Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.
At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.
We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!
Interested in importing your models into Sins?
Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.
SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)
It's my thread so a few of my stuff...
If I was betting man, I'd put money on it. We'll just have to be patient. And as allways nice work.
Any how's I stumbled across this little free ware sculpturing tool, that might be of intrest to some http://www.meshmixer.com/.
Stages of Earth...
again you have sent me into a spiraling depression over our doomed existence...*shivers*
Something a bit different than modeling for you today.
This is a sound engineering demo mostly, showcasing some of the experiments I have done in the past months, as well as some of the unused lines in the Black Sun: Salvation Episode 0.
funny part, the pic with earth having no polar ice caps, not the one with very little land but the one with less land but still a lot of land is pretty much accurate, this is what would happen if the ice caps melted, granted though... there have been times in earth's history when there wasn't ice caps at all
i do think that would be neat to see parts of the country that we recognize only they are underwater and are filled with undersea life.
yes, there have been times when there were no ice caps, though i do not agree that the earth is 4 billion years old. i am creationist.
anyways, Zombies what did you use to make those textures?
Like evolution could ever be disputed...
I postulate that you lot only exist because I believe in your existence. I cannot be proven wrong therefore my theory is valid.
How comes this sounds like a stupid logic
yes, it quite can be as a matter of fact.
-explain how the blood clotting mechanism could have evolved through natural selection.
-explain how ALL birds know from birth that they need to turn their eggs.
-explain how the bacterial flagellum could have gradually evolved through many series of USEFULL intermediates.
etc, etc.
but this thread really isn't the place for this.
That's why they call it FAITH .
When I see a fish sprout legs and dance around in front of me, I'll believe in macro evolution. It's easier for me to believe in divine creation than algae evolved and eventually grew organs, etc.
Micro evolution, on the other hand cannot be disputed.
Not news: idiots find "divine creation" easier to believe in because science is hard.
I believe that both creation and evolution have their merits, so to chose one over the other doesn't work for me.
Buahahaha!!! That was wonderful!!
While I'm no biology student (or master), my girlfriend is studying epigenetics, and I've had some interest in this mechanics as well. It's still not fully researched, as it is a young scientific field, but it shows promise of explaining evolution through adaption.
On the other hand you middle-ages "the world is flat because the church says so" people would still find an argument to tell us that god created the evolution and therefore it's still intelligent design.
BTW if god were intelligent (and existent) he was either drunk when he made man or a freak with insurmountable humor.
As Swiss Knight already said, sience is harder because it requires a BRAIN! Faith can be used without. Thats why so many people have faith and so little have wits.
PS.: I do not think believing in something greater is in any way false (as we all believe in something) but to equate science and religion is something even the catholic church dare not do any more. Science is for the mind, believe is for the heart. The evolution of man is a thing of the mind, because we can research it, can begin to understand its workings, can use it in genetics (and have done so since the beginning of man - hounds, flowers, fruits and many more were all genetically altered by living with man or by man himself throughout its history) and can observe it happen in nature. How can it not be true.
Compare that to creationism - what proof, real proof can anyone give you for creationism or intelligent design?
ok, so we are attempting to lock this thread now?
You may lock it after I post my 1st ship that look 2 hours to do. Im making a load of ships in Maya but anyone know a link with a tutorial to import into Sins?
For sure Zombie, anyone can hijack a thread, it takes REAL skill to LOCK one.
@Swiss-Science is not hard to believe at all:
"The record of reckless speculation of human origins is so astonishing that it is legitimate to ask whether much science is yet to be found in the fieldatall."
-Sally Zuckerman, evolutionist.
"It is absolutely unreasonable to reject the notion of a Creator by appealing to science. Science has definitely shown the non-contradiction of Creation out of nothing."
-Dr. Henry Margenau, Professor of Physics and Natural Philosophy, Yale University
"It seems to me that when confronted with the marvels of life and the Universe, one must ask why and not just how. The only possible answers are religious. I find a need for God in the Universe and in my own life."
-Phillip Schaff, eminent historian, Professor at Yale university.
"We've got to have some ancestors. We'll pick those. Why? Because we know they have to be there, and these are the best candidates. That's by and large the way it has worked. I am not exaggerating."
-Dr. Gareth Nelson, American Museum of Natural History.
"Evolution is a theory universally accepted not because it has been observed to occur or can be proved by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative-special creation is clearly incredible."
-Professor D.M.S Watson, famous evolutionist.
@Tobi: please restrain from insults and thus ignorance.
in what way can we observe macro evolution in nature? please give sources and proof.
the only proof i can give for God that would be considered "real" is that no natural event (big bang) could create the universe because that would require pre-existing laws of physics in order to be possible. God would not require laws of physics because he would dwell in a dimension or realm independent of time or physics.
What common sense proof would you accept?
My guess is bias would cloud your judgement, the same as "faith" clouds believers judgement.
Ergo - this discussion is pointless and should not be placed here.
I want to see some sexy ship models!
like this, that I'm working on for the DS team....
It's the new Vassari Flagship. Sexy no?
EDIT: Nice model Rip! Here is a link to how to import into Sins.... http://soase.weebly.com/import-soase-models.html
I like Rip's ship. Sleek and killer. Like the obvious deck segregation. I can especially imagine a variant of that used as a cruise liner.
Yeah, Siv Corp, I think your Vasari is most definitely going to be the flagship and most certainly has my vote. I do like your Advent, but can see the validity of other arguments. As for the Kols, I liked all the variations, but the 3.0 does have the downside of looking tougher than the flagship actually is.
yeah, the 3.0 is compensating for something I think
I'll have to set one up that isn't so.... crazy.
Rip's ship is indeed beautiful.
I especially like the skinning along the mid-section
Everything you need to know about importing models can be found here (http://soase.weebly.com/).
Though if you're interested I have two races that need models and that would look great in my mod. If your working on your own mod and have ideas for your own races that's cool too. The model looks spectacular and assuming the rest of your work is like that they deserve a home.
Yes, it does look sexy.
Author of Distant Stars Flagship mini-mod.
Wow, ship looks great!
http://www.uni-protokolle.de/Lexikon/Evolutionstheorie.html
It is in german, but very interesting if you can read it. It just a very small example of what science has observed.
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/creationism/
As for preexisting laws of physics and creating something out of nothing, what about the law of conservation of energy? How can you create anything from nothing? Physically impossible and there is no way to disprove it.
Sorry to hijack this thread, will keep mum about it from now
Sorry for calling names, but I feel we are heading back to the middle ages where people of science were hunted and killed by religious fanatics
