Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.
At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.
We are looking forward to seeing what you have created!

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.
SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)
It's my thread so a few of my stuff...
i like the "ones that won't make it into this era" but that could just be me....
nice
Just a little step back to an early model I did. I plan to put it in as a Pirate capital ship with the blue arcadia.
Nice one ZombiesRus5!
Thanks, it was nice to see her floating in space. I found a few odd things I did back then too that I'm trying to correct
Well, after the blue and green arcadia... you can maybe make the newer version too ...
From 2007, spanish short fan film, http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=ES&hl=es&v=PyUvwcXywtQ , time index 00:53
Planned for 2012, japan film, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LX_cXL6njY ( skull are great on this one, ramming and boarding scene are gorgeous )
In the same style, i plan to make in 2011, the space battleship Yamato ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BhvLvQ08RM )... will be a Arcadia killer

let me know which one you like better top or bottom thx much !
akkan117
necroposting fay-got
why?
@akkan117 I like the overhead view but post whatever views you want or as many of them
@fredled there is no need for name calling like that. This thread is nearly a year old now with lots of great models to look through and I have previously stated it should stay necro police free (I thought this would be obvious but maybe I should update the OP). Really I can't think of any information is this thread that could be considered dated enough to warrant necro police showing up...
I agree Zombies. This post can live on.
@FredLed: Even if a post was necroed, please refrain from childish name calling.
@akkan: nice, and yes post them both. Do a top, side and front if you like.
very uncool FredLed
this thread often stays quiet while these guys work on their models, then get spurts of activity
2end ever 3d model, a teltek scout from the SG Gou'ld Race. Screenshot taken in Sins (hence the red thing).
i was joking, you would think that you could tell because i spelled it wrong.
@explora,nice model, ironic because it looks like the vasari scout, which explores, and your name is explora.
Artemis 2.0
this is my tech heavy battleship it had around 82262 k tris had to cut it in half before it would let me export so here it is
it is also very long so i had to divide it into three parts
looks like UNSC light frig
i take that as a very large compliment thank you! i thought it looked like a brick in space i cant view it in game my sins is acting weird on my cpu
Hello!
I haven't been here for quite some time. I've had a rough run in my life during the past year. I am thinking of maybe one day trying to mod this game again, but the 50k tri limit and hardcoded AI are the biggest things standing in my way.
For now, have some shiny.
Most of these are too high detail for sins, but I wouldn't be putting these particular models in the game. They are not from TOA...
HOLY F****NG S**t those are good!!!!! i really like the very top one
Welcome back IskatuMesk. I always enjoy looking at your models even if they won't make it in a game anytime soon.
to bad the limit is 50k they would be epic to use
Well, a lot of thing is possible with 50k tri...
My unfinished ( texture stage ) biggest project for sins is a 30k triangle space station... will almost max out the number of weapons hardpoints ( several hundred of them )...
Model will have some rotating section in game : http://www.love-from-russia.be/Untitled.avi
My last finished model was for the Halo mod, only 16k triangles... and a lot of details on texture due to normal map... used melody from Nvidia along with a low and high poly version of the model... gimp Xacht filter allow to create fake 3D with fake AO/shadow effect on the texture map...

My smallest model is a cargo/trade ship using only 96 triangle... not sure about it but i think that it is the more low poly model ever created for sins !!! And it look enough good too... credit for the modeling is 100% Koobalt since these cargo/trade ship was made only from piece who come from one of his deck gun...
If time is taken, wonderful models can be made with only 50k tri... ask the team from the "the sins optimization project" mod... they have work hard, not for create some new model but for reduce the poly count from the original sins model and this without changing the shape of models !!!
My ships are high poly because I am unwilling to sacrifice details. I can get past it by spawning parts of the model (say, turrets) as a particle mesh, though.
Nearly sins-ready.
The belly is a bit bare and the tier 2 upper section and engines need work but I'm almost at 50k polies already. I'll have to split this into two pieces (one a particular mesh) for sins if I wanted to put it in. The prospect of that isn't nearly as terrifying as the amount of helper copy-pasting I'd need to do for the guns.
There's still some optimization to be had, but not much without losing a lot of quality.
