Battlefield Bad Company 2 was released yesterday, and I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet, but I’m seeing huge raves from my gaming friends about it so far. If you are playing, let me know how it is and please post some cool screenshots!
I have been tracking this game for quite some time. Didnt like the original too much, but I played the ps3 beta and the ps3 demo and finally picked up the game yesterday. I just gotta say that this game is amazing. The weapons feel perfect, just like they would in real life. People take what I feel is just the righrt amount of damage before they die, classes are balanced and have great diversity, (most) maps are good. The singleplayer is actually pretty good so far too, which is a huge surprise to me.
My only complaint is that the classes dont start out with all their class gear, like the assault classes ammo box, the recons motion sensor, and engineers repair tool. And the Medic doesnt have anything at all at first. That's right, neither the medkits or the defribs to revive people. Which means level 1 medics arent actually medics, they are just guys with LMGs. It took me about 2 games to get most of that gear so its not a big deal, but Its still stupid. That being said the game is wonderful and I highly reccomend to anyone put off by MW2.
It's outstanding. And very challenging. Battlefield is my favorite FPS series by far. This is a worthy addition to the library.
I'm not. I have some sort of problem where, no matter the servers distance from me, I clock in at 300+ ping. Even if I can tracert to the server and get 10.
=/
I'm having a great time so far. The single player is so so, but the multiplayer is everything the beta was and more (more than one map, really, really helps).
If any of you want, you can check out my clan server: [-Ex-] Exodus Jagerbombs. It's Los Angeles based, so sorry if you're east coast or in Europe.
Look for me on there as [-Ex-] aTomato
I'm actually enjoying the SP. Surely the MP experience is better, but SP is no slouch imo. I played the beta and loved it which is why I chose to pick up the game. Their MP system was a little flakey for me yesterday, most likely due to day 1 issues.
I expect to be playing quite a bit of bfbc2 in the future. I'm pacov online as well.
I have yet to try it, I had pre-ordered thru Steam and forgot it was gonna be out yesterday. I noticed when I got home from work and went to play Modern Warfare 2. Of course I waited till I finished playing and by this morning it was ready. I gave it a look but didn't have time to try it out. I will let you know and post pics later today or tonight.
A little BFBC2 video... Enjoy this video... if ya played MW2 you will get the joke...

I was having TERRIBLE issues with MP on launch day and some of today... getting kicked automatically after 3 minutes from all games, etc. I managed to get into a good server recently and have not issues... I think they may have fixed something server side now. Anyway, I absolutely loved MP once it started working right.
damn you guys being so mean.... won't even run on my computer as in well, getting a new one some time soon next month. i will never buy it on console.... man cod6 on pc was just a cheap port i want my money back for that.
I watched today a trailer of BFBC2. Started checking whether there's a demo... frigging thing's ended already. And no SP demo.
That's one lost customer. I loved original BF, i have BF43, that was pretty fun for a time being but didn't have enough maps.
Well, maybe not quite lost... if i get to play the game somewhere. The problem is, "somewhere" is gonna be hard to find... friend's don't have, nor interested, shops i visit don't either have consoles for testing (you know, in front of the shop) or if they have, the machines have some idiotic game like Guitar Hero.
It's pretty fun. Just been playing for a couple hours after getting from Impulse last night. Anyone have a suggestion for a clan? I'd like to find others that are mature and prefer team work and fun over swearing and kill count.
man got it yesterday.... even though my net is capped and i can't play online singleplayer was nice... then when my net was off peak today it was freaking fun online even though my kd was screwed better then codmw2
Well if you are simply looking for like minding people to play with, add me: pacov. The games much more fun when you have buddies you know in a squad.
Count me in for the ones having a blast with it!
Once I got in a good squad with people spotting and playing their roll, it really became fun. Can't wait to see what content gets released for it in the future. My username is David58117 if anyone sees me out there!
I just saw the reviews/trailers on Gamespy and Gamespot. The game looks really great. Are you concerned with the securerom drm/protection? Does it slow down your pc in anyway with other games?
How would the fps be with a Geforce 8800 at 1600x1050?
not liking it at the moment, I love destroying the enviroment, but except for that, its nothing like COD, and never will be. Maybe with more playtime, i will get used to it.
What is it that makes COD better in your opinion?
