Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
TB and Rook I think are your other great characters. Do you have the replay of you, me and Renz vs Ninki, Horsestrangler and raerreggin (kingslet)? That was a good game. Don't tell Ninki I suggested posting it though lol.
lol so my addition made list too long for you katana? Ke5 added a replay though it may not be a very good example because we just ate that team since Kestrel was hacking;)
if I get a game going with good teammates on both sides ill post it. Not emotionally attached to being on the list so if it is getting long or you are not sure, you can take me off pacov, wont be offended.

Pac, I was the rook in that game that you played against (tag "TheJadeMonkey"). It was a bummer that the game dropped, but I'm pretty sure that was just a fluke, particularily since the invalide gamestate happened right when Maccilia crashed. The stat whore stuff was kind of "heat of the moment" frustration of some of the guys I think. No hard feelings, at least on my part... I just thank the (demi)gods that connections are soooo much better now than at launch. Also, a couple things I might mention about that game that might help your team...
1. Capping the side portals early let me double farm the left side, getting a slight early game exp advantage. I would personally leave them uncapped, at least for a little while.
2. IMHO your team waited a bit too long to get some cit upgrades. Of particular note were tower regen 1 and priests (which came quite a bit later than ours IIRC). Given your assassin heavy team, earlier priests probably would have been a good buy.
3. Both demi's on my left side (so your right) left the lane fairly early at the same time, loosing out on the lane exp and letting oak and I push that tower down very early. Around the same time oak and I ran over and took out the front tower by the side portal too... Easy gold for us.
4. Your rook should have spread out his tower farms a bit. A few times he had 4-5 towers all stacked, boxing us in close to the towers by our valor flag. Since they were grouped so tight however, I could run up and slam twice to get rid of them while only taking relativly minor damage.
5. Didn't see, but I think you might have gotten good use out of a speed wand, because I vaguely remember you getting eaten a few times by our reg.
6. I remember one skirmish over by the debilitating flag where I was getting whacked by both your UB and rook, oak might have been there too... Anyways, I was able to get off a 3sec pot cast w/o getting inturrupted, which ended up in your rook eating it. Should have probably been +1 kill for you.
I appreciate the feedback. My premade has always been a bit of a shapeshifter... there's no core 2 or 3 man premade there. We fluctuate anywhere from 4-8 people and as a result, don't get the benefit that comes from playing with the exact same characters. And I'm, unfortunately for my team, I'm going through a phase where I don't give a real rip about winning. Which means I'm choosing tier 2 demigods on a more regular basis. I could tell you before that game began that we would lose. We get different strengths and weaknesses based on who is playing in our little premade at the time. Some combos of players are more complimentary than others.

I had a few matches with Ragarth and Kestrel yersterday, I can tell that when Ragarth warms up more he is gonna be a real challenge.
I might create a tier 4 called the Luft tier and put you there
I'd like to see a replay of one of his games if possible.
I had another rediculous thought: tiers based on character. I doubt I'll do this unless I really feel like nerding it up, but I think a list that indicates tier 1 regs, etc, would be great. Then this list wouldn't just be bragging rights and peer approval, but it might serve as a better way for forming teams... and we could put the number 1 and 2 assassin erb up against each other and see who tears things up the most. We'd also be able to form some very interesting matches by mixing putting number 1 erb + number 1 rook + number 1 ub vs number 2 team. That would generate some bragging rights and some good competition, imo.
nope. I'd still like to see a replay with you using other dgs well. You left enough of an impression with me to get a nomination, but, as the silly definition stands above...

Nice to see you still kicking Orcun. Orcun is tier 1 in any book, to doubt that makes you a noob.
Also, it is pretty annoying to beat pretty much every premade there is with almost all characters, but because you guys want replays I get stuck in the mud. I only save my 2 v 2 replays, and I only use Rook, tb, QoT in 3 v 3.
I might do some 3 v 3's tonight and get some replays with QoT and TB. Just to please the crowd.

