Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
^He said you can leave them at the crystal, althought I wouldn't.
That's the most common build but I don't think it's the best build.
Delay shield, prioritize mulch is better imo.
But I have to go so I can't even explain extensively.
No the 750 heal is only used for when you are running away for survival if you succumb to a gank it makes QoT pretty unkillable, I have taken her all the way from the enemy's gold flag which I wanted to lock with their entire team on me all the way back to the crystal being constantly attacked but with mulch, cloak, shield and monks was easily able to survive. There is really no pt in not having an extra heal to use in none 3v3 situations when shield is on cd....
This is what I've been doing lately as well.
1. Shield I
2. Shamblers I
3. Ground Spikes I
4. Ground Spikes II
5. Mulch I
6. Spike Wave I
7. Ground Spikes III
8. Shield II
9. SAVE
10. Mulch II + Ground Spikes IV
11. Shield III
12. Shield IV
13. Spike Wave II
14. SAVE
15. Goddess of Thorns + Mulch III
16. Spike Wave III
Option 1 (against people with low AoE)
17-19. Entourage I - III
20. Tribute
Option 2 (against people with lots of AoE)
17 - 18. Summon Shamblers II - III
19. Morale I
20. Morale II
I don't prioritize Spike Wave much because it is very low damage/per mana and typically you only use it when someone is trying to back up, or when you port and trying to catch someone running. I know that the range of the ability extends per level, but I tend to get Cloak of Night which helps cover the distance.
You could easily make the argument of swapping levels 1 and 2. If you get Shamblers level 1, you can summon both of them at the crystal which is nice. Plus, everyone hits level 2 so quickly, you rarely will know the difference. However, shielding at the crystal seems to have a more noticeable early-game impact since it guarantees you the XP flag.
There are a few advantages to leveling up mulch instead of shield:
1- You can Shield someone else and then Mulch for yourself to keep both of you alive. If you just level up Shield, you have to make the choice of protecting yourself or an ally. Against teams with high single-target damage (UB, Oak, Erebus) this may not be quite as desirable, but against teams with lots of AoE (Oak, Occulus, UB) then this becomes more desirable.
2- Keeping Shield low level means you always have mana for it, which makes you a cheaper build overall since you need less helms
3- Mulch marks creeps like Cirlce of Fire and Heaven's Wrath. Regardless of where you are in the map, any creep that's been tagged with damage from this ability rewards you with full xp and gold. You can kill creeps in the mana lane while capping XP flag, for example. This works especially well on Prison.
4- Mulch gives you hp, which has armor. It also does a little bit of damage (mostly only useful against Erebus).
5- Your opponents can't tell what level shield you have by looking at it. If you shield your UB, they'll probably assume that he has the highest shield available when he may not. This means they might back away with him because he looks scarier than he might really be.
^Stop reading my mind!
But because that's generally the build I follow, I put QoT lower on the list for currency - it's very mana intensive.
I don't know who you are fighting but, anyone who can't gank a QoT stopping every few seconds wouldn't of killed you with or without the mulch. Shield would of done fine on it's own.
With regards to Teseer, sure their might of been a more efficient way of doing things, however, my priority is to get back on the field as quickly as possible. So even if I did take out one shambler at like 720-820 health and ran into the enemy, done my damage/slow combo, chances are, by the time I switch out into the mulch/shield form, my shambler would be dead, and I don't really care enough to spend 2-4 seconds taking it out again and eating it. I'd rather just cast shield, go back into damage mode and take it from there. So my whole argument has been who cares about the order of skills when I won't use it to a certain level anyway? At least at level 13, running and mulching will be a bit more feasible, justifying the 1 second waits for mulching.
I agree with koush on this one. Even though shamblers/mulch gives you certain advantages, mulch and shamblers slow down qot a lot as well and not using it doesn't really matter that much unless you playing a 2v2 or 1v1. The mulch becomes more handy for 2v2s and 1v1s.
The only time I play QoT is in the tournament and I don't believe I've used mulch once so far. Therefore I agree as well.
Oh great, I wrote a reply and then it never posted. Wow so much for wasting my time.
if you dare to use firefox, download lazarus... its an add on that keeps that ensures that even if forums go boom, etc, you can still recover your post... highly useful for forum nerdery.
Lifekatana would have a stroke if he read some of this shit.
Cow has the best QoT build now, let's see if he agrees and uses it in the tourney.
I'll also add that getting interrupted changing forms is a death sentence because all sorts of bugs happen in laggy games.
I am afraid you are incorrect. Though I do not even know what it is; as the only QoT's still left in the tournament, either Rawrr or I have the best build, you can't argue with results! Cow was beat in the first round like a month ago.
Well now don't I feel stupid(again), cheering for a team that is no longer in the playoffs.
Also, to clarify, I wasn't talking about his original build, I gave him the Lifekatana build yeserday in exchange for spitless beast build. (secret builds, the trading game heh)
Firefox has too many buttons.
I'll rewrite what I wrote when I feel like wasting time but it's probably not going to make a difference.
Who in the world is lifekatana? I just did a quick check and he's played queen of thorns once since January and lost, his build is irrelevant.
