Talk about anything here.
No, I dont know.
But there is no picking sides here, actually. Facts are facts, and you cant deny that a firearm is a lot more efficient and powerful than a bow
"Mr Anderson, welcome back....we missed you...."
Can they pierce ceramic and kevlar? I don't know, I thought that they were more effective against chainmail. They couldn't get through plate armour though, I don't think.
I think that, considering that bows can't penetrate plate armour, and that the musket made plate armour redundant by punching through that, that the gun is a more efficient weapon when it comes to overpowering body armour. However, current body armour doesn't cover the entire body...
Bodkin's are armor piercing arrowheads.
Ah, the good ol' days. . . .It certainly takes more thought and strategy to take down 12+SBD's than to camp&snipe in MW2. Good to know that people still like and play RC.
damn, 5 posts and a new page.
No they couldn't get rhough plate armor (nowadays) but you forget that armor in the middle ages had impurites and archery was more of a everyone shoot this general location than hey let's pick this guy off.
Oh, and don't forget C4-tipped arrows.
yeah but before there was this advancement on bows which could penetrate plate armour as well... uhh I'm lacking the owrd right now.... like a tiny two-hand bolt thrower.
in modern times these can be very dangerous, too. very silent. easy to obtain.
I've just finished Geonosis, and I have to say I love the bit where you're creeping through the droid production place. It's pretty cool when one of the Supers turns on and you've got to find a way to kill it without activating the others.
LOLZ
And HOW is that non-modern exactly?
Yes, because thats how archers with bows are more efficient in a war. Bows lack range, so by firing lots of arrows in the air, in an upward direction, is the best way to kill a group of enemies, picking targets from afar wouldnt do much good, due to short range of the bow, and loss of power across distances.
Armor is middle ages? Well, thats when it was used, duh And unless you use modern machinery to create the armor plating, it WILL have imperfections.
Yeah, but like Snipe said, can they pierce ceramic and kevlar?
I think you mean a crossbow, which is a very inaccurate type of bow.
Old design crossbow:
Modern hunting crossbow:
And actually, and old razor tipped arrow(Standard hunting arrow) will pierce kevlar, which is no better than a burlap sack against a blade. It's meant as a concussive deterent, not piercing.
But W/E, I'm not gonna join a smoldering conversation over this and push it over the edge.
I am not including hardened inserts for the razor arrows thing either, just your standard kevlar vest/flak jacket. (And yes, I am aware that kevlar is nearing its obsolete stages.)
Look up Spectra Shield armor if you didn't know that last bit.
-Twilight Storm | 20 save vs Lurker Trolls = Dodge Success!!!
Crossbow = MORE accurate than a bow.
Shortbow
Crossbow
Longbow
Recurve/Compound bow
In order of range(Unsure of which beats the other with the recurve/compound bows)
longbow
In order of accuracy.
Off my side of the topic, you undersold guns for range, there's a sniper rifle out there accurate to a mile and a half shooting a melon.
And you have to add the human factor in to stay on topic with this comparison, the weapons don't shoot themselves.
It all comes down to who sees who first, like I said before. You could have a M60, and an unarmed enemy, and If they see you first and are trained in hand to hand combat, you're boned.
How did this start anyway?
-Twilight Storm
Poor Storm......imagining trolling where there isnt any.....
Good points about the bows comparison and the sniper rifle range. I am not an expert on the matter obviously. Although I was refering to standard rifles, not long range sniper rifles, but anyway.
Yeah and then you go and bring in the human factor AGAIN. Now why do you do that when its clearly a weapon efficiency comparison, and humans have nothing to do with it?
But anyway, like I said, firearms are a lot more effective, and if I had to choose, I would definitely go with a modern weapon for sure.
And please dont add the modern bows to the list, we are comparing modern with old weapons here.
And of course modern weapons WIN.
obvious troll is obvious I'd say...
Meh, thats not trolling.
You only say that cause you bit.
You guys are funny
I just rememberred the last level on the abandoned cruiser. You're in for some chop.
Hey guys, you wanna hear something funny?
So, my country just bought 235.000.000 euros worth of trains, for the new railway network we have built. And.....guess what.
They made a mistake, and the trains dont fit in the tracks, they are too wide, LMAO
Greece FTL!!!
(i am useing the night raiders in my comments they are the best in the tribes)
a elite raider could stick an arrow in you from 140 yards long before you can aim your gun and pull the trigger...if he sees you first if not then he may die unless you miss then its even sorta a matron can do the same around 80 or so yards
and we do use explosive arrows made from common wild things aim for fuel tank anyone....
So?
How is that relevant to the "Guns vs Bows" discussion?
Ok, wait....I can top that, with some even more irrelevant arguments:
- An A-10 Thunderbolt pilot, drops a few AGM Maverick missiles on your head. BOOM, you're all dead
- Also, the Earth is round, and we live close to the star called, "Sun".
- I use a Nvidia GTX 260 on my pc, and even though its outdated, it still runs pretty good on most games, so I will not upgrade for a while.
There you have it. My arguments are a lot more irrelevant than yours. I win
how is thta not relvent
just stateing that we have the ability to blow you up
I have no idea wtf you guys are ranting about.
