Just a note on the upcoming Magic & Spells beta of Elemental so that people are prepared: The beta will be about bug testing the spells not about game balance. As a result, feel free to indulge yourself on doing very very bad things in the world.
Here are some of the spells we’ll be testing:
a. Mass Heal
b. Raise Land
c. Lower Land
d. Raise Forest
e. Raise Desert
f. Raise Swamp
g. Charm Monster
h. Teleport to friendly territory
i. Revive Land
j. Imbue Hero
We plan to give most of these spells to players very very early on so that we can make sure that they’re working as designed. Obviously, being able to raise mountains and exile an enemy city onto its own island are not things that are going to be just doable willy nilly in the final game.
So for a couple of builds, players will be able to just go nuts with magic without consequences.
The beta us due out a week from today but it is possible we may delay it an additional week for more polish and get more assets in (we’re juggling a lot of balls right now).
Something I just noticed. The last spell on that list is "Imbue Hero" Does that mean we'll be getting heros in this beta as well?
Possibly dynasty members?
Nice assortment of spells, especially like the terraforming ones.
Will it have bugfixes and such as well? At the present I cannot play elemental for more than a minute or so before my machine freezes - that is, I cannot play it.
There've been bug fixes in the builds so far. I couldn't play 0.24 at all and had the wonky unit designer graphics in 0.255, but I could play 0.255 more or less and in 0.264 the unit designer graphics seem OK.
Well at first there seemed to be updates every so often but now everything seems to be silent... I was just wondering what else we would get besides added content. It is no good if the game crashes.
I'm sure the devs agree. It's just a matter of how unusual your situation is. You did post your debug.err and dump zip for your CTD problem, didn't you?
uhuh, and others with me.
Same. Eagerly anticipating a build that I can play for more than 2 minutes without a BSOD or crash to desktop. 43 games. 62 minutes of play time. It's not possible to give any true feedback when you've only seen the first 20 turns of a game. I have faith though. They'll get the glitches steadily ironed out as they go, and it will be possible to see if it's necessary to build any units beyond the starting avatar. So far, not so much.
Same here on the stability front. Really hoping for a Beta I can play.
I hope the dev's wont be too disappointed when I can finally play again by the possible flood of feedback on the new research and economy system which I haven't been able to test yet, let alone spells or other new content
Cheers,
Kuloth
