hello recently i discovered a new program which is more powerful than logon studio
saurabhorange logon screen changer 1.0
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/saurabhorange-logon-screen-changer.shtml
Well saurabhvyas...Trust once lost is not easily regained. Honestly is always the best policy.
And of course it would be nice of us to trust you...which is what you lost...now you have to work even harder to regain it...simply asking for it now doesn't work. you have to regain it...kinda sucks I know...but you'll learn.
Asking people to now support your "alternative" as the best now will be difficult for 3 reasons. The first being again your initial approach of deception which was pretty obvious from the beginning and second your continued attitude..."so what?" Third, your trying to push your "alternative" on the very site that developed the software in the first place while completely ignoring that fact.
How would you feel if someone came to your house and did that? It's hard enough coming to someones house honestly to tell them your stuff is better...but you really screwed the pooch with your initial approach.
I have no doubt your proud of what you accomplished...but you dropped the ball when you tried deceiving people on this site. Not a good thing to try...especially here...we can smell deception a mile away and that is quickly dismissed. Hopefully you will learn from this experience and not keep repeating it. Consider yourself lucky that your even still here and haven't been banned from the site. Your responses from here on will be very critical to your future on this site. Choose your words very carefully.
And next time be honest about what you would like to do and you will get a lot further.
And another thing to keep in mind. Now that you've made yourself known here...people will instantly recognize you and your invention anywhere else on the net and you will be quickly exposed if you try this again. There's that honesty thing again. So I hope you know see what I mean about "regaining trust." It's best not to lose it in the first place. Honesty "is" the best policy.
There's a little saying you might want to remember.
"Your actions speak so loudly...that I cannot hear what your saying!"
saurabhvyas - What you are is RUDE! You are trying to compete against this company? Let me give you a hint. Rudeness is unacceptable behavior anywhere and hardly the way to win friends and influence people much less convince them to try your software. I think I will be staying with Stardock and company. Your behavior has done nothing to inspire my confidence.
691 downloads and 23 user ratings at softpedia, how is this thousands; LogonStudio 1.7 at cnet had 9375 downloads in the last week.
You should also have screenshots of how it looks applied to XP and 7 so people can see what they are getting, not just pics of the app.
LogonStudio works on 32 bit XP, 32 and 64 bit Vista and 7, yours works on XP and 7 32 bit only, how is this more powerful.
The bottom line Saurabhvyas is that Stardock has produced a program that allows the user to change the background image of the logon screen. Nothing more, nothing less. I assume you are familiar with this product, so can you please tell me how your "more powerful" logon changer improves on this. The difference is not apparent from following your supplied link; in fact, it only serves to confuse matters.
By what I have seen, there is no way a just wet behind the ears programer is going to have a better Logon screen program than what is offered by Stardock. Stardocks Logon Studio for Vista and W7 works great in 64 bit. I do not think if I just became a member today I would be bragging on my self how good my program is. Maybe he should learn before he can run with the big dogs he has to learn to piss on tall trees first.
Since it does not run on 64 bit I certainly for one would not want it or recommend this upstarts program to anyone
I expect that is not going to happen, particularly not the logo.
No, you are correct. A minor cannot enter a contract [without parental/guardian consent].
Now, all that aside, folks, what say we all lose OUR attitude?
A youngster has had a go at developing his own 'skinning/customizing' software and has announced such here on our forums.
The LEAST we can do is provide some form of encouragement.
Arrogance isn't monopolized by youth.
Once upon a time there was Neil, Jorge, Nick, Francis, Rolf, and countless others who 'entered' the skinning scene and without whom there would be none....
It does sound interesting but, I have been using Logon Studio for quite some time and has always performed very well for me.Thanks anyway though.
Almost all has already been said, but I guess I can add just a little bit more advice.
Two years ago, I wrote an alternative to LogonStudio Vista to learn WPF and keep my C# skills up to date. It supports almost all the logon screen elements (buttons, overlays, start orb animation, sound, etc.), runs as standard user with only a small process running as elevated to actually do the logon changing work and even has support for logonstudio XP & Vista files format via plugins.
Without even having to try your program, this gives me a very good idea of why you do not support Vista at this time...
Now, even with my own program having more features than LogonStudio, I would never even try to call it better. Those things are hard, it involves doing stuff you're not supposed to do. And so, in some cases there is a good chance you could render people computers inoperable (not completely useless, but just restoring from the last known good configuration is already too much for most people). LogonStudio has one crucial feature: it has been tested and deployed on millions of computers. And that's something you just cannot replace.
You're only 13, and learning how to program and getting a head start is a very good thing. But you still need to learn something very important if you want to be a successful businessman and even more so a successful programmer: humility. A lot of people know a lot more than you do, probably a lot more than you can ever learn. So try to find those people, just sit and listen, and try to learn every bit of knowledge they'll throw at you. Believe me, this will make you a better person.
And maybe some day, people will come to you to ask questions
thanks little boy
one more thing
who developed logon studio i mean the name of people
and in which programming language
LogonStudio is written in a .NET language, probably VB.Net (with lots of pinvoke calls for all the file manipulation/permission logic). It also uses DirectSkin for all the UI painting (hence why it doesn't look like your average .Net/native application).
As for the programmers who were involved in its development, companies usually do not like to disclose the names of their employees; so while I know a few people who worked on it, I'm afraid I'm not in a position to give you that kind of information.
soon i will update my software so it will also run on windows 7 64 bit
try if possile
I just had to think of our old friend aafuss *g*
saurabhvyas ....
13 yrs let me say at 13 noway I could have written a piece of software (course they really didnt have many PC's then) but its cool you are doing so well at such a young age!
I would like to loosely quote jafo from earlier and say ...Keep in mind this site is the pinnacle of UI customization and the users are also the customers. That having been said Wincustomize users are probably the most edjucated user base of this type anywhere.
I encourage you to keep going and Littleboy above really knows his stuff and offered some good words of advice.
Keep at it and Welcome to WC.
A/V
carl, i thought the same thing.
thank you

Nice work lackoo1111....
So it's got nasties in it (if I understood the language in your .png)....
Reported to WC Moderation.
now now lets not get an attitude - ppl here are very respectful but ausvet was merely pointing out the obvious. am sure many of us have downloaded supposedly super things only to get a super virus too
I'm more inclined to expect those to be false-positives...2 hits in 42.
If more AVs found issue with it you could trust their findings a little more...