You're damn right, nothing like CoD. In fact it is far, far better.
I'm temted to say which if DICE will fix server issues it will be the best multiplayer FPS I'vep layed in my entire life.
I agree. Battlefield:BC2 isn't meant to be like Call of Duty. IMO, the Battlefield series is FAR superior than the CoD series for the simple fact that- 1. SP is more interesting. While BF1942 featured a campaign for each faction, you could also play most maps in a "skirmish" mode that was just you a bunch of AIs. How many SP-oriented people would have loved to play a skirmish-style deathmatch game on a campaign map of any CoD game? I am one of them and I'll bet a bunch of others would say "yeah, I'd love to do that".
The other thing is, that the Battlefield series is traditionally far different than the CoD series. It is based around capturing and controlling "Control Points", and not various game modes that really revolve around infantry combat. The Battlefield series gains its superiority from the fact that virtually any vehicle on the field of battle, so long as it isn't fully loaded or occupied by the enemy, can be boarded and employed by the player. It adds an element of warfare not seen in the often touted Call of Duty series. While in CoD4's SP campaign you would have to deal with vehicles, and even get to man the guns of an AC-130U in one mission, it lacks the tactical and strategic play of ANY BF game.
man its way funner then cod for sure but the server issues are bad but they should be soon fixed, if there not then thats gonna be very sad but the time i have spent on it even at the lowest settings and with some fps issues now and then its great as all hell way better then Cod6mw2
Anyone playing this on 360? How's the game on 360? My laptop ain't gonna run the game too well.
Are there any aircraft?
Would you recommend the game if one loved the original BF42? As i said earlier, i liked the way it looked a trailer but lack of demo (anymore) drove somewhat off. Halo3's getting bit old... and i've got nothing to do in MW2 anymore (prestige doesn't appeal, maps are too camping oriented). Of course i'm getting to Halo Reach beta later... but that's later and for limited time.
The SecuROM version is either a disc check or a one time activation (you choose which with a retail copy, or it's a one time activation model if bought online). So it shouldn't be running much in the background, period.
WTF? The forum ate my post. Or maybe moderators did. Unlikely that though. I blame forums. So... a new one. EDIT oh... "Forums restored from backup"? Didn't notice untill after pressing submit.
Soo... I went and bought the game for 360. Love it. Its BATTLEFIELD! It is very well balanced, looks very good too. Sounds are good but the echo effect irritates my ears, as i constanly, without pause hear something. During long sessions, this is annoying. So i have to lower the volume, and by doing so, i can't hear the dialogue or music. Though neither is really worth hearing... The campaign sucks, plot, level desing, AI, everything.
But the multiplayer rocks, as it always has with BF series. I find Rush a bit more interesting than Conquest, though mainly this is due there being too few Conquest maps. Lack of artillery, except UAV and Mortars, is a bit disappointing, loved firing 40 rockets from Iraq's MLRS in Desert Combat (in standard BF42, Artillery sucked (except the russian rocket launcher), though it was fun.) No planes is also a bit meh... but then, they'd be too fast probably.
Controls are a bit ankward, driving controls that is. Why there has to be "accelerate" and "decelerate"? Why couldn't left stick control those and the right turning (or in tank's case, LS the movement and RS the turret) like in Halos? "Fire" is on LB for some reason... Alternate controls are not any better. The controls work though, after getting used to them. While aiming with scope, there's too much dead zone before the controller responds... too fast. This makes fine aiming hard. Of course it could be my controller (all 3 are more or less broken or damaged, not to mentiong being flawed, like 9 out of 10 new 360 controllers are).
The game really feels Battlefield... The game's fast enough, strategic, and the front lines flow back and forth constantly. And of course there are Battlefield moments. I run (assault kit) towards A M-Comm, kill two enemies while running, arm the explosives, sit in corner and shoot the lone enemy that tries to disarm the charges. All happening withing couple of minutes.
What the game needs is more maps and the BF Theme back (the game doesn't have it :/ ).
Sounds good. I might buy it this weekend. Is there a demo to try the game?
Nope. There WAS... in Feb. It was then shut down. Stupid decision if you ask me. If you liked Battlefield [Insert number/place here], and you've got no problem with modern weapons and lack of true artillery or planes, i'd say you're going to like this. There are too few maps though...
Don't buy this as a single player game, it is not.
