Senators Chuck U Schumer and Lindsay Grahmnesty have begun a new push for a National ID Card. This is really disturbing to me on so many levels. Its like 1939 Nazi Germany where everyone has to show their papers or something. Our freedoms are being stripped from us by authoritarians on both sides of the isle and its dangerous. When I first read Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty Four as a kid I thought it was a far fetched work of fiction, if we all need to start carrying and presenting national ID cards to buy/sell/work/pass or exist, then the book was actually rather prophetic.
Here in Ireland, like in Britain, there is a strong movement against the introduction of national id cards.
So instead banks etc. simply ask everyone for their passport.
Since I didn't want to carry a passport around all the time, I finally got a German id card that I use instead.
I don't know what Orwell said about id cards specifically.
Gotta love how the few seem to think they know whats best for the many.

I don't think he did, I was referring to the whole "big brother" idea in general. I thought it was relevant. I guess a guy who cites hyper-partisan websites to prop up his flavor of the month beliefs will find something amusing about trying to embarrass me by elaborately insinuating that I never read the book. Is it possible that I viewed the movie then?

Yeah I think the ID card is pretty much already a done deal, kind of like Social Security cards, though the switch from ID cards to microchips could be a long way off yet.
I have mixed feelings about it. If you show it to get a job then throw it in a drawer at home (like your Social Security card), then I not a big deal to me. We have to get illegal workers under control, and lets face it a fence is meaningless unless you space out a few machine guns along its perimeter.
That said, if it morphs into something more, like the social security number did (it's original ONLY function was to be your SS account number, not a means of identification) I am opposed to it. The problem has been, and will always be, that good intentions are often mutated into something else. So I'll be very interested in how this will be presented so that it will not infringe on citizens and legal resident's privacy, and if it can be made viable for ONLY the purpose they are trying to sell us. Plenty of other things need to go with it, like removal of current"anchor" baby provisions and serious fines for businesses and individuals that hire undocumented workers.
And to show I have a kind heart and don't want to break up families, deport all of them in order to keep them together.

I had to read both (1984 and Farenheit 451) as well as Cat's Cradle and Animal Farm (of those, I liked Animal Farm the best, and it perhaps shaped my conservatism). To this day when I hear Napoleon, I do not think of Bonaparte, but of the pig.
The irony is that if you read the original SS act (that has not been modified or over-ridden), the law explicitly states that no one can require you to produce or tell them your SS number, including other agencies of the Feds. Try to get around today without divulging it! hahaha
Consider that changed! I don't carry a phone with me most of the time. My husband and I share one mobile phone that we use mostly on trips. We have a very basic plan (300 minutes) and he takes it to work with him so people back home can call him if they need to.
The prophetic book I most pay attention to is the bible (big surprise right?) and it's clear that a one world order is coming and that no one will be able to buy or sell without some number. Just a matter of when not if. Our national accounting system is already gearing for this reality. It was supposed to happen next year but now has been pushed up to 2015 although some are still trying to get it sooner.

Seriously. The only element where "one world order" is mentionned is the millenia of peace between the two armaggedons. And it seems it mentions not a single world governement but a new order of things in the world.

Haha thanks well your the resident theologian here so you'll have to watch out for these types ofthings. I've always liked the parts of the bible that dealt with the antichrist, like Revelations, Corinthians, and Thessalonians.

I'm hoping you like those parts because you know that the AC is not going to be victorious in the end. Chap 13 is not the last chapter in the Book! Thank God!
Two armaggedons?
There's alot in scripture about the Kingdoms of the world in end days. To take the mark of the future world leader someday (AC) is an essential ingredient to make possible a cashless society which we are heading towards at a fast rate of speed.
Many will take the mark or they weill be unable to buy or sell. The most basic things of life like paying the mortgage, purchasing food, gas or getting medical attention will be denied them without this mark (whatever it is). The AC wants to be the center object of worship of a one world religion and a one world economic system. If successful, Satan, who empowers the AC will fulfill his dream of world domination which he tried unsuccessfully many times prior.
Chap 17&18 detail the destruction of Religious Babylon (all false religions) and Commerce Babylon (merchants of the earth).
From Chapter 21-22
A new world order with peace on earth, after the Battle of Armageddon, in the New Jerusalem. A thousand years of peace and prosperity on earth, after Armageddon, followed by another Armageddon. A city called the New Jerusalem descends from heaven. The New Jerusalem has twelve gates, and the walls have precious stones.
There. Pretty much the only reference to a "new world order", and it doesn't look like a bad place. There isn't any reference to an Antichrist during the Revelation either, for that matter. Other books mention antichrists, but these are merely people who are ennemy of the christ or deniers.
For that matter, "Christ" comes from "anointed" in greek. So in the original testaments, it simply means "the anointed one" (probably by God).
So all that crazy talk about "the Antichrist will be popular and talk about peace" is just pulled out of a hat. Talk about twisting good religion for political purposes. I think good religious folks should rather remember Mathew's gospel:
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
It's so easy to twist to bible to say what you find convenient.
Nationanl ID card is a normal thing for me. You're required to get one once you turn 16.. at least thats how I heard it. Germany has a lot of rules that allow the government to keep tabs on you. We have to carry ID cards that have you name, dob and place of birth as well, adress, eyecolour, height - and the picture they take is biometric. Everybody I know looks like they had been just arrested.. you have to look "serious" (bah). And then we have to register in cityhall exactly where we live, even if we move inside the same city. Doing so is required by law.
I have to admit that it sounds a bit opressive but I guess that I became used to it. All in all, we all leave alot of traces in the electronic world that allows accurate assumptions about who we are and what we do and whom we know that a small plastic card wouldn't make that much of a difference for you. The government can find you if they want to, with or without ID card.
this is NOT scripture, nor does scripture speak of two Armageddons. Nor will you find it in Rev 21-22 as you say. So where did you get this? Especially after telling me to "beware of false prophets?
You will find it in 16:16 where it says:
"And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon."

