Talk about anything here.
There is a key you have to assign to z axis movement. But I think it was removed from every version except vanilla
LOLZ
I just love the Harry Potter series
"We were inhuman beings....butchers on a field of corpses....corrupt and depraved....only a sum of viscera, blood, and bone - Creatures without soul."
That was because of the "I can shoot you but you can't shoot me" exploits though wasn't it?
All you need to do is allow the guns to aim downwards more, and for ships to roll to aim at higher or lower targets.
Yeah that was why. Becuase the ships can only fire in a 60 degree infront of them(some can do 90 or more.) The only structure that will turn to fight in the z axis is turrets which rotate in a sphere.
The other problem that caused them to leave it out was that it also messed phase jumps
The rotating guns was probably too hard to program? but the won't do the latter becuase the devs concept of intersteller travel is that movement can only be gained using mommentum for all non caps ships. Which all ships move then turn instead of turn then move. So rotation is impossible
All of you are talking about a bunch of stuff I am unfamiliar with.
Black Ops = Chatroom Killer
Meanwhile, have a GPMG.
Sorry for the picture quality, but anyway. As you can see, this thing's belt fed and is currently on a bipod. It has a maximum effective range of roughly 800 metres with burst-fire in this configuration (meaning that it will usually hit what you point it at, but being a suppression weapon, it is useful beyond that range). However, stick it on a tripod and it becomes a killing machine.
In the configuration you see here, we have 1800 metres of range, with sustained fire, meaning that you've got rounds constantly flying at you from almost 2km away. Crazy how sticking an extra leg on it extends its range by a kilometre. But the big question is, how would you this thing to kill someone up to 3000 metres away? Karma for a correct answer. It's pretty damn cool, trust me.
Just saw a double rainbow lol.
Thats cool, with the tripod stabilizing the weapon, allowing it to rotate 360 degrees and all, but how does it move up and down??
I dont have the answer to this, I'm afraid
Ok, I'll give it a shot: What if the tripod was welded to the floor, or something? Or maybe welded to the back of a Humvee, with its base allowing it to rotate 360 degrees? (Lame, I know )
Pics or it didnt happen
Just kidding....
Karma for finding where my sig is from, has been increased to , and is the final offer. I will reveal the answer in 2 days, if nobody finds it.
P.S. Is the GPMG related (or even the same) to the popular M60??
Here's what I found on Google so far:
The first 2 pics are the same base for the GPMG. The 3rd one is basically what I thought earlier, before I searched on Google. Its welded on a vehicle (I assume a Humvee??), allowing a full 360 degree rotation of the gun, as well as upwards and downwards. Seems like the best solution for near perfect stability.
Can I haz karma nao?
Wrong. Trust me, the answer's bloody epic.
Neither of the 2?
What about this:
If not, then grab an M4 Carbine, and do your job!
First pic needs fixing. or atleast I cant see it
We do not have rifles here so I am just gonna read
I think this pic was removed or something I visited the site where it was hosted, so I can post it again, but it said it is "no longer available".
Nope. Want me to tell you?
I sure do. Go ahead, spit it out
k
Or not. It works now
Sorry I was gone. Got grounded... (Still am)
Anyway; Other than Hannah biting my finger and inviting me to her house, nothing major to report. (Save for Mishayla and I having fun at her place, but that's my story) I did have this dream a while back that I wanted to post, tho..
Mist clears on a dark, cold winter's night in New York. The mist came from the heat from inside of a nightclub, outside of which three girls stand on the corner. The girls are obviously prostitutes, the only thing sparing them from the cops is the sheer darkness of the street they're on, the only illumination coming from the Pink and purple neon lights from the nightclub behind them. Clad in nothing but short skirts and revealing tops, the girls are huddled together for warmth. The one in the center is a tall brunette, the bustiest of the three, wearing a blue and black outfit. The one on the right is a shorter blonde, with long hair that trailed to her waist. Of the three, she was the one in the middle, in terms of height and chest size. She was clad in pink and white. The final girl, on the left, was both the shortest and had the smallest chest. Her hair was blonde, but was short and barely trailed past her neck. This girl was clad in black and red, but she alone had stockings on as well. She was also the only one wearing glasses. As the girls huddle closer together to fend off a sudden breeze, the roar of a car engine is heard rolling down their alley. They immediatley seperate and try to get the attention of the driver of the car, who stops. The car itself is a black Dodge Challenger, with purple vinyls on the sides. The windows of this car, including the windshield, are tinted black as well. The girls all quiver, both from the cold, and because of the oppourtunity for a job, yet the dread of doing said job. The passenger side window glides down, and the driver motions for the blonde girl on the left to get in. She gets into the car, glad to get out of the cold, but also unenthused about the work to come. The driver pulls away, and turns off his music*. The girl, curious, looks at the driver to try to guage his tastes. He is a tall, thin man, clad in a black dress shirt, a blue shirt underneath that, and black pants as well. He wears glasses, but it's too dark to see the color of his eyes, she notices his hair is short and dark, yet unstyled and messy. She decides to try to advance on him while he's driving, but he either isn't in the mood yet or is too focused on gliding the roaring beast of a car through midnight traffic and over the icy roads. They stop outside an apartment complex, which confuses the girl even more, as she's used to cheap motels. He tells her to get out and follow him. As they walk up, she's distracted by a family leaving the apartments, apparently for a midnight showing of a movie. She slips on a patch of black ice, and yelps. She closes her eyes, but before she hits the ground, is caught by the man in black. She opens her eyes (which she closed in anticipation for the fall), and locks her blue eyes on his intricate grey/green ones. She apologizes, but the man shrugs it off and carries her in. Finding this more romantic than sexual, she again investigates the man while she's in his arms. He's stronger than he appeared, and more broad shouldered. He also seems to have stubs on his chin, as though he had forgot to shave for the past few days. He sets her on her feet outside of an apartment, grabs his key, and motions for her to go in. She walks into a living room/dining room of sorts, with black leather couches, white carpeting and checkered tables and lamps. Before she can absorb the decor, she is forced onto one of the couches by the man in black. Expecting him to start up with her, she loosens her garb as best she can with her numb fingers, and prepares herself mentally, closing her blue eyes yet again. But instead of having this mysterious stranger fall on top of her, she gets hit in the face with a thick, heavy blanket, one that is oddly colored compared to the rest of the decor; it's bright shades of blue, yellow and green. Confused, she looks at the man, who is rubbing his temples with one hand, and holding his glasses with the other. She asks him "Alright, what is it you brought me here for"? The man looks at her, puts his glasses back on, walks over and says "I'm here to give you your life back"---
before she can answer, I awake in a cold sweat. Thoughts?
