting to convert the files in the program files tree to prevent corruption of the actual data to run trinity/sins/rebellion, so if you had COPIED the entire trinity folder to another tree/drive or branch the textbin gui would allow you to convert the COPY, but not the program files set.
Thanks Harpo. Probably best if I reply on your '{utility release} GUI for convertdata to automate the conversion of files in folders between BIN & TXT' page. My reply seems more relevent to that thread.

Any updated reference files floating around? Always good to have, great of you to have kept them updated so far, Harpo! (Been using them a few times.)
the latest releases ARE up, BUT if you are refering to the BETA rebellion 1.5, the ConvertDataRebellion.exe for 1.5 has NOT been made available yet to my knowledge. and the updated convertdata is VITAL to the production of the ref files.
correction have just seen that 1.5 has been released, and am downloading at the moment
uploaded the rebellion 1.5 refs to my dropbox, and uploading a zip version to wincustomise, links in OP
Needs an update for the 1.5+ DLC now
majorstress I do have the dlc, but the files should have the dlc entities in them, but as when I had downloaded the update in dribble I had not registered it.
/edit 3
All resolved to the beat of East Indian lottery music.
updated the op with links to the 1.51 refs both dropbox AND wincustomise.
Harpo, your first post is a god damned mess.
Thanks!
rubbleiron 1.52 hotfix refs now up in op,
AND NOW NO ATTEMPT TO KEEP TIDY!
Where can I find the reference files for the last version from entrechement or the program for convert them? I have found at your skydrive and I can not find it.
nomada I do NOT have a 'skydrive' I have a dropbox, but here are the entrenchment refs links (dropbox)https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8023186/current%20sins%20ref%20sets/Entrenchment1.053.rar ,vaniila sins (dropbox)https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8023186/current%20sins%20ref%20sets/Sins%20of%20a%20Solar%20Empire%201.193.rar , and the diplomacy refs (dropbox)https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8023186/current%20sins%20ref%20sets/Diplomacy%201.34.rar .
the method I use to make the refs is update the game, COPY the entire game folder to my ref files area,re-name the folders to the current version number, copy the current convertdata*.exe's from the game folder to the folder with the text bin gui, add the version numbers to the file names for the just copied convertdata'a, then run my text bin gui and convert all files to txt from my ref files folder, then rar each of the expansion folders, and in erach of the rars delete the movie, sound & texture folders along with the executable and library (dll)(excluding the convertdata's and files NEEDED by the convertdatas), then upload to the dropbox and wincustomise.
Yeah sorry, I have my head full of stones, it was at https://www.wincustomize.com Thanks by the links and the info.
Just a question, have you tried convert the entity files from the last sins of a solar empire v1.195 (the last version). For Diplomacy the last is the v1.37 and for Entrenchment is the v1.055.
Perhaps some people find crazy edit the older SOASE but at difference from Rebellion, it works when you are out the net without steam. Yes steam can work disconnected but first you need connect one time and after a few time, probably it will not work more, specially if you install any program and probably when windows makes their own backups from the register.
At the end, I can edit the old game working with some stuff for the newer Rebellion and enjoy it.
the text bin gui (rebellion compatible) does work with vanilla, entrenchment, diplomacy AND rebellion as long as the PATH to the files contains the 'expansion' name (and If the path does NOT have a version number it assumes it is the CURRENT version and uses the convertdata from the game folder if it does not find an un-numbered convertdata for the expansion in the folder it was run from, and can even convert ALL in the one run if they are in seperate folders within the same path, BUT if there is no expansion name in the PATH it will assume it is for vanilla sins.
regarding the dribble I have found that it insists on connecting atleast once a month or it refuses to allow the games to work even when it is set to offline mode.
Hi guys, i have downloaded the files, but i do not know how to install them. What do i do? Thank you for paying attention to the question.
the ref files ARE an archive file set that has the texted version of the game files in the correct folders.
to extract the files & folders from the archive you will need a archive manager that can work with the file type of the archive (windows does already support the zip file from wincustomise, BUT the rar from my dropbox needs either winrar or 7zip to open it)
once you open the archive (usually by doubleclicking on the archive file (when you have an archive manager program that works with the archive type)) it usually opens another window showing the files AND folders, then just select the folders & files you want to extract and drag and drop them where you want them.
and yesterday I uploaded in the op the rebellion 1.8 refs
Thanks by the last 1.8 refs. I could update my mod to the last version with them.
I cannot find the 1.8 refs in the original post. Am I blind?
