Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
And I'd think that many would kindly agree. I haven't played with many of the folks on this list in quite some time, so I can't really confirm that some of the players that have been nominated are the world's greatest or anything like that. Nor can I confirm that someone isn't just nominating one of his buddies, etc. If we do start playing more games together, I think it will become more and more clear who the best players are.
I completely agree with this, but this also makes clear that win percentage doesn't really matter a whole lot. Change the label to "% of time a player is able to stack the odds in their favor." But many players will attempt to balance games based on this stat. Which means they will try to stick 90% guy with the lowest % guy for balance. I very much doubt that any of the games this little league will get going will have teams based on win %.
While that might be true, where we are is where we are.
I welcome your thoughts and feedback. No problem and thanks.
We certainly could try something like this, but while it would exclude new players, it would also exclude well seasoned players that don't use this forum. So, I say we give it a shot and see what happens. If you have a suggestion for game title and password, let's hear it. I can place that in the OP and people can give it a go. Worst case you host your passworded game... no one joins... and then you host it again without a password.
Regarding times people play, I obviously can't speak for everyone. With the holidays coming up, my schedule's been more erratic. Been able to get more forum posts in during the day at work, but haven't been as available to play. I'd think it would be good if we could say some games are going up at 6pm EST with the password. Join. If you don't get in that game, host your own, etc.
I'm pretty sure I'm the only one allowed to answer questions with questions. I thought I was, anyway...
And I agree with the overall picture. Its quite all right that several of you guys disagree with me in perhaps his being on this list. And you can disagree with my logic as well. I believe he plays minion erebus very well. I don't believe that the build is viable for high level 3v3, but I still find his style of play quite competent and good for what it is. The thread is titled who are the best DG players and I feel that peter has one of the best minion erbs even though it is not all that viable late game unless he or his teammates have been able to feed. I do understand your points, though.
If you honestly don't think his minions are viable you haven't played him with a decent team to back him up. When me peter and some other good player play the other team almost always gets delivered a loss. Peter's builds are extremely solid and I would gladly have him on my team over many of the others on the list.
I know... and that's when we get into who your teammates are, etc. Its valid to go there, of course, because the greatest player can easily lose with a meh team. But if I could have either the best assassin erb or the best minion erb on my team, I'd generally chose assassin. And that's because I find that good assassin builds scale much better than minion. I have no doubt that pete is quite formidible in a good team, but then again, most are. I don't really mean any of my comments as a knock against pete, either.
I bet my build outdoes both
whatchu talking about, mac?
Hybrid is superior to both builds, because it combines the strenghts(pushing power of minion erebus, stunsupport of assasin) of both while being able to adapt quickly to the situation. It allows flexibility in your build to go either more minion or either more assasin depending how it goes.

I, oo7_warhammer, am of course an awesome Demigod.
I would also like to put a string out there for Supafishy, also a good player, but i am better, and kill his arse all the time.
Lol
I was thinking that one way to mitigate the issue where some of the top level players would not be willing to play a game against others in this list would be allow 2 man premades in 3v3 or 4v4 games. That does mitigate a little of the risk. Do people generally feel like the balance of a game would be completely skewedin a game if a high level 2 man premade + 1 high level pug vs 3 high level players ? Generally, without voice chat, high level players are already teleganking and focused on portal control as needed. Thoughts? I'd personally be fine on either side of the equation so long as I had a little confidence in my 2 pug partners (eg they are people on this list that I already consider good). I suppose I'd even be willing to give it a shot with 2 random folks from the list vs 2 pre + 1 pug.
You should make an alternate section for "Good enough" players.
As in, will probably lose against the players on the list, but it won't be an embarrassing loss and you will at least demonstrate you know how to play.
A perfect example of this is a player named Oakman he rolls into and out of rooms constantly looking for a squad that is insanely OPd compared to the competition, and even then he tells the team hes on that hes leaving unless they choose one of the "holy triumvirate, UB OAK EREB" As such he has like 500 games played with a 80% or higher win percentage but hes really not that good.
This
Maybe... gets a little tricky though. I can only personally verify about 6-9 people on this list as people that I consider excellent players. Not because I think all the other players are meh, but because I haven't played against them in some time or I wasn't all that impressed when we played before (everyone has their off games) and so on.
We'll probably get to something like that at some point...
Anyway, merry christmas folks.
I know next year as part of the Elemental project we want to be able let players setup schedules to play each other and then be able to report wins/losses and upload the replays and such. It would be done via the Impulse system but it would let Demigod players organize tournaments a lot lot easier.
Sounds great!!
I find anyone in general that has a win % of 70 or higher does this.
These are korean players I know
2nana
Heros_Temp
They were the best players in Game ranger.
Did you add 2nana?? just making sure ,,,he rocks..
Well seeing how I've beaten a lot of those players on the list, I nominate myself for Fire TB.
Ok ,,, I nominate myslef for rage quitting
Seriously I rage quitted so many times in Pro-games...
because of .. damn parents.. and I got banned from my desktop computer.. lol
yes i am so dumb
I was just gonna nominate you! Oh well, I'll vote for you instead.
Wrastler118 for Fire TB... if you think he's gonna be a squishy snack, you're in for a nasty surprise.
And I vote for 2Nana as well, he actually doesn't seem to mind playing on not that great a team unlike most 80% players I see.
I have too agree with this statement. But also know what it is like to want to play with friends. Honestly to be able to make this list you should be able to play half of Demigods at a pro level. You should be able to jump into a game and play any DG that your team needs. I honestly could care less if you are only good with one. This is a team game so we should have a list of pre-mades you hated to face as a PUG.
My active list would include
Kira, bier, KalelSMX, Obscenitor, Ke5trel
Non active orcun_BL,
I would like to mention a few non active beta testers that were damn good Wagnard, ultimeh, Flurus, TBO and TLO, and my 2 v 2 ESL Partner Dalzk
have beaten most of these guys in 1on1 pfff