Peter posted it because he likes it when top players get owned, I kind of feel bad linking it here but it does show my skills off a bit. The call for proof was vocalized several times so here is some. I also had excellant help with Peter, Yeahneil and Bartek kudos to you three.
Pacov, feel free to post the brothers game that you won after this one if you feel cheated by this replay. I didn't save either game unfortunatly. I think my team didn't do so well in the brothers game due to demigod choice because nobody could push trouser off his flag. If I was rook it might have been different.

lol just realized there is a big (i mean BIG) fail in my logic on the tourney. if you have a group of 4, thats 3 variations of 3 player teams, but they will not be able to play each other (duh that means 3vs3 as in 6 players in a group.. stupid iokke). solution = bigger groups or intra group matching. For example 2v2s are played within same group, 3v3s are 3 games matched vs another group. similarly based on timeslots. in any case my thinks you need a point system with as many different games as you can fit in to get better results
edit: I think it will be too much of pain and requires too much of a dedication from all the players for us to try to run something like this. Probably will not happen no matter which system you choose

I really wasn't all that impressed with either game (the one we lost and the one we won), so I didn't save a replay.
I watched what you posted... jon committed suicide in less than 1 minute (great start). I dropped bartek at 1 min 10. At 3 min, tactical decided to try to take on 3 of you and died. At 5 min, I overpursue rook like a goof and die... which results in jon dying again... followed by tactical dying again... all in a 15 second period, if even. at 5:20 or so I gank peter. This sadly makes the only 2 kills we've scored against your team... (we've died a total of 5 times to those 2 kills). You guys are dominating on flag control and already have us by almost 1000 at 8min. we kill bartek again at 8:51. trouser dies to cow a 9min. 11:42... tactical dies after deciding to use blast off into 3 people on your team when we were backing out and clearly indicated we needed to back the fug up. 12:55, I kill peter again. 13:36 - cow wipes trouser and jon again. At this point, i have 3 kills, jon has 1. your team has 5 for cow, 1 for pete, 1 for neil, and 1 for bartek (4 v 8). 13:45, tactical kills cow, then dies. tactical has died 5 times at this point. you guys are still owning the map. cow kills tactical again at 18min. at 18:40, i kill pete again, but then get chased by 2, another ports in, and then i die.... would have made it out if not for rooks long range stun - good bowling!. at 20 min, me n trouser gank bartek. But then at 20:21, my one real f-up of the game (imo)... i have cow down to 270 hp or so... he starts to port away... i've got no bite, a stun on deck, and I decide to try to aa him for a kill... he ports away with like 50 hp or something... idiot move on my part. that would have been a nice money kill. instead... i end up getting killed by a boulder roll from neil... lolz. classsic stuff.
incidentally, you guys are at warscore 9 now and we are at 6... its us with 14 deaths, you guys with 8. tactical kills cow... tactical kills pete at 23min. tactical kills bartek at 23:42. heh... now he's got his shite together, but it doesn't matter at this point - the citadels like a minute from going down as giants have already been popped and we're still warscore 6. Anyway, game lost to kills and warscore...goes on a bit longer, but I've spent quite a bit of time on this already.
Anyway, not to slight your team at all, but i don't really remember anything exceptionally impressive from the game. My team was feeding your team early, so we couldn't keep up with flag control and that continued throughout the game. The only real coordinated effort that impresed me was rook's port to kill me when I was being chased by u and bartek. That was great. Fun game though. You know its a bad sign when in less than a minute, one of your teammates dies and you ask him why and his response is "i have no idea." Tis a bad omen. Lots of fun that game though.
I still don't mind another loss, btw. Nice to have some competitive games!
Alright Pacov, I played some more games today because fresher replays are better then digging something up where it is a one sided match. Now I won a few matches as rook, won with TB carrying his weight. But they are your generic team matches and I don't care about them, hell I doubt you want to watch them all.
Although the replay I will posting is actually of me losing lol, me pugging against my team mates (Renz and McShane lol (Plus dundoon)). Now you probably know that Renz and McShane are badass, so it is understandable why I lost. However I do a damn good QoT in the process, I'm sure everyone can appericate a QoT that doesn't die all game. I think it is an enjoyable match.
