Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
hola guys ,
K, second try to claim myself Last time Cow said Prussian-Havoc so-so player and even not listed in any of both tier.
Now atleast two players from opp team are listed. Still playing with BotS as favor and still think it's better for UB then BotF.
here is the fresh replay, played it a hour ago - Ke5trel,nomilarac,morpheas768 vs. Auroson1c,mikeg29907,[ShakeNBake]:

Also want to claim nomilarac, he is great with LE.
PS: 2 lifecatana - tnx for warm words to my game skillz.
gg auro - shake was a v good sedna considering he was playing Random
A game with high level players that you aren't in a pre with is a PUG. So long as there are no prearranged teams, its a pug. And obviously, you can play however you want. I'm just saying that being great in a premade is not always equal to being great in a pug. The distinction I'm making is that a tier 1 player would do well in either pre or pug. So, a tier 1 player is good not just in 2v2 on prison or 3v3 on cata or only in a premade, etc. A tier 1 player can do it all. And frankly, I don't think many people on the current tier 2 list are individuals that only play in premade teams, so I don't even think this is that big an issue. The posts I make at 3am...
I'll check out the replay a little later today auro. Thanks for posting it!
Agreed. I just go there for laid back games.
Another gr8 replay ! Damn, it was HOT ! I was really on fire

And of cours thanks goes to my teammates, they did a gr8 job, QoT especially
Auroson your showing great skill(haven't watched the replays but I can guess:p) but should a good player not only play the overpowered demigods but also those who weren't so gifted by GPG?
Pacov, I don't see how 2vs2(or 1vs1) is a measure of skill. Now I'm the first to admit I have, due to my intense hate, only played a few of these low player games. But to my inexperienced eye the revolve solely on getting the early advantage and securing the gold flag*. Out of gold comes items, items means more dominace, means more flags mean warscore etc. Securing this early advantage is taking the strongest early laners, now in 2vs2 there is another factor; taking the right combination. This is either UB + sedna, or Erebus+ Oak, or alternatively on Crucible Rook is the winning choice. UB+sedna means massive damage + healing, and oak+erebus means super waves of minions. Win the first two early engagements, goldflag-> win.
*On Crucible mainly.
2v2 Cataract is almost as unforgiving a playmode as 4v4 Levi. 2v2 Cataract game is over the second you fuck up.
2v2 is fun but man do ya haveta trust your teamie.
I personally prefer 3v3 and greater games (I have more fun), but 2v2 games generally do require a high level of skill imo. 1v1 is a whole other beast. I've played 1v1 enough to be good, but I generally have no fun with this type of play. Plus its the easiest mode for stat exploiters to work people over. And I think what hedgie was saying about 2v2 cataract means alot - you have to be highly skilled because if you do screw up, you may have blown the game for your teammate. In a 3v3 game, you are not necessarily screwed if someone on your team chokes once or twice.
Nah I can win/comeback from 4 kills down. It is about how well you can control the map. It is a much more refined process in my mind.
Coming back from losing on prison is rather hard though 2 v 2, possible, but harder.
I think 2 v 2 is the hardest experience though because it is harder to gank, be sly or just generally shove your weight into peoples faces as it is a much more controlled experience. That being said I like anything 1v1 to 3 v 3. After that it just becomes a bit of a laggy cluster.
Had a 2 v 2 against Janook and KalelsmX today (Two actually)

