for you.
Maybe i'm being dumb, but where do you put these files for Rebellion? I know how to mod the other expansions, but I can't find any reference to where the Rebellion files are located on my computer. It's like the game isn't actually installed.
I play it through Steam if that makes a difference. All that I can find are a few folders with icons, logs, or uninstallers. But no Rebellion game files.
OMG... thank you! I needed these!!! I haven't been able to get my copy of rebellion to convert to text for some reason... you just saved me a bunch of frustration!!!
matressofevil, the game files ARE stored in the steamapps folder under steam,
BUT
the mods(and mods you are creating) SHOULD be placed in the "my documents\my games\ sins of a solar empire rebellion\mods-rebellion v1.041' folder for rebellion 1.041.
justjim, glad you find this helpful.
Harpo, thanks very much for the files we can manipulate for rebellion.
now, where would i find the instructions for putting "My personal changes for sins rebellion" into rebellion so i can play my changes? For right now i just want to upgrade the starbases to actually have "extended range" that means half of the gravity well and for all bases to move.
To me doing that would go along way to balancing the game. It sucks and is a waste of funding to build an immovable piece of crap that the enemy can just fly around out of the range of it.
first step is to create a mod folder in the 'my documents\my games\ironclad games\sins of a solar empire rebellion\mods-rebellion v1.041' folder with the name of your mod,
then create a folder insode your mod's folder galled gameinfo, and place your entity files in this folder, (btw you only need to place the entities that you change or add) and if you create new entities or want to remove entities from the game you will also NEED to have a 'entity.manifest' in the root folder of your mod otherwise the game will minidump.
for the range of the starbase weapons all you need is the starbaseRACE.entity and StarbaseWeaponUpgradeRACE.entity files, as for the moving starbase you could need to remove some of the entities and alter the starbase abilities eg frigate factory to free up the first three buttons of the second row for the movement commands..
but most of this info can be obtained in greater detail from myfist0's sins modding site http://soase.x90x.net/
Thanks harpo for keeping so up to date I just love modifying things from time to time and thanks to you I am actually able to quite easily
now uploading to my dropbox the 1.1 rebellion ref files. and will update the op when they are up.
OP now has links to rebellion 1.1 ref files
Went to get the 1.1 files and got this.
This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!
Just to tell ya.
yes the ref files are TOO popular.
I have uploaded to https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_mods/152/download, but have no idea when it will be approved, but the zip is 10 mb larger than the rar in the dropbox and both wor compressed with the best compression for the format.
and just received the email that it has been approved at https://www.wincustomize.com/viewskin.aspx?SID=1SkinID=152LibID=71
That last link is a bit of a dud, goes nowhere near the mods section.
Right-click the green download button and copy the direct download link.https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_mods/152/download
then I use a pic for a direct download button with the the above address and the title links to the WinCustomize page using the address below.https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_mods/152/
As the version changes, you can re-upload to the same page and your external links will still work. That's why I used to keep the versions in the description, I had a lot of external links I did not what to update.
Feel free to copy the above links and pic if you like.
Also request permission to link this file to soase.x90x.net/?i=modding/Mod_Tools
myfist0, you already have permision to host my file in youe website, so there is no reson to ask again, and thank you for giving me links that will work.
just to let everone know Iam in the process of uploading the stopgame sourced update (to trinity from 1.34 to 1.35) reference files, and will update the op when the refs are uploaded AND releaed by wincustomise.
the stopgame trinity 1.35 refs have been approved and are in the op.
and they were converted with the 1.34diplomacy,1.053 entrenchment and 1.193 oroginal sins convertdata's so should be minimal changes from the stardock 1.34 trinity sets.
I have uploaded the stopgame diplomacy 1.37 ref files update to wincustomise at (https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_mods/157/download) when it is authorised you can download. now authorised
I have Downloaded reb 1.1 reference files from WinCustomize and they seem to be missing the Window folder brush files.
Also, all the mod folders are updatedMods-v1.195Mods-Entrenchment v1.055Mods-Diplomacy v1.37
Has anyone checked for file changes?
karen_sjet, in the diplomacy update there was only two entitys that had changed(buffculturalintegrityplanet & buffharmoneyself) and three other files (english.str,screenfrontend.brushes & steammainmenu.screen), and regarding the rebellion windows folder, I had missed the folder during the setting up of the archives, and will re-convert and upload again.
regarding the changes for entrenchment(from trinity) there are five entities that have been removed (frigatephaseheavy, frigatephaselight, frigatephaselongrange, frigatepsirefinery, frigatepsiseige) one mesh added(capitalship_techbattleship) and three files changed ie english.str,mainmenuscreen.window & screen-frontend.brushes)
regarding changes to vanilla(from trinity) they are change two files (englsh.str & iologinscreen.window) and remove three unused meshes (supportship_phasegunship, supportship_psidecoyfighter & supportship_psigunship).
there was no changes to the seperate vanilla and entrenchment releases only the trinity releases
upload completed, and now authorised at wincustomise and the link is https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_mods/158/download
I figured the regs would know Karan is myfist0 and I forget to change logins when doing the Homeworld page.
If you like I will put together some coverart for the WinCustomize Pages. With a good description and coverart, SD gave me 5 stars when I was hosting the ref files there.
Modding SoaSE first requires the files in BIN format be converted to TXT format. This includes all modifiable TXT format files for [insert version]
I already got the Reb Window folder from psy so I could help with the SoA port to Reb by a lot of guess work.
Thanks for the great upkeep on these files.
Mephistopheles
considering that the username myfist0 joined in jan 2010 and karan_sjet joined in december 2012 it was reasonable to assume that they are different people along with the ~1 million users between them in their member numbers.
Reference File Archive.7z 21.6mb
To bad WinCustomize will not take 7z archives, 7z does all 4 versions as 1 file if duplicate. All 4 vrsions only 21.6 and all in one download.
I would have even accepted rar as they save about 10mb on the rebellion refs, but 7zip would save even more, but I guess that wincustomise is showing their age in only supporting/allowing the ancient zip format rather than the the more effecient rar and 7zip formats
And the reason for each expansion being a seperate file is for those modders that only want to work on a given expansion can get the expansion without all the others, eg those that only want to mod rebellion only need the rebellion refs, or those that want only the vanilla get the vanilla refs, but the entrenchment and diplomacy modders need to get vanilla refs, entrenchment refs & possibly diplomacy refs.
