What are the merits of Diplomacy getting its own Lobby and what seems like its own separate ICO server?
It seems like this could really fragment the community. Players on Sins and Entrenchment can chat with one another and deduce whether games are available for the other game by looking at the game's available count, but Diplomacy players are completely isolated. This may be good and bad. The good--new players who just purchased Trinity will get to play primarily with noobies or at least online noobies. The bad--they won't know or see that the Entrenchment activity exists unless someone tells them about it or they read the forums.
Could this move help keep Diplomacy online alive? I'm guessing that all of these new players will become used to Diplomacy and won't know what it is like to play Entrenchment without Diplomacy nor will they even see or be able to talk to Entrenchment players, so they won't feel like migrating to the Entrenchment community nor will they ever know that more people are playing Entrenchment.
its annoying, the fact that half of DT - BIA And the Sins skilled commnuity is on deplomacy, and the other half is on entrechment.
its quite silly really to separate two lobbies, they need to be merged into one
HINT----------> i can spot your smurfs whenever you use word dIplomacy
Really? Half of them are on Diplomacy? I thought most of the pros who had purchased Diplomacy rejected it and returned to Entrenchment.
i play diplomacy more than entrench.
I try to, but if I get on diplo and dont see any games available, I go back to entrench.
Someone created an Entrenchment game and player named: "Go Play Diplomacy"
My response to the name is not really suitable for posting here, but it was three words with the first one being "Go".
So what's the deal with Diplomacy? What are the online player counts like at various times? Does Diplomacy really add anything to the online humans v. humans locked team game? I'd like to hear only from experienced people who have been playing Sins online against other human opponents for over a year.
It's hard to want to go spend $10 more on a game that still has minidump and desync issues and low online player counts. It's just hard to do.
Is Diplomacy slowly killing Sins online? Now that the community has been split up, dividing an already small community, will this eventually prove to be the downfall for Sins online? Since Diplomacy came out, I have noticed that the player counts have dropped for Regular/Entrenchment. What's worse is that we can't see the Diplomacy players and they can't see us, so it's hard to invite them to fill Entrenchment games and it's hard for Entrenchment players to know whether or not everyone is playing Diplomacy.
The approach they should have taken from the very beginning was to make Vanilla, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy all work together. If you don't have a particular expansion, you can't play with those particular technologies and units, but you can still play in the same game with everyone else. This is the approach DOW 2 is taking with their Chaos expansion. It's a no-brainer, but especially with an online community this small. Or... perhaps it WASN'T a no-brainer, since the community is so small (i.e. it wasn't worth the trouble).
They should all be together, I haven't got a chance online since I got trinity so this makes me sort of sad face...
I believe sinners shouldn't have to choose between dimplomacy and entrenchment, its just not right...
I can sence his smurf whenever he open his mouth
Yes Diplo is killing sins online. Soon, sins wil be playabe only at weekends. Lack of new stuff for online pvp games, faster game speed created for Koreans ( we needed engine fix so the late game wont slow down so much) and separate lobby made it shit.
Maybe Klemz was right......
Well I can be on entrench and diplomacy at the same time.It is possible to get diplomacy in econ spot if another player has about 6 planets that you can placenvoys. You can get all pacts and they do become very powerful.Vas structure pact adds 25% hull points to all structures and ships.Tec can add something like 5 armor and 900 supply points with just a pact.
This led to disaster in Company of Heroes. The new expansions were never balanced well, but everyone was forced to play with the expansion factions and units anyway. If you ask anyone in the community today, they would tell you they would be overjoyed if they split things up so they could go back to vanilla only. Most people in the DoW2 forums are afraid of the Chaos expansion fucking up the game like with Company of Heroes since they will not have the option to 'turn off' Chaos if they are overpowered. Everyone is now stuck with it as there is only one lobby and matchmaker.
The only problem with Sins is that the Sins community is small to begin with. Dividing 1000 people into 3 seperate lobbies wouldn't be a problem. Dividing <80 people is.

Uh, turn off pirates and play at fast speed. It's now Entrenchment with pacts and envoys. How does this make the game worse in any way? Unless encouraging non-pocket players to make more than two civilian labs and making feeding harder is bad for the game somehow?
Online veterens complain Diplomacy is 'killing online Sins', but why the hell should new players starting with Trinity be forced to downgrade to Entrenchment because the online veterens are being selfish? If Diplomacy was totally imbalanced, I could understand; but I fail to see how adding some new civilian tech to counterbalance Entrenchment is bad. If you don't think it's worth $10, that's your choice. But don't cry about the community splintering because a large chunk of players decided to move on. Why shouldn't they use what they paid for?
