Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.
At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.
We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!
Interested in importing your models into Sins?
Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.
SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)
It's my thread so a few of my stuff...
Great Models all of them.
7DS has started a small contest to design the LAPIS race to come in 3.0. Check forum announcements for details. The contest ends Dec 2011 giving enough time to have a working race of ships, maybe structures too in game. Sorry, but we can't throw money at winners, but we can heavily credit them if their work is selected.
I put up a crappy sketch of some ships that are Taalo-like, Dan posted some of the LAPIS from Genesis Rising, but we are asking for you to read up on the short description and let your creativity go wild. The only thing is that if your work is selected, you agree it can be used for 7DS as the Lapis, but remains your work which you can use as part of any other mod for SOASE. We always ask before using and never simply take.
So, If interested, check the contest out. If not, just ignore me. Please don't tell us you alone will do all the work and expect us to close the contest down. Life happens, everyone working on 7DS knows that first hand and then some, and we'd hate for interested people to feel left out.
Interesting contest. I may have time to do it... but I don't see any reference materials to look at first (Photos, models, ect). I suppose I can find them within the mod?
Most impressive, let's see some vid of the ships in action, Please...
Interesting model from SolCommand I'm texturing. Using the shield mesh to create a bubble around the city.
interesting Zombie!
Here's a closeup.
interesting might be a stupid question but what is it for exactly??
here is my model
it is a remake of the aldar fighter i posted a long time ago old on the left new on the right
A PlanetModule, possibly a large population starbase.
That's a really good and ingenious usage of a shield mesh.
awesome cant wait to see it in game
finished anyways i mean
Looks like a really nice tradeport
Some wireframe shots of the new Xin Warmaster. Eight heavy caliber guided plasma ejectors, four gravity well generators, dual dedicated battle coordination neural structures, eight heavy-duty transmission tendrils, nine wide-spectrum sensory blisters aaaaand eight point-defense electron discharge projector surfaces.
Let's see if I can texture this one from scratch today.
I am afraid I have no new models to show despite months of silence. No progress has been made on Black Sun. What times I haven't been mortally depressed I have had to invest into fixing my video media for my youtube channel and LP viewers.
I have, however, released another voice demo which I will post here if you are interested.
This one needs a bit of description to understand what it's about specifically,
It was requested for some less effect-heavy voices. So, today, I have decided to share with you some of my unused dialogue for various things and then some of the more normal stuff. This is a longer demo than usual despite culling a huge amount of dialogue from the first three samples.
1 - Unused Anahn dialogue for a scrapped 3d rendering video. After I discovered it takes 3ds max 3 days to render 2k frames with decent light settings I immediately scrapped this project. 2 - Unused dialogue for Black Sun. "I am the wind and rain, I am the blood of flame," is part of a "riddle" in regards to the Prince of Blood. He hears echoes of himself through the outlands, a psionic realm, from the future, but can't decipher the meaning of the words. He's kind of crazy. However, I actually really can't do the Prince's voice. So it was just for yucks. I need the practice. 3 - Unused shuttle dialogue for when I was conceptualizing my UDK project for Armageddon Onslaught 2. This shuttle AI would play during events of a mission where the player infiltrates a crashed shuttle that re-activates. Soon after you are discovered the AI is possessed by a demon that is hunting you. 4 - Voice of the Fear, one of the most powerful villains in my novel Throne of Armageddon. The Fear is a massive "ship" that feeds upon the emotions and life energy of the universe. This was intro dialogue for the planned Black Sun episode 1. I accidentally lost the original music I had for this intro and had to substitute on the fly. The Fear has many voices, as it can assume the form of anyone who has died.
As it is extremely unlikely Black Sun episode 1 will ever be created, especially in the foreseeable future, I released the sound data (#4) I had thus far compiled for it, which is relevant to those who were at all interested in my work here.
love the orbital colony Zombie, the floor looks kinda lonely though, maybe some "light lines" along the floor for streets or the such. Still love it though, and would love to have it implemented lol. maybe a second type of starbase the TEC could build? Get something like that for the other two races as well? =3 except Vasari...
The floor is a bit lonely... Might look at doing something there. maybe even some tunnels and domes between the buildings. Will maybe play some down the road.
No one cares about voice acting I suppose.
that's a beautiful model there, always good to see models done by you.
As far as I'm concerned the Zelconian Assassin-class is as finished as it's ever going to get. I can't fix the smoothing, I just don't know how to.
I fully expect this thing to get mangled in sins. More than usual. I did manage to keep it <22k quads, so maybe I'll detail it a bit more before I try to put it in the game. Not sure how or where...
That thing is so complex that it doesn't even look like the same ship from different angles. Took me a while to figure out what the first shot was. Wow, that beast is like nothing I've ever seen before. Beautiful. I would lose a game looking at it.
@IsKatuMesk : The first model...I want it lol....gimmie
The second i feel as though it may transform, parts move, open up a large super weapon at any moment
@ZombieRus5 : just to be funny, you should slap a McDonalds logo in there on one of the buildings like a billboard or something, everyone will laugh and think" yeah, they'll probably never disappear, no matter how hard we wish it"
@whoever cares: I wish I could model......first I wish AMD would fix their software, THEN I wish I could model.....by model I mean make those badass things above, I aint pretty enough for the other one [e digicons]:'([/e]
The Xin Colony ship, Chimera Class at ~6800 polygons.
I redesigned it from this:
Because I feel I have enough vertical designs in the fleet already, and the old model was not organic looking enough. In the new design I also went for a non-aggressive look, and although the ship can fight, I wanted it to look more fragile (hence the "delicate" wings) and docile (snail-like "hammerhead" and large tendrils)
@ManSh00ter nice models you are saving me alot of work by the way!!
Am I? How so?
With a few minor touchups I think the Norkozad is in the same boat as the Assassin Ship - this is as complete as I'm gonna get it with my current skill level. It's ready to go into Sins minus hardpoints. Here's some renders with some generic smoothing thrown on. Smoothing that, of course, doesn't get translated into sins. *sigh*
Despite being millions of years old, the Norkozad-type Templar battlecruiser has some serious firepower. The emeralds act as foci for the pilot's Lo`Aummath shard and basically fire emerald lightning that, in the hands of a skilled pilot, can rip apart stars much less ships. It has an artificial psionic driver that shoots psionic singularities as well, called the Vortex Cannon. Templar simplicity at its finest. Not a big player in the grand scheme of things, but it's an entry-level flagship and an iconic design.

Textured, this thing would be black as night, save shimmering from the reactive armor.
