Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
1.2.3.
Not it.
you do not want groups based based on same skill level. That hurts high skilled players and helps weaker ones. if anything you'd want to spread those percieved to be tier 1 out.
Do a poll but more detailed one explaining the time you need to put in.
also dont forget to add to the pole topic name "3v3 no nubs no pre"... but you know someone who is playing their third online game will still join and vote;) jk.. but they really will
Still think its better to decide on what structure is best and create a thread explaining it and having people post there to sign up. See my previous post, if you use time slots to create groups can post (with your right hand raised) I can play from 2a.m. to 5a.m. most of the days and will not miss my games when i agree to one.
That would probably result in stacks. Obviously, that's the easiest thing to do, though.
I've been doing something a little silly that you guys can try out to increase the number or tier 2 players joing your games if you like. I host a passworded game that no one can join. Just called it pacov pug and then indicate a time (7PM ET) the game will open up. I'd host the passworded game about 10 minutes before I'm going to host the actual game I'll play in. This gives people that don't mind waiting a small chunk of time a better opportunity to get in the game. Anyway, that's what I'm doing if you see a game called XvX Pacov Pug 7:00PM ET that passworded.
Let's play more games together.
Actually this is a good idea, prolly best way to get a high level game is to create a lobby announcing it so that people can wait a bit prior to it instead of coming in and leaving. That way you get more good players coming in at once vs. having mixed results.
gl with it!
7:00 PM where? Please bear in mind people from all over the world play Demigod and we probably have different time zones
I think it would be cool if we got some clan wars going.. If i could find a group of ppl to talk to with some good leadership skills and good at dg ofcourse. Each person in this group can start their own clan/guild. this will jumpstart the clan/guild system and maybe inspire stardock to do something, such as add some clan support, clan rankings, etc.... just an idea guys. a good one I think....
btw Omicron way to thank zombie for nominating you though i did that few posts prior to even you nominating yourself. Now im expecting a nice sexy & dirty thank you comment from you since he got 1;) yeah i am very bored at work;P
Uhm lol. Most demigod players DO NOT live in the USA, infact I would say most come from Europe/Russia.
7pm ET means Eastern Time in USA/Canada, you can figure out your local time by using windows clock or websites.
ET is −5 hrs GMT or UTC−5 during standard time. Its the New York City timezone.
I want to say that eastern time is the time displayed on this website when it dates replies, but not sure if thats just for me (im central though so doubt that)
LOLOL! here you go!
well not sexy or dirty but did make me laugh so it works
ah.... i don't know. I've got some pretty mixed feelings about this. The main reason I never created a clan (even though I've played regularly with 8-10 people) is that I never personally felt a need to do so. It's always been about playing games. And the continual trend with DG has been against players regularly teaming up. So, if I start playing again with my premade buddies on a more regularly basis, I will end up getting to play less as a result. That limits me to playing pre v pre unless I can figure out a way to end the pre vs pug stigma. The desire to play in a set team is the reason many people end up fighting weaker opponents. I'm not opposed to clans or premades, but my goal for this list and any tournament is for it to a pug list. Not a list of people who can assemble the best teams. I like what you guys are doing with gL, though.
I expect to be on around 7pm ET (1.5 hours from now) if anyone wants to get some games in with.
ADD to the AVOID list: (or shame list)
Chester00
DarkIro
exedis
They lag badly on purpose if they loose, and get to gank tactics so the lag affects them the less (they choose when to attack, while laggin demigod can't react for 4 seconds)
We were having 4 kills and winning, they started lagging to the point of unplayable game
So don't play them ever!
sigh... getting a clan setup through lagwars...
Any chance for a non-tiered player to join in with 37% win ratio?
yup.
holy shite did they piss you off. I saw this saw post in like 3 threads... heh.
Huzzah, see ya in 24 minutes then!
...great... first time ever that *I* lag in a game, and it's this of all games. Just my rotten luck
failboat! noone will ever let you play with them anymore
jk, shit happens, sure theyll understand
well umm im pretty sure they don't want to give out their private vent server(s)... if they have any. Anyway, I think its good that they are hanging out on Lagwars cause I sometimes play with them. Now if more people start doing that....
I'm just going to idle in Clan Pacov though.
Bitches
not if i go afk there first. Still playing some games. Join up kiddos... next 1 in 5.
don't sweat it. We can try it again.
