A good point brought up by Philly0381, Would it be legal for Stradock to use the same method that Mac OSX uses to generate its dock. Example using transparent area's on the .bg to generate reflections of icons, and using 4 scurves or bg.png's to make the dock. I think this is a good topic to focus on and discus because ObjectDock is a commercial program.

ObjectDock is by far the best dock program out there for Windows why? it has the best scroll over effects out of all of them (how well the image resizing during scroll over) and a nice interface.
However there are some things I would like the programs design team to think about and I bet a lot of people would like this idea too.
ObjectDock 2.0 should use the same dock generating system as a Mac OSX dock, using the same resources that are used by Mac to generate a dock based on size. Mac uses scurves that are picked based on the size of the dock the user has made (so a small fixed sized image is not being expaned belond its resolution) and uses transparency to tell where reflections should be placed. I think that ObjectDock 2.0 should use a similar system so that all the cool themes released for Mac docks on deviant art can be used without having to port them and re releasing them. Plus would have the added benefit of reflections being generated without having to Photoshop each icon, you could also include options for reflections like blur, water ripple, if this was done there would be absolutely no comparison of which company makes the better dock.
Another issue I would like to have fixed is indicators need to be layer behind icons, this allows better themes and different styles to happen, like a dock pictured here in one of Hotiron’s SS http://hotiron.deviantart.com/art/desolate-149923828
I hope that these changes can come into play I am sure a lot of people that use ObjectDock would love the ability to use all the themes released for Mac OSX docks found on deviant art, or here on iconpaper.org http://www.iconpaper.org/category/mac/docks/ So developers please take a look at this I know that this would be a big change to the program but a lot of people would love this including myself.
Because the fact is there are more better looking themes for Mac docks because creative people tend to use Mac because of the creative and highly customizable environment. I would like to see ObjectDock 2.0 take advantage of the free to use creative themes that are available through deviant art and other sites and stardock crate future ObjectDock themes in this manner. I can say there are more creative themes for Mac OSX dock cause take a look at themes http://gor0n.deviantart.com/art/Bloody-Docks-139946719 and here is an example of using the transparent areas for reflections http://kano89.deviantart.com/art/Real-Leopard-X-Dock-92442798 keep in mind if what I said here was done that these themes would be ready to use as is with adding a default .config file.
A quick review of what I would like to see in ObjectDock 2.0
1. Support for reflections generated by using Alpha transparence as a marker to where they should appear. 2. Add an option for even higher system recourses usage for smother transitions during scroll over. 3. Add options for various reflections like water, blurred, shadow. 4. Docks generated using a similar method to Mac OSX so that themes released on Deviantart can be used without conversion and loss of original form. 5. The ability to have a preset icon height so that the icons do not ride so low on the dock and each individual icon canvas size does not need to be lengthen vertically to make it ride higher on the dock.
Plus this would be a upgrade well worth buying. Because I have seen people say what more could Stardock add to ObjectDock more options but would that be worth the cost of an upgrade.
Here is an example of a port of mine called Fin dock it’s a personal port and NFR. And yes some of the icons are completely meaningless to the related programs but I like the work that was put into them.
An important thing to realize is that Object Dock and the other customizing software that Stardock produces is meant to run on PCs and as such don't look or function like applications on other OS.
There is a reason for this.
I'm just a user of the software Stardock produces and I find that they are fine as they are. Just my opinion as a PC user.
I use both OS and if you are a fanboy of one then don’t bother commenting its pure stupidly, you are an average user and therefore do not care what it looks like or how themes are handled if you are happy with the basic feature of a PNG layered over another PNG image that linked to a program or folder then great. But most people like to have a more sophisticated look to their dock.

I am not suggesting this to the community this is towards Stardock the creators not the end user. Why would anyone be suggesting something to a user who is in no postion to change it.
Unfortunately or fortunately these are the WinCuscomize Community Forums, so it stands to reason that members of the community will respond, even though you posted your thread under the category of Stardock Support/ObjecDock. The forums are not meant for official contact with support.
Another interesting point is the skinners who make the skins that are in the WinCustomize Gallery Libraries are just members of the community, so they probably can influence a developer to look at changes for any particular program.
I did mention that there was a reason why ObjectDock is the way it is without an explaination. The explaination is a simple one, if the developers were to make/change ObjectDock to have the look and feel of what is representd on the Mac OSX system I think that Apple would be raising questions of copyright violations.
Of course all of this is just my opinion.
Finally a good comment now thats a good point I would want to talk about, now obviously a dock is not copyrighted or else object dock or rocket dock would not exist especially ObjectDock because it’s a commercial program. But is the process on using scurves copyrighted is using reflective surfaces on a PNG to point to where reflections should be generated copyrighted? I don’t know but I don’t see why ObjectDock can’t call the individual scuves Bg0.png Bg1.png Bg2.png and so on in the text config file. I think that this could be done dock programs are already out there I am trying to suggest a smarter way on handling themes in ObjectDock it makes a lot more sense and a hell of a lot less custom work on my end so that the average user can enjoy complex themes with reflections like my port in the description without all the work i had to do to get it to look like that.
And I know that these are community forums but that is the area where developer go to look for complaints or problems it’s just a matter of having a handful of retarded off topic comments by the community before I can get anywhere. I mean seriously lol look at some of these people i would have such a fun time being a moderator here or at least give some control to the submitter so that if other retarded people see this post and the comments they are not tempted to post another off topic comment and continue the retard cycle.
I totally agree with you HELLSMAN. I've ported myself some Mac docks but still the result was not the same. I also wish Objectdock would have the glass effect .

Well said Doc. HELLSMAN, you said what you would like to see the new dock be able to do and that is fine. However your comment to #3 and calling people on here retarded are totally out of line because they have something to say other than what you think is the perfect solution. You also said

You will fine more creative people here than you will ever find on the Mac side and all or most of the skinned here apps are free. Saying that I'm not putting Mac down as it does have some good things about it. If you wish to continue to down grade the Stardock members than you can expect to not have a very good welcome as many of us aren't great skinners but are not retarder either.

DaveBax good comment keep in mind that this is a paid program and Mac dock is free because its part of the OS that not to say Mac's comps are priced fair a good example of a Mac pro is 800 $ of components put into a 1600 dollars aluminum shell, but every theme here and on macthemes is free to use at no cost I want you to take a look through these themes and then compare these to the themes available for ObjectDock.
There are two versions of ObjectDock, a free version, which limits you to one Zoomer dock and Plus, the paid version which allows you to have multiple docks of two types, Zoomer and Tabbed.
You should move this thread out of the support forum. It is not support and it's going to end up as a Mac vrs PC thread.
