Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
I really find NinkiCZ to be a top player, would like to see him at tier 1.
reminder to myself to check replay with thundercles.
NO! I was just kidding, that was my second time playing that build... Hedgie totally carried me.
Damnit, he's gonna look at the replay and make a seperate Tier 4 category for me.
Tier 4
For players who play a lot of games yet continue to suck because they're too old and can't learn so good anymore.
Hey hey you haven't added me to tier 3 yet!
Don't worry, Thunder. According to the game title, Tier 2 is only "Intermediate"

Heh... meh to you hedgie
You on Pacov?
not for another 2-3 hours. If you are free around then, just idle in lagwars vent and I'll find you when I get on.
Ah no I need to sleep then, I'm busy tomorrow.
i can take alot of the guys in t1, and can remember taking at least half specifically. jeez i dont play as much anymore and you guys speak my name without fear
ummm who are you?
I second this nomination.
le sigh. exactly
lethstang, I remember your name. But I haven't played against you recently. ...I don't think. And of course, I've only been playing since September/October...
I like having games with Lethstang on my team... I know he is not going to screw me and leave me overextended when I play a tank like Rook. Since I have played with most of the tier 1 / tier 2 players I can say that Lethstang is definetely a candidate for Tier 1 with Oak, LE or UB and I know I can chase far with LE when he is Sedna because he'll be waiting for the save after the kill.
ok i withdraw my app for t1.
i was just so thoroughly dominated by a team who arent even on the list (oh, and my teammates were very competent. oh, i was also erubus who i think is slightly op) that i think i need to take a week off for some rape counseling.
GJ awuffleablehedgie, nomilaric, and dundoon.
also, they had a DA (played brilliantly). i have no excuse
I'm actually on that list T2, I used to go by abuggeredhedgie but then I became less bitter and more wuffleable and so I became awuffleablehedgie
Leth, I played with you today, don't feel bad, you're pretty good
I just realized, I've played with 3/4 the people on this list. It basically covers anyone who plays two or more games per day.
No wallstop lololol
get on games r up!!!
4 of the guys on your tier 1 list will never join a PUG game. They only play if they know their team mates or have vent going or teams are so badly stacked that there is no way to loose.
2 of them have no chance to win a balanced game.
Seriusly lets rename this thread to : "People i like to play with"
Tier one: People who are in my premade or can beat my premade.
Tier two: People who know what sigil is and why not to buy creeps upgrades without a armor upgrade
Tier three: People who dared to cheat againts me
PS.
I feel so sorry for people that really beg you to put their names here.
I actually wanted to boast about that game where Archon and I killed Lehstang twice in the first 5 min
Anyway I don't think this list works at all, the way we do now with the whole vent bussiness and being tolerant of noobs is a much better way to get some good games going.
Gotta play to learn
I love Vent and I'm glad so many people use it now. It's totally renewed my love of Demigod.
I tend to agree. Though my current approach to dg does lose a little bit of competitive edge for the sake of including more people. I've already accomplished my underlying goal of getting more people player together more often. But the list still exists. Eventually it will be forgotten, of course, but for those that want to continue the discussion, by all means do so.

Irek, my friend - why so serious? Tis a silly, not incredibly objective list. But I will address your criticism.
I'm sure that might be the case for some. I made an effort, at least to some degree, to keep individuals out that I didn't feel fit the classification. To be sure, some people were nominated just because one of their buddies voted them in. Others are on this list that I wasn't all that impressed with when I played with them, but I can only assume have had their skill level increase since I played with them last as people I consider good recommended them. Anyway, its certainly not a specific list of people "I" chose because I like to play with them.
Well... I am trying to categorize the best players - its not an exact science. You are right - some of those players are in my premade and could beat my premade, but I don't think that's the only qualification. I would add that I'd hope whoever is in tier 1 would fall into that category though.
There are quite a few good people in tier 2 that simple haven't been bumped to tier 1. And I'm sure there are many others that should be added to tier 2. I think your statement is a bit of an overgeneralization. I'd hope players in tier 2 would understand the basic concepts you listed, but if that's all they can do, then they shouldn't be tier 2 imo.
Nah - that's silly. Tier 3, as I defined it, are players that simply didn't fit into tier 1 or 2. Perhaps you misread and assumed that tier 3 meant "players that should be avoided." But regarding players that should be avoided, I only listed 1 player as that's one player that I clearly know, without a doubt, chose to stat exploit. Plenty of people have called out other players that should most likely be avoided, like py4eek, but I haven't personally played against him and confirmed, so I don't really have much to say about that. I can say that I would probably avoid a game with him, though, because of what many have said...
Please, call out the individuals they are referring to. One of my requirements for tier 1 was that players" do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well". Being placed into tier 1 doesn't necessarily mean 100% that you belong there. Individuals can be discussed, debated, etc. As you are clearly indicating that 2 people on the list couldn't possibly win a balanced game (eg they aren't all that good), you might as well get specific as you clearly disagree with someone being on tier 1. Or if you like, irek, who do you consider to be some of the best players at dg?
I'm really glad to hear that and hope many more will join you on lagwars vent.
