A: In the case of Overgrowth, you are good to go! Valve has already assured us that we can transfer our preorders onto Steam. See this blog post for more details. Furthermore, Impulse has also agreed to honor preorders. So one Overgrowth preorder will be good on Steam, Impulse, and direct from us on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
In the case of NS2, it is a little more complicated. Unknown Worlds doesn't have it in writing that Valve will distribute NS2 on Steam yet. I am pretty confident on their behalf that NS2 will be good to go on Steam, but it is not 100% confirmed.
This topic confuses me. If you want it on Steam, why would you buy it from Impulse? It's like buying the PS3 copy of a game when you wanted to play it on your Xbox.
Wait. So you want to give Stardock money so that Steam can provide you with a product?
I would guess it's cheaper on Impulse. You really don't understand the concept of competition do you? Lower prices is one of the ways to 'steal' competitors' money. Clearly this went over your head.
Anyway, Entvex, IIRC Steam has a "Recognize program" feature. Impulse doesn't typically have much DRM so it should work fine. However you will have to download and install the game through impulse.
You could also just try entering the Registration key into Steam whenever you get your Reg Key. You can see that in "My Registrations" inside of "My Account".
