The Fallen are made up of many different races and creatures. Some of these creatures are sentient (or semi-sentient). Some are mindless and others, while lacking sentience have a cunning that makes them lethal.
This is by no means a complete list of Fallen creatures.
Trolls. Huge, powerful, stupid. Powerful sorcerers can charm them.
Edars. Rare but powerful Edars are incredibly dangerous with their elemental magic. Can be recruited – for a price.
Umderdroths. The Dread lady Umber bred these lethal killing machines as pets. Can be tamed by powerful channelers.
Daemons. No other way to classify these nightmarish creatures. Created by the Titans, they may be immortal.
Dire Wolves.
Dire Bears
Sions. Powerful users of a very specific magic. They can be recruited.
Man I wish I could make art like this.. I just bought my first wacom tablet, cuz I've only done pencil drawings (that i think are decently good) but am really interested in getting into a field like this one day when I go off to higher education. So I guess I'll find out soon enough if I've got what it takes, Any suggestions on what software I should use? Photoshop? Will Gimp Work? I don't have any money...
Anyways, if I can't make art I still enjoy looking at it, so thank you so much for sharing
Thanks! I really do appreciate the complement. I used the GIMP to make that image. GIMP is 80% the same as Photoshop, everything is just in a different place and it crashes more often. (Some of the Photoshop filters are better too) If you don't have enough money, GIMP will suffice. I started using Photoshop 2 years ago, and GIMP about 5 months ago, they're really easy programs to learn to use. Go online and search for tutorials, it's the best way to learn all of the tools. If you do decide to get GIMP, some of the most important filters are gaussian blur, line nova, supernova, IWarp, and Fractal Explorer. GIMP has a lot of filters that let you create stuff from scratch even if you have no creativity. (i.e. you don't need artistic talent or creativity for graphic design on computers, just technical skills)
Incidentally, it has not been named yet so feel free to suggest names.
New pair of boots?
We could start a poll to name this creature, maybe select 20 interesting names, of course no names that are rediculous.
This.
Gilligan
It seems like "d" and "s" are the two favorite letters used in your creature's names. Add "w" from swamp and you have : Dampwos, Swomad, Saarwath, Swaesoth, Maerswed for instance.
I think names should be consistent. Lord of the rings was such a blast because Tolkien was a linguist, and he really created consistent names, language, etc.
Please don't make new words just for the shake of it. Tolkien was an exceptional person, not everyone can pull that.
XKCD joke is really good about this one: http://xkcd.com/483/
Mire Skath.
The deadly Mire Skath is often the last thing venturers into the deepest Swamplands ever see. Only fire seems to keep the Skath at bay, and then only when it comes out at night to feed, or as the Swamplanders are known to say when travelling the deep swamp; 'Never venture far from your campfire at night or the Skath will have you!'.
Blackwater Beast.
The horrifying and near-legendary Blackwater Beasts are rare indeed, with many stories surrounding their existence. Some say they destroy settlements in the swamplands if they are not appeased or shown enough respect, others say they were once a proud, intelligent race who angered the Titans and were warped into a hideous monstrosity for their crimes, forever bound to wander the swamps. The truth is far more disturbing- the Blackwater Beast oftens takes it's prey without killing it; to feed live to their young.
Morasskin.
Ambushing prey by hiding under the dark waters of the swamp, the Morasskin's muscled body allows it to tense it's considerable frame for a swift, deadly ambush from the waters. Only the long fin that protrudes from the water whilst it swims allows those that travel into the deeper swamps to spot this creature before it's too late. It is said there were once many of these beasts (hence the compound name 'Morasskin' i.e Kin of those that live in the morass) but time and encroachment by the 'civilised' races has severely dwindled their numbers; but this is of little comfort to those that face them!
Kay, is this some of your work? If so, it's looking awesome
This is so good, just what we want in Elemental! Not only are the pictures good, but you have managed to capture the creatures' movement / poisture very well, like for the Dire bear for example. It just tells you so much of the creature and how it interacts with other species ...
Second that one - but only in the Arctic.
This is my favorite so far. It's simple and makes me think that this is what people would call something that they don't recognize. When the Romans first saw elephants (I believe in Pyrrhus' army) they called them "Lucanian Cows". A descriptor on something already familiar.
Canis dirus- more commonly known as 'Dire Wolf' has been extinct for about 10,000 years. It is not unexpected that those showing up would be... Decomposed.
Wiki
I actually liked 'Bog Wolf' as a name.
In general I like that 'descriptive' type as a direction for names. 'Edar' doesn't say anything to me. Neither does 'Sion'.
Bog Wolf or Fen Feeder straight away give an idea of what it is. Like Dread Spider.
Swamplodocus ( Swamp-low-dock-us ) or Sailbackodon ( Sail-Back-O-Don )
They are so random but they popped in my head.
If not, IT SUCKS!
(That's the way I read that statement anyway)
Hmm?
Bogbeast
Swampine
Horrible horror from the bog
Yes. not wery good at naming myself.
Now that I check this again... Weren't Sions the children of the Channelers, descendants or something? --> https://forums.elementalgame.com/374237/get;2515718
Here is my suggestion:
Dracos
Swamp Vulture
How about Bog Boars? It sort of rolls off the tounge. Also sort of looks like a razorback to me.
Okay... i'm VERY unimpressed. Actually, i'm very unimpressed with the whole Elemental world so far. Nothing that would put it above average fantasy. IMO.
*shrug* as long as the game mechanics work and allow modding (adding skills, abilities, techs, features too, not just modifying existing stuff...). Maybe i shouldn't have pre-ordered the game but oh well.
Raven X's Swamp Geth seems cool and balanced phonetically for some reason.
Scoutdog's Thurg is pretty good too.
Like Thurgh better? How 'bout Thurgg or Thurrg?
