Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.
At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.
We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.
SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)
It's my thread so a few of my stuff...
Very nice, the missile looks great too.
I reckon this hulk of lard needed an update. Unfortunately I'm at the poly limit still and it needs like 42x the guns.
/e
I updated the Sonsora, too, because those stupid engine nozzles always bugged me. I don't think any recent renders showed the new turrets. Oh, I added more turrets, too. I gotta keep fly just in case the big man sends me a bucket.
Stop making me cry. [e digicons]:')[/e]
Don't know if those are the turrets you added, but the big ones on the Sonsora are amazing.
Nah, the new guns are namely the side rotary cannons near the engine blocks and torpedo launchers. I'm keeping these ships within the specifications of sins limits still.. accounting for the new 5 weapon type limit. Which means more point defense and more main guns. You know. Just in case.
Anyways, my goal for the time being is to catch up to where I was a few months go. There's few better ways to do that then clean up the old messes I left behind. I need the practice.
Ah, this is the one peter I wanted to tony since I let that silly project go in its shameful state. It needs detail badly. Of all the shame in Black Sun the Emperor was the worst. Notwithstanding the fact I forgot to finish its torpedo before recording. Interns. Better late than never.
And I was already a chunk into my revision of the Great Knight some months before I lost heart. I have picked up this work and hope to complete it soon.
The outside panels are decent, the interior could use more gears/metal plating/piping. They just look a little too plain.
Been a while, but I finally resumed work on Invasion. Here's the latest model, the Warmaster capital ship. This is meant to be a utility capital, focusing on bolstering the performance of the entire fleet, rather than just outright combat.
I also finally got myself the Beta Rebellion - can't wait to see how those puppies look with the new self-shadowing.
Nice.
My update work continues at a slow pace.
More changes to the BSBC
The Knight's revisions are about 50% done.
And finally, something new to test my resolve.
I like the last one best Ishkie though I think the Sonsora and Black Sun are my favorites so far.
ManShooter--please keep working on your mod. Those ships are to drool over.
I don't think I really need to tell Iskatu anything more concerning how much I like his work. It's pretty well understood.
As for the new model. Is this a smaller class? Something more for support or fire support?
It's a fourth-generation destroyer, a mix of a carrier and a support ship. It's designed to replace the aging Exarch and Bishop classes during future battles vs the Undead.
please please please i want the Knight!@!@#!@#!@ reminds me so much of Pegasus Class ships!@#!@$@!#!@#!@# .........................................................................................pleasE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Some slight updates to the Champion.
Most notably is that the torpedo bays are active in this version, as they'd be active in Rebellion.
Back in Homeworld 2 like 4-5 years ago now, when Black Sun was first being built as a mod, I used a slightly kitbashed Hiigaran BC someone (I think Axel) had made publicly available. It was used for an Anahn corvette called the Raptor.
I have ripped that model out of HW2, refurbished it, and given it new weapons.
I've kept it rather simple since it would be a small ship, but it would make use of four weapon types - Rapid-Action Burst Railcannons, Battlecannons, Quad Powerguns, and nuke torpedoes. The smoothing needs a bit of work though. The model, when it came out of the HW2 format, was a colossal mess. Might add some more turrets.
Nice. If you want inspiration from HW2, the Complex mod has some nice expansions to the BC and other ships.
That looks like a sort of mini-battleship, something that's a bit "more" than a heavy cruiser. I like it.
HW2 made some effort to revise their ship roles to closer fit that of a real navy, but they did still have some issues. The battlecruiser is large enough to be a battleship, but since the next smallest cap is a destroyer, it's as good a designation as any. Complex puts the BC between new cruisers they added and battleships they designed as extra heavy versions of the BC with a hair less anti-SC capabilities.
The Raptor, as a corvette, outscales all Homeworld 2 battleships by a significant degree, but I can't bring the full weapon compliment into sins so I aim to make it as simple as I can get away with.
/e Here is another ship in very early stages, the Vanarch. It was one of the new classes of flagships the Royal Family produced when spearheading the second galaxy.
That looks really, really sleek. While I'm aware that it's weaponry is incomplete, it looks like a fast well shielded ship designed to maneuver itself into range of an enemy's weak spots or into their blind spots to rip them apart.
Or with the limited weapons, it looks like it can also serve to get in and out to perform a quick, single-minded task. But since the model is a work in progress, I guess I'll just wait and see.
And that's the thing about ship scale, it's all relative. Aside from frigates being bigger now than they were 200 years ago, different stories go different directions. Star Trek builds vessels that aren't epic in scale, but carry a lot of firepower. Star Wars has huge ships that, when you calculate damage to mass ration, serve up an okay beating. Homeworld is fairly small, modern terms. It all just depends on what you're going for. I know that your story has ships being moving islands, for all practical purposes, Iskatu.
One of my personal Models lol critic me
from what I can see, basic geometry, but sound. If you're going for low poly, it's good, but you probably want to homogenize the density of polys. As it is, the front and possibly rear eat up the bulk. If you're looking to work ever upwards, you need to start thinking of the details and what will fit in your poly count. Cockpit details, notable plating, and subsystems or mechanized components (even if not animated) are good things to start with. Rather than gluing stuff to the surface, perhaps you should consider cutting into sections for some detail. Iskatu has good examples of deeply cut plating. I can see potential with things like rudder detail.
so good start. keep it up.
Some minor progress on the Vanarch. Still not sure where PD weapons are going to be located.
