I don't like the way that this game is going with half-race children based on the dev journals. Having your children turn into monster babies would make players make bad gameplay decisions based on wanting a good character to look at. No one will want to make a marriage with the goblin types and everyone will always marry the Slaaneshland guys.
Just have a child from this marriage be one race or another please.
Just wait for the slash fiction about the human Sovereign Boyer and the fallen Sovereign Magnar. It's a bomb ready to explode, I tell you.

And with that, back to the topic!
Any chance of creating breeding programs to make meaner monsters?
Sure its already been asked but, harem situations possible?
Possible to marry things that are not memeber of faction, aka spirits or demons or outsiders or whatever?
In next beta we are going to get the first steps in dinasties so we will see how it starts and be able to ask more precise questions and/or offer more precise suggestions. Just remember that if it doesn't fit Elemental's background, we enter the lands of mods.
The esrb can go die in a hole. No one actually checks the ratings except for some retailers(just to auto-reject anything too high), and since elemental is coming out on impulse, why even bother with those stuck up turd flingers? I am sure there is some good reason to still deal with the esrb and that mods will add sufficent boobage to statisfy me, but still...
+ = ESRB
Anyway, the point of wanting the harem was to have lots and lots of kids since, if given a choice, i intend for my heir to be picked through brutal family combat and other such things i mentioned in that other thread(that one right over there).
Was a gaint text-wall here on other-wives, stuck it in its own thread over there(Ya, that one, right there).
Seriously, though, the devs do have to play semi-nice with them: it's just marketing that lower ratings equate to more buyers. And besides, have mercy on those of us who still live with our parents. Please? (I swear, Mom checks my CDs while I'm asleep..... )
I still live with my parents and am doing the college thing, but they don't go anywhere near my computer. They used to check stuff long ago, but i left a few less than pleasent pictures laying around in obvious places. They decided it wasn't worth it.
And ya, i know, the ESRB must be submited too. Buisness side of thing, money, all that jazz. When i start building my gaint empire of evil in this game its gonna be named the ESRB and the flag is gonna be one of thier Adult only symbols. It will be sweet.
I would personally love to have ugly descendants. Marrying a child off to a brutish race, and another off to an economic race would help destinguish, very quickly whether the person in question is a general or governor. New child is born: "Woah... you look like the back end of an orc, you must be in my millitary bloodline"
That isn't to say that would be necessary, being turn-based you have all the time you need to check things out. Just makes life that bit more amusing-- er easy lol.
ESRB is a good thing. Not every game is suitable for children and I think parents should have a clue whether the game, film or a book is good for their offsprings. Actually I found some games not to be suitable for adults of any age too (such as Carmagedon). What I find interesting is someone consideres nudity and mating harmful while killing someone is quite normal.
Breeding in Elemental is an interesting concept and I want it to be realized. I realy liked Bene Gesserit, so I am looking forward to have my own Kwisatz Haderach.
?
I didn't have any problems with that when I was a kid so I must suppose that mature adults just looking for some silly fun shouldn't have any either. I thought that rating were for about which ages people are supposed to be mature enough to understand the content they are seeing.
Anyway, it's a fact that many parents don't care about the game rating (Yeah, GTA IV is good for your teenager son, really... just remember to complain if you later discover that the game, that your son is playing when he shouldn't, has some issuses with hot coffee). Not enough reason to not have it. Just need to actually make it useful (gallons of blood vs a nipple).
True, some games are not suitable for some children. However, i think that the ESRB's blanket policy lets the parents simply ignore the game itself and go by some arbritary grading scheme. If you want to control what your kids see, you should research the game, not use some beuracrats descion that may or may not actually mean anything.
That and i have never understood the thing agasinst sex in games. Does your computer not have an internet browser? Are you aware that typing almost anything into google gets you some porn results, regardless of how innocent it may seem? If a kid wants porn, there is an ocean out there. Its like getting mad that a model is topless, while she is getting gangbanged by a dozen guys.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Was there any shadow of doubt we weren't?
GTA: San Andreas is the perfect illustration of this phenomenon. What, this super-violent game where you go around killing cops and running over people has sex in it? We can't let Timmy be corrupted by that game!
I always think about Duke Nukem 64 (The Nintendo 64 version of Duke Nukem) where they exchanged the lickerstore on the 2nd lvl for a armsstore and the playboy cinema for DukeBurger....
Conclusion: Booze & Sex = OOOH NO you don't! Weapons and fastfood? Sure!
TBH, i suspect that most parents did not have a clue what was actually in GTA, they just saw something about it having sex on the news and freaked.
Bara? not heard of that one before, and almost afraid to try to find out what it is.. what about adding a Yuri mod?
Ofcourse, id probably get it mixed up and getting the Yaoi mod when going for the Yuri one.. getting them mixed is a rather bad thing, and have resulted in a few EHH! moments..
"Bara" is basically strong, muscley gay stuff. Nothing really out of the ordinary. Of course, having done sociological university research into paraphilia, I'm pretty much inured to everything... except... the weird stuff.
In all honesty, I tend to view those sorts of mods as comedy more than anything else.
Now, that makes me both curious and scared witless at the same time..
but ehh ill try to get back on track whit the original topic..
There sure will be much fun in testing this feature out, making all kinds of strange relatives. to bad we have not been treated to see pictures from what the devs have made yet..
I foresee bug reports like "Child not ugly enough when mating with goblinoid flavored Fallen". And threads about pics of those "monsters" (and you read it here, by yours truly!). The avatar thread is going to be a joke compared with those. And just wait for the avatars based on them!
Yes! Back on topic!
I have been begging begging to see a screen of the half-breeds. So far: nothing
I don't know... I sure could go for one of those Avatar girls : D
Na'Avi. "Avatar" only applies to the human-grown meat puppets. Common nitpick.
And consider that real aliens would likely not be what we hairless apes consider at all humanoid or attractive. Expect something more like Wookies, Prawns, or Zebesian Space Pirates. I imagine some people would go in for that sort of thang....... but overall in a realistic scientific setting humans would stick with humans.
That said, I see no treason why a fantasy world where disparite species can look very similar indeed and flout Darwin/Dawkins/Dieties (depending on your politics) with impunity, you would actually get a fair degree of xenophillia (provided that there was no strong cultural taboo against it, and even that would probably just scoot things under the rug a ways).
Uh what...? Oh...
To be honest, if humanity did meet an alien race which was humanoid and exotic in appearance... we'd probably at least make an attempt.
Hey exotic alien race with boobies... care for a drink?