Haven't played enough with Hemp_boy but not getting a win always pisses me off because of desyncs. Anyway next time kick the other guy if you don't want him.
He was very good, never heard of him but I would like to play more games with him just to see if it was a fluke.
Lol this exact same thing happened to me. Mith's friend gl-omicron does an equally annoying minion oak build. I played them with a random and mith dropped after omicron had destroyed all of our towers and still he won by just pummeling the citadel with spirits. I'm not sure how to deal with a build like that in 2 vs 2, it would be manageable with other good players in a 3 vs 3 but in 2s it's rough. Anyone else see that replay yet and have suggestions?
I hear you, always pisses me off too.
I think everyone should watch this replay, even moreso then the times we won. Even though me and renz lost, we didn't really feel bad, it was one of those "It was out of our hands moments" lol.
There was no combat situation we could really do. To try and gank oak showed what happens when one shields/tele's like crazy (Also vamp's can already be crazy hard to gank via swarm, only being killed via overcommits).
Full shield abuse no kidding. Aside from the incredible minion damage, this video really puts on the evidence towards is that, STUNS NEED TO BE ABLE TO INTERRUPT TELEPORT THROUGH A SHIELD OF WHATEVER LEVEL. Now if you don't believe so, I highly encourage you watch the video, when a player takes 0 risk.
It isn't like oak would be weak after not being able to safely teleport 100% of the time. 6 second shield is still an incredible combat helper, it just needs to prevent this kind of abuse that most players seem to love to do. I hand it to Janook for doing the build the way it is meant to but I can't help but *sigh* based off what I saw.
These past few days, I've beaten pacov and trouser pretty convincingly, defeated Kingslet and HorseStrangler twice (once very convincingly), beat Janook and Kalel convincingly twice, however against that build that Janook did I was a fish out of water. Sure minor critisms could be said about the replay like vamp should of attacked eariler but the result would been the same just delayed. If I could stun through Oak's shield the game would change quite a bit, no more of Oak running headfirst into the portal flags and resulting in someone teleporting in only to have oak teleport out.
Bit of a rant but I feel this change should happen. It just gives Oak's to much of the upperhand in portal game.
I love Janook's Oak build. I can't play it very well just because it isn't my style >> However, it's a fantastic build and I saw it when he was just making it months ago I heard about it first
I'm really looking forward to checking this out as well. I think I saw one of his initial attempts at this build awhile back. Cracked me up... about 15 minutes into the game, he said "get ready for a suprize." Then he said 3 - 2 - 1. And then proceded to pop out spirits like it was his job on an oak that he had used no spirits with before. And then he died. I'm very confident his build has developed alot and I really am looking forward to seeing what he came up with... but he cracked me up big time wiith that.
I really enjoy it when people come up with exciting new builds that people haven't maximized before. I can't even guess what he's thrown together.
His build would be 100's of time easier to kill if you could interrupt teleport through a shield. He essentially is PeterDumpTruck but using the better character. At least with Peter, since he is a vamp he stays behind a tower because his escape route isn't as guaranteed. Not with Oak though, that MF'er could blaze down the map and can escape before a threat shows itself. Shield is a damn safeguard, it shouldn't be a golden ticket. I will keep whining about this, I shall not stop lol.
I'm agree with Oaks shield/. It should be interupted TP, Healing or something else through the shield, or there's no way to kill Oak. It's kinda imba imho. I've played 2 days ago against such minion Oak build. It was Dominate on Prison 1v1 Pantheon match, and it lasts 53 minutes. Lol, never played 1v1 games on prison that lasts such a long time. At the end it was like 9800 vs. 9700 warscore points. And despite that i won the game , he got 140 favor and i'm 105. He was just spaming me with spirits and all others minions and i couldn't even catch him. He was very fast, with shield and always avoid me. That was crazy game.
Here it is : http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1194508/player/67657/
I've said this before yes this is a stupid skill, however right now it's not that good of a skill without teleport abusing. Lower its CD but get rid of the debuffing.
P.S. Winning 2vs2 when your down 4 kills is nice but is most likely just very stupid opponents.
Rook is a decent counter too since the towers are effective at getting the spirits relatively low but bad at finishing in a timely manner. He can consistently weaken them enough for big surge heals. Regardless though, you've pretty much gotta have an oak.
To be honest, the build I used in that game was not my typical build.
I was frustrated at having lost twice in a row to ThatGuy and Renz0 and figured I'd try something different. Turns out it worked.
Usually, instead of points into morale, I have points in Surge and Divine Faith, and have less minion-oriented equipment.
Also, this thread seems to have deviated from the topic. Hm.
Auroson1c - added to tier 2 list. Just watched one of the replays you posted. Competent player. I don't agree with a few of his item choices, but he showed some decent teamplay and had decent map awareness.
