Could someone from Stardock tell us when they expect the forums to be back online. In addition, the download of Galciv2 and Dark Avatar from Impulse seem to be corrupt. I've downloaded both games today but they don't work when I move from starting up a game (e.g. which opponents) to loading the actual game screen (e.g the star map). Also the tutorials in Galciv2:DL are missing, which seems to be strange.
It sounds like you have several, but unrelated, problems.
Exactly which forums are you talking about? The GalCiv2 forums have been up all along.
Corrupt downloads can be caused by several things, not the least of which might be malware on your system.
If you are having problems starting a GalCiv2 game, post the entire contents of the debug.err file into a reply.
That the forum doesn't work for you could be a problem at your hand. I'm currently experiencing the same - I can't reply to the last thread of the Kzinti Empire (when using IE as usual), but shifting to Firefox will solve that.
Really strange because I previously always used IE, but well, that's just how it is...
Thanks for the responses. I have solved he error with a registery fix I found in the bug section of the Galciv2 forum. The forums went online again after some time I posted this message on the Sins forum/websie. I don't have clue what the registry fix fixes, but it worked somehow. Now I can play this great game again! Are you guys still playing it?
You mean GalCiv2? Well, 5 to 20 hours each day... got a million in the make
Yes I mean Galciv2. It seems that you are one of the few active participants on this forum left. What kind of games do you play nowadays? 20 hours, you must be kiddin?
I've played some ZYW's, but in an all abundant setup. Tiny and gigantic. Scores are yet to be posted, I first need to get some big games finished for my new MV character. That was in DA.
Right now I'm back to DL trying to play a million point game. Last try with the Drath failed by only 20k points, but I'm optimistic with the new Yor-one, got a real good start and some tactics to try-out. As well as avoiding the errors I've done in the previous game - DL is quite different to DA/TA (or should I say it vice versa...)
Well, it's hard to believe, but it's true. GalCiv2 takes most of my time for now, and esp. on the weekends I sometimes even play longer than a full day. I just lay down to get my concentration back - and if the game is already advanced I'll leave the PC on, and assign a long AHK script to be played out once I'm asleep. That saves me hours.
I hope in the next weeks I can play on multiple machines, this will hasten up things, too. As it is now, I need two days for the first year (swindleing and colonizing 500 planets). I hope I can narrow it all down to ~50h effective playing time for a 1m point game, but the basic problem is the lag when more than 10.000 ships are involved....
Absolutely! You are not alone...
Maiden stop the bullshit...we know you never sleep
That particular problem is usually because someone has used MS Word to post some bogus html and that wrecks the page for IE but not FF. Usually Kryo can fix the thread but even if not when the thread gets to the next page then you're fine again.
Good to see that you and your wisdom are still around Mumblefratz! Have you already started playing DA? I just installed it for the first time, after playing DL since I bought the game.
I keep a pair of threads running in the Off-topic forum. Feel free to stop by and say hi but beware, I'm a pretty radical liberal and some folks seem to have difficulty with that.
Hehe, I knew there was a reason why I always find your posts so interesting. BTW, I'm also an electrical engineer, embedded stuff.