And lol cow gave you his secret no spit beast build? There's really nothing special about it (just stats and diseased claws instead of spit) making it work is more about the style of play, following through with your kills instead of relying on spit and timing your grasps right is even more important. The ultimate goal of the build is to get Journeyman Treads because of all the overextending you have to do. Then later in the game mage slayer to make up for the damage you're losing out on without spit and to make your auto attack useful.
First round? take a look at the brakets again. I am sure my queen is just as good as rawrr's or your build. I am sure they are almost exactly the same as well amongst the 3.
Well,...
I just won a game ( as bots UB) along Bellach (erebus) and an AI (rook, soccer-mom dropped in min7-8), against Rawr (tb), Teseer (cloak erebus) and Peterdumptruck (Oculus). Yes, you read well, 2v3, with an AI rook. ^^
Now, i don't know if this qualifies me for T1 by your standards pacov, and i don't really give a shit honestly , as imho there are several guys as good as those in your "T1" list that aren't there cos they just don't play in the closed circle you're entrenching yourselves in....
BUT, if you want this list to have any kind of value, you should definitely at least include Bellach in your T2 list, since he managed to win this game along me and AI rook against 3 players that are already on your list, including a T1 player.
Game was this, http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1393422/player/80976/, and i saved the replay too, if u want to see it i'll upload it to GR. Be advised though, it's not really a great game, but a great lesson on map control by 2 players ( me and bellach), a why-cloak-erebus-just-doesnt-cut-it, and a guide on how not to play oculus.
Sorry, but i couldn't resist posting it,specially for the shit soccer-mom was giving me before he dropped, for not having a tp to go help him and ere after buying curr .
lol.. the replay is definitely worth watching to see an occulus never use blast off once, sell everything to get creeps (aka walking around with 2 items the rest of the game), doesn't use sigils, 2 generals who don't get clerics / monks, an occulus who focuses on taking out an ai only and complains that it doesn't give him gold, a beast that buys cur1, an erebus and an occulus who get cloak against a team they need botf.. I'm too lazy to go on, but don't worry there is more available.
Also, name someone you think should be tier 1 that isn't and why.
Ok but you see, that's why Peter is not very good. He lacks basic common sense.
Oh but LORD is correct, lifekatana did have a fantastic Queen.
oh? http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1392408/player/36105/
^^ that game made me rofl. Wtf happened?
Peter isn't good @ occulus, completely agreed. But he plays fine with erebus, oak, and qot
You weren't there, so I'm not sure what makes you rofl.
And I thought we were beyond cherry picking, but I suppose I expected too much.
it makes me rofl because the people on your team and the people on peter's team along with a qot alongside peter (which Peter said did minions lol).
It always makes me smile when he wins against people who don't think he's good (you) and refuse to play on his team (Jona). That game moreso because I NEVER would have imagined peter's team would win.
Anyway.. I wouldn't have resorted to cherry picking.. but .. you then said he wasn't good. You get what comes around!
He isn't good, he lacks common sense. That's a general statement based on the choices that he made - not because he lost the game. I didn't resort to cherry picking and I'm not making a big deal about it.
It's like how you were quick to criticize why Jona isn't Tier 1 although he posted up 6 replays of him beating Tier 1s. While it's easy to point out other people's faults with their logic, you're being oblivious to your own.
I told ya man, but i'll repeat it: I.don't.give.a.shit . This whole list thing is ridiculous, i've said it quite a few times, but as it stands, i'm trying to make the most fun of it. And as i knew posting about that game would kinda piss you , i'm trying to xploit it
A (oh my god! ) T1 player, along some respected players losing to 2 "lesser" ( ) players and an AI rook ( ), that is, even worse than 2v3, kind of proves my point of how ridiculous you and your pennis-rubbing list is
IF i took this list as seriously as you and followed your advice, i'd name myself for example. I actually did in a joking way some time ago, and pacov actually asked me to provide him proof of my awesomeness, serious business i tell ya (no offense pacov, i love ya ). There's been quite a few games i could have saved and uploaded to pleasure pacov's demands, but as i couldn't care less, i just didn't take the effort.
This last game of ours kinda reminded me of pacovs requests, so i couldnt resist mentioning it for the fucks of it.
Now, let me tell ya sumthing, it's quite sad that a list that tries to be serious about the best players in this small community, is then made by the EVEN SMALLER CIRCLE of players who are already on top of it and only play with and against themselves. Let me laugh out loud at that
I was "quick" to criticize Jona because Jona approached Pacov about being on Tier 1 and Pacov specifically asked for feedback on opinions about Jona. I gave my opinions.. which were completely unrelated to the replays he posted.. but yes, I did dismiss every single one of them, as most of them are not surprising at all in the outcome (a noob on the other team or bad demigod selection). Why he complained about my opinion of him when he asked for it is beyond me. Did I think that his cherry picking showed that he was worthy of Tier 2? Yes.. I did and I mentioned that.
So.. I don't see where you're going with that? Are you saying you think Jona is Tier 1 now? Mildly confused.. but it is 6 a.m.
lol all you want, you're still not on the list and it's not because we haven't played against you. I've played with a LOT of people.. not just solely with and against the other people on Tier 1. Do I prefer to play with / against those people? Yes, I enjoy a good game. That's kind of the point. But I would be surprised if you mentioned someone who's very good and I have never played with or against them.
You still haven't mentioned anyone you think should be on Tier 1 and isn't and why you think they should be Tier 1. It sounds like you're just bitching to bitch.
