Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.

I spend 400 mana to put up a tower with god-knows-how much hp. I watch 2 demigods struggle to kill it. By the time they do that, I put up another...

I agree and that adding 1.5 will certainly be better than what we have, but I'd like to come up with the best approach... you guys think i should add anything to this concept?
Well that doesn't mean you CAN'T play him. Case solved.
nominating peterdumptruck for Tier2. He consistently plays in high rank games and has gotten considerably better since he started hanging out on vent. He's starting to branch out from just playing minions as well.. and while his assassin erebus isn't amazing, it's coming along. Only good chars are oak and erebus tho.
^I think the problem with him is that he himself also causes too many losses for the team, which in turn would put him out of any tiers.
+1 for rawrrrr + anyone else getting peter to play things other than minion builds. I'm glad he made the jump and is playing more often in vent.

I'll second that.
My problem with Peter is that he concedes when anything is going even slightly wrong (IE, his team is 1 tower down). I don't care if you are god himself, I don't want you on my team if you aren't going to even try.
Also, going down the t1 list I can see reasons to remove everyone, including myself, except for Orcun.
I vote Orcun #1 MVP key-All-Star Demigod Player.
I don't know if Pete is still like that. I'd always groan if i had Pete on my team especially in high level games as it meant I'd have to compensate for a minion build AND a player that would likely give up or whine if things didn't go our way... that's 2 strikes against the dude before a game even begins. I really dislike it when players are inflexible (especially if I am playing with them alot)... in his case, it always meant a tier 1 dg was always going to be used up on a minion build (oak or erb)... which isn't so great against a strong team. Now that he's using more characters and not sticking to only minion builds, well... I'm sure that makes a pretty big difference. I think I had him on this list as tier 2 before though... and several of the lagwars folks shot him down... I figure RAWRRRR probably had similar concerns with games with Pete on his team in the past, but if he's thinking tier 2 is good for pete, then no problem here.
I can only conclude that this has to be some sort of inside joke on behalf of GM. Not to slight him as a tier 1 player, but he's on the list because of GM's endorsements - not because I ever saw him in any game as the Christ child. Anyway, we'll have plenty of time to pick through the revised tier list after the tournament. All of us tier 1's are going on the chopping block and we'll see who shakes out.
I agree with Magnus.
I have this problem with him as well.. but I'm convincing him to see that comebacks are possible no matter where you're at. Also to stay positive even when you're down a couple deaths. Anyway, there are several people on the current tier 2 list that I would put him over.
Edit: Actually his minion builds aren't terrible.. even in high level play. Plus, since joining vent, he'll actually buy cit upgrades, and now he almost always buys currency (never, ever happened before we mocked him repeatedly for never buying cit upgrades). Idk I think I'm the only one that sticks up for him.. even tho usually I just yell at him. w/e.

and he should be in tier 2.
That was true when he used to play like everyday but he is not as good as he was imo
^The problem is that the number of serious games have significantly decreased, so you can't really witness where Orcun truly shines. While it's great to have variety, variety also makes it difficult to distinguish whether there was a character advantage or whether the player himself is actually better.

If you start constantly yelling at any of those Tier 2 players then they'll improve too.
I think the rate of improvement in Peter is markedly slower than those of a normal DG player, although his assassin Erebus was not terrible. He just needs to tweak it here and there and it should be ok.

I think Orcun, 2nana and -Heroes-Temp all deserve their own tier.
