Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
This would also keep good players that aren't active in the forums from playing though, too.
thatguyyoulove - i nominated magla because his UB stomps me. not sure if its his build or his skill, but IMO not to toot my horn but if you can stomp me consistently you should be in the hall of fame. you guys can take him off if no one agrees.
also, was looking at my old ass friend list. He doesnt play anymore but id like to mention Stevenp_86. He had the scariest QOT ive ever seen before. I still have nightmares.
also would like to reminisce about playgroundlegend. one games hes like "you two just dont die, ill win this game". rofl i miss that guy.
Ugh! Not even an honorbale mention for me = sad panda.
I agree Kira's beast is not something I want to be on the other side of.
Ill second this
oh and id like to nominate WindsweptStone for his sedna

Izuz is a beast with oak...

I would like to put some DG's to faces
Kitty007: UB
Ephiphenomenon: UB
Bad_Wong: Erebus Oak
ObiWhan: Oak/UB
thx for the extra info, cow. Added your suggestions tb. I started crossing out players that I don't believe are active anymore.
Horsestrangler is a pretty beast UB
Murder_DN is good, fun to play with, and a great teammate. I remember him playing a devestating Erebus
horse is on the list (see obscenitor) and I added Murder. Thanks
I appreciate pete's minion erb. IMO its one of the best in the game.
What the hell. Are we playing against the same guy who basically only beefs up his minions, gets horn of battle and sits behind a tower while he only leads his minions? Sure he might be intimiating to towers and early game foes but past level 10 he is basically a sitting duck. I always go vamp against him, I just play out the game till level 11, stun (9 second stun on minions) and destory him while his minions are basically seeing stars (At this point he usually has like 3k health because of his minion related items). He has the most selfish build I've ever seen, and complains to his ally when he dies cause apperently it was something he did, and not his selfish ways. We are clearly playing against different Peters.
Yeah we all know Peters.
It seems we're on the cusp of the tone of this post changing dramatically.
With this patch? I doubt it. But there was an spirit/hybrid(you can't really go minion with oak tbh) that took HoB and just basically downed your citadel with 1600 hp spirits who are immune to most attacks. When most of your towers were eliminated the oak could just cap on towers fight a bit and send his minions in waves to kill your cit. Like minion erebus, but a little bit more nasty.
We create a new level of prestige with the new league. Honestly, most players already know this ladder is "a bunch of crap". So, create a ladder that matters.
Sort of like, playing in the NBA or winning all of your street games. I can definitely see people who would never want to play at the NBA level, but is that really the majority here?
I'll answer for him in the form of a question. Do you know of any pure stat and beastial wrath build that is viable in a high level game? Do you know of any pure mana build (aka buying only mana items) that is viable in a high level game?
The "well, he's the best at what he does" argument doesn't necessarily mean they are good. There are 2 similarities between the following people: The guy who ran a marathon in 2 hours, 3 min and 59 seconds, and the guy who squirt milk out of his eye 9.2 feet. Can you guess? They each have a world record. Would I put them on the same playing field? Hell no.
O....................................................K.................................................
So, this list is getting pretty long, and while I personally think the list has changed from 'best players' to a list of 'highly skilled demigod players,' or 'very good players' list' or something like that, I for one am thankful for a one stop shop for those of us left who like to play at non-noob levels. Granted, I'm no pro, nor do I think I belong on the OP intended list, but I have beaten MANY on the list and have been beaten by many as well. No it wasn't 'fully balanced' or a pro-competitive game, just good ole' fashioned pug games w/ a little balance. (i.e. I'm sure many on this list are MUCH better than me)
I'll get back to my point. I would love to see pretty much that whole group follow the idea of a 'certain title' with a 'certain password' for faster joins on games without noobs or any way of coming together for that matter. I play for fun, and accordingly enjoy variety, so I also like 'all random games' or 'no ub, ere, oak' or 'triples allowed', etc. These variations dont work at all w noobs or even rarely w mediums....
Also, it would be helpful (or possibly pointless) at least for me to know times this 'group' would be getting on-- or at least high traffic times for our 'Fight Club?'
The first rule of fight club is........"We can't play if no one is on at the same time!"
Feel free to add, subtract, hate, or tell me....."of course you should've been on the list.........of mediocre supports to these great players."
P.P.S. (sorry so long, and sorry Pacov if this shouldve been a new thread)
This is a nice list but without getting specific, I will say that my experience is that many of those listed aren't "the best" but rather just very good Demigod players in general.
I have played a number of those players and while they are good, their win percentages are largely because they won't go into a game that they aren't confident that they'll win based on who their teammates are.
Does this you mean you agree they should all fight it out in a Royal Rumble Style Tournament to see who is the King of the Demigods?
Seriously though, if we had server side support for close ended tournaments or mini-leagues, we would not be having this discussion right now about who is the best. (or it would be of a different nature).
I have to agree here. Peter can be annoying early-mid and bring a lot of pressure, but he's not that great overall. He's been doing the same thing since May and it's not that hard to counter.