Xer0 \^/
*The music he was playing was "Stories with Unhappy Endings" by Hundred Reasons.
For the record, this sounds like it's part movie, could've become part wet dream, but in the end goes back to being a movie (as in a "pondering on life" movie, not a "fuck loads of women" movie).
I'm not going to "interpret" because it's up to you whether it means anything.
@Morph: So, the GPMG, affectionately known as the "Gimpy," can, with accurate map co-ordinates, be aimed at such an angle that bullets hurtle into the air. 3km away, Bobby the Taliban Terrorist has gravity-assisted bullets raining down around him. It's pretty damn scary that even 3km away you can come under accurate automatic fire... falling from the sky.
Xer07's story/dream:
1. I would like to say, that when I read the first part of the story, it seemed a lot like a quality porn movie, of some sort. I changed my mind very quickly.
2. This could very well be part of a Hollywood movie and/or part of a great book.
3. Honestly Xer07, this is definitely NOT a dream you had. It must be something you imagined/thought of. The amount of details mentioned on your story are impossible to remember, since you claimed its a "dream". Most people cant remember their dreams 1-2 hours after they wake up, and you remember even the slightest tiniest little details after days?? Yeah....right
That, or it really was a dream, and you just added those details to make an impression on your readers Well done, I bit the bait. It feels like reading a book, and I want to read the next chapter. You got me hooked
4. Hmm....3 girls, 1 brunette, 2 blonds, 1 tall, 1 medium height, 1 short. Why does this seem familiar somehow??
Clones of Mishayla, Hannah and Liz? Man with glasses = Dakota? Or not?
5. Dreams dont mean anything. If that was really a dream you had, and you want it to mean something, then I guess it does.
But frankly, to suggest that you can uncover some kind of useful information about yourself, or life, or whatever else from this dream, is downright hilarious. Its like suggesting that there is some kind of hidden wisdom within all of us, that can be uncovered through dreams.
Now, I dont know about you, but I usually pay more attention to Real Life matters, and "solid" things, than dreams and fantasies. I dont know what you expect me (or anyone else here) to tell you about your "dream", but.....surprise! : There's not much to say about it
KTHXBAI
Subtle, really subtle, mate
That pretty much summed up all I wanted to say quite nicely
Hmm...what you're describing seems a lot like the arrow volleys they used to throw at enemy troops, back when swords, shields and bows where the most modern weaponry available.
And of course, you cant aim properly that way. You can suppress the enemy forces, or get some "lucky shots", but really you cant take out an enemy you aimed at, thats for sure. For that purpose, and at this range, there are sniper rifles that will do a much better job than the GPMG. And unless the enemy forces are numerous, and out of cover, then you are probably wasting valuable ammo.
In that sense, all machine guns have about that range, so I guess the GPMG has a maximum range of 1800 meters of effective range.
By the way, you misspelled GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun)
Thats for the most part true. It is possible to calculate the area where bullets would land, but accurate aiming would be impossble becuase calculations cannot factor in things like wind speed and direction at that great distance unless you have someone there to relate that info to you
Good spot Mr Morph.
For the record, how many times do you reckon the Taliban are going to have vertical cover? They will either be prone or behind a hastily-constructed barricade. When I say "accurate" I mean that the majority of the bullets will be landing on their position. Not around their position, but on. How long can you realistically survive with full-auto rounds landing behind your cover of choice? Not long. Taliban goes
And also remember that a sniper rifle is limited by the fact that you have to have line-of-sight, obviously with the exception of, say, a small piece of cover which you know the enemy is behind. Sniper rifles aren't known for firing over the tops of hills.
On that subject, the next gun to be featured here is the L96 I promised a while back (got distracted by the GPMG!). Well, technically it's now an L118A1, seeing as there've been some slight improvements.
Because the type of movie in question is?
