Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.
At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.
We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.
SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

Those space clamp ships always looked so damn funny to me... never could take them seriously. So far from the genius behind the Star Destroyers...

That's okay, I always thought the star destroyer was a wedge of cheese with a pair of nads stuck on top. I notice that most Star Wars ships go for geometrically simple designs.
Yeah and greebled to high heaven. But there is no contest between the Star Destroyers and Leviathans... it's Space Daggers vs. Space Clothes-Line Clamps.
The Leviathan is a nice ship but not half as nice as a Star Destroyer. I modeled it anyway.

Although extremely unlikely to so much as reinstall sins, here's some old models that I have started working on again in the wake of difficult events.
^ The Kerr`As`Ussan, Royal flagship. Serviced during the civil war, commanded by the Anahn High Admiral, Haktish, son of Adashim. This is an ancient Gahennas model, the last one that remained to be fixed. As of now I doubt I can fix the sides or detail it very much, so it's not going anywhere.
^ This one should be obvious. The Great Knight, which was last updated when I first encountered the poly limit for ConvertXSI and had to butcher it. Since then I removed about 15% of the polies/vertexes and am slowly rebuilding parts of the ship. Most notable changes from the Ep1 model are the engines, barrels, sides, and center. Because I seem to lack the Ep1 model I had to base my updates on an older version. You can probably guess which parts will be insanely difficult to fix.
OH man, I do like the look of that Great Knight Very nice.
I bet I could 1/2 that models poly count... using textures instead of the physical model would help alot on certain parts.
But I just love that shape! Well done, would love to see it done up proper for Sins
I had a little free time today and kit-bashed a Freelancer "Kusari" (Japanese) ship for my CargoCult player entity. It's a purely npc race of space faring Japanese descendants who fly "shufune"--ships as sacred shrines from which they try to recruit new followers and explore and trade peacefully. In an in-game encounter with them, they sometimes drop cargo which can be destroyed for varying amounts of ship experience and in some situations will regenerate the shields, hull or antimatter of nearby ships. If you destroy one of their vessels, you gain quite a bit of experience for capital ship leveling due to their advanced technology. They are unarmed heavily armored, fast moving, fast maneuvering and fast jumping. A mobile random encounter basically.