Yes, let's go to Matthew shall we? Jesus spoke of the Anti-Christ warning us what to look for. You can see that in Matthew 24:15. He also called Judas the "son of perdition" in the gospel of John. The AC is called the "man of perdition."

very. I started reading about end times dealing with all this way back in the early 70's when the reality of it all was surreal. There was no way we could actually comprehend these things especially when most people paid everything either by cash or check. There was no credit really and no computers, cell phones, faxes, etc. There was no way to hook us all up together until recent days. A national ID card is just the beginning. It will be a one world order card before we're done (or something along that idea). Some think it will involve a chip or something.
Everything I read way back then is a reality today. It's here exactly as predicted.

I don't twist scripture. If I did, you would be pointing it out to me wouldn't you? You haven't. I showed you here exactly where the battle of Armageddon is. It's not where you said it was.
Thank you! It was someone's opinion. Most of it was ok but the part about the 2 armageddons was not. This is going to be a pretty bloody battle with all the nations of the earth going in against Israel.
Much of this is actually coming from Daniel (although many scriptures elswhere are used) when it speaks of the world powers in the near future and the latter times. That's why Christ referred to Daniel in his mention of the AC in Matt 24:15.
Some scriptures referring to this time; the power of the AC are:
"and in the latter time of their kingdom when the transgressors are come to the full a King (AC) of fierce countenance and understanding dark sentences shall stand up. His power shall be mighty but not by his own power (empowered by Satan) and he shall destroy wonderfully and shall prosper and practise and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand and he shall magnify himself in his heart and by peace shall destroy many; he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes (Christ) but he shall be broken without hand (God's power)." Dan 8:23-25
A description of the one world order is found also in Daniel 7 where we see that the AC will march to power by subduing three of the 10 great nations at the end. He will blaspheme God (v25), will try in some way to change times and laws in order to promote his AC program (v25) and will persecute God's people (v25).
Paul spoke about this AC in his letter to the Thessalonians when he said this:
"....who opposes and exalts himself (AC) above all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God showing himself that he is God." 2 Thess 2:4
Of course Revelation 13 is all about the AC and his world power. His power will be great but he will only be in operation for 3 1/2 years and he will be brutal. It says there in v7:
"and it was given to him to make war with the Saints (Christians) and to overcome them; and power was given him over all kindreds and tongues and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him..."

I was going to buy one of those USB sticks that connect to mobile broadband yesterday evening. The offer was for people affiliated with an Irish university, which I am.
I went to the mobile phone store of o2, the company I have my mobile phone contract with. I showed them the university ID and they accepted that as proof for the university affiliation. They also accepted my existing contract as proof of address.
Then they wanted to see an ID card or driver's licence.
I said I didn't have a driver's licence and no ID card with me either.
Now I have to go back with an ID card or passport. I have two passports. I also have a (German) ID card.
and that's just a shadow of what is to come under the one world order system run by the A.C. Only if we reuse to take his card/number/chip we will not be able to buy or eat. That's when we will have to rely on others big time.
I also ran into a problem when I was coaching a HS sport. I had coached for years when I was informed I would no longer get paid unless I had a direct deposit. I was against that and even offered to pick my check up personally (to save postage) and they refused saying I would be let go if I refused. Sign of the times. After a while, we will be desensitized by all this, especially the young people and it will seem like nothing.
That's the whole scary part of the deception.
