Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
Can you please look at that and tell me how it looks anything like a pizza?
I think I've just about stopped getting taller. I'm 6'1" (about 186 cm), and my height hasn't really changed this year. I have to shave every thirty minutes though, which is annoying as hell.
It's usually an "I hate Captain Taco" thing on Vent. I feel bad for him
See rawr, instead of going the constructive way and saying "yeah i second Bellach for T2 for winning with an AI rook against an all T1-T2 players team", period, you got all defensive dismissing any value our victory could have. I had already said it wasn't really a great game, but you can't deny it was quite an achievement by me and Bellach, with just teamchat and our skill to win the game against 3 decent players in vent.
So yeah, maybe i'm just trolling away on all your negativity, you kinda gave me the starting key . My last reply on the matter.
P.S: Now that you opened the cherry picking door, i'll use it once before shutting it . I'm guessing you're not supporting bellach cos of this game where you raged blaming (mistakenly imho) him for the defeat, where i got away with a 6-0 record btw :

Nomilarac isn't allowed to be tier 1 till he goes on vent and gets a mic!!!
Also, I believe getting a bit drunk and playing favor mod should be a necessary qualification for any tier 1 player
I will back Nomilarac for tier 1 till no-one plays this game should he achieve these goals
Also, Pacov has already stated in another thread that he thinks nomilarac is a demigod Expert
About RAWRRR, something I can say about him is I've seen him pugging a few times without a vent buddy and his playing has always impressed me.
It's a little too yellow, and there aren't enough pepperonis, but making an icon by hand is incredibly difficult.

^Ouch Zen. Low blow.
Ok it looks like a face that is whistling that went through a rose bush.
lol god damnit zen_god. I hosted that game to test out DA swaps on Oak, prove that you can't swap and interrupt a shield if shield is still up, and help Zen w/ his timing. I coulda sworn that hitting "end game" would remove the game from stats and told him I would do this before the game starts.. but.. it didn't It totally did when I tested something with Kalel.. so.. Idk maybe I'm just retarded. Probably just retarded.
You have to alt-F4.
Hey I got an idea pacov.
There are currently 14 players in Tier 1.
Why don't we do a mini-Tier 1 tourney, where it's a free for all round robin where we continuously play against each other. If we're all the same level then it really shouldn't matter who is with who, because each game should be fairly close.
If anyone doesn't belong on the list, it'll become quite crystal clear.
2v2 or 3v3? In any case.. I'm totally down for this and would love to this Unfortunately, I rarely see some of the tier 1 players actually playing Perhaps it would get them to play more!
Both, although I know I'm more of a 3v3 guy.
But once you play like 3-4 games you can easily weed out the weak links.
man all I know is that some of the absolute best games I've played have been 2v2 games with all tier 1 players. I srsly wish some of them played more.
3v3s can get pretty intense too. You just gotta have enough group of good guys on and each game oozes fun.
Besides, Tier 1's should be active to some extent. If they can't make it for a few games here and there then they're pretty much non-existent from the game.
Once you weed the weaker players out we can have a more objective criteria for Tier 1. Something like, beat these guys in 2v2, or in 3v3 and TADA~ you're on the list.
KalleMIX should be added to avoid for being an ass. We wait 30min to get a game, he has all 60% on his team, i got grahf and sosick so it looks pretty even. We get an early kill and have flag control 2mins into the game and him and his partner ragequit.... Wonder why he has 75% whats the point I just wanted a game .
My current count for tier 1 is about 3 people... I'm not 1 of them.
The new list, if I make it, should be fun.
Actually the list should consist of 1 player, Orcun.
But anyway, we should start up the Tier 1 battles soon after the 2v2 tourney is over. I still have some time left before I get scolded.
Stop worshiping orcun - tis blasphemy.
lol I don't worship anyone. I just tell it as it is.
Pacov do you really think the best person to make a list on the game is someone who rarely plays the game and usually only against people in lagwars. I don't believe you play enough game or with a diverse enough group of people to make a true and balanced list.
Actually, anyone that wants to make a list based on their impressions is qualified to make a list on their impressions. We each make judgment calls when we play with folks about their skill level - I simply made my initial opinions public.
Also, odds are I play with more people than you, though, just perhaps not on OMG_pacov and typically with non-lagwars folks. Anyway, if you have the amazing ability to play a game with someone and say "I think they play really well" or "I think ____ plays a better QoT than ____" then there you have it. I try to form my opinion of skill level over multiple games and based on peer feedback when I have limited exposure. Anyway, people do get better or worse over time, so lists become outdated. This list is reasonably outdated. All of that said, anyone can certainly publish their own list as they like and share your opinions on who you think is the t1/t2/t3/etc. I'm still not really looking to do anything new with this list until after the tourney anyway.
I haven't played with you in YEARS, Pacov. We need'a fix that
I would make my own list but frankly, I'm too well-liked around here.
what... you mean people take offense when they are ranked by their peers! Impossible. Its a pretty easy way to get a lot of people pissed off at you quickly.
No kidding. I hope to be on late tonight. Its a nice long holiday weekend, so I expect I'll bump into a few of you.
