Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
I'm sorry but what is the most impressive Orcun replay? Is it the one where he spams snipe on renewal reg and inevitably loses?
I think Orcun gets alot of props from many because he pugged alot and had more exposure as a result. I'm still putting him forward for tier 1, but not based on my personal experiences. I just never saw quite what many people indicate set him so far apart. Not to slight him as quite a few people think he's the bee's knees. All irrelevant if he doesn't get his butt back playing dg. This ain't the hall of fame. It's a ranking of ACTIVE players

Edit: It's mostly because he pugs a lot. He IS a good player.. but the pugging gives exposure.
I'll add what I think to that list. Haven't played with that many of them though.
Archon_SAAR - Archon is a very good and helpful player, I think he might be considered as Tier 1 perhaps.
Epiphenomenon (beast) - Epi is also a great player, a very very solid Tier 2 though.
gl_Mithrander (oak + erb) - Well he definetly is a Tier 2 but i wouldn't go as far as tier 1.
Hemp_Boy/rnz0 -I'd say Tier 2 here aswell.Jona_ (beast) - Been a long time since I played with Jona_ but I'd probably say Tier 2 here aswell.
Lordi17 (oak + erb) - Long time ago here aswell. Probably only tier 2 imo.
ThatGuyYoulove (oak) - Guy plays very good except when he does silly Oak minion builds. Not sure whether he if he is tier 1 good though.
No one's going to put replays up of themselves getting dominated by Orcun. He doesn't post them and most of the people he plays with don't either. He's a humble guy, probably going to be upset that all this fuss is being made over him. Ninki says he's on vacation in Turkey right now, I'm sure he'll be back.
Anyway this is a replay of me alter and Wong, not the best example because I was QoT and wong was reg when he really is a minion user.

Rnz, I'm more than a little bit offended that you put me in tier II, despite playing only two games with me which you may remeber ended in your defeat while the other had me -when we were teamed up- with a significant favor lead with queen. Link
P.S. I'm a regular teammate of archon so I'm a little bit biased here, but apart from some minor overaggressiveness and (too?)heavy relience on sigils he is a very good player and his Regulus is just the best I've seen.

peterdumptruck shouldnt be on that list. he rage afks and therefore doesnt belong there even if he plays well.
Those games were well over 2 months ago. I highly doubt the outcome would be the same.

And that is my issue with this, really.
On one hand, we have tier 1 is the best "10-30 players in this game" (OP). We have a numerical value for what consitutes a tier 1 player but no qualitative way of determining if someone is tier 1. Just "Are you one of the best 10-30 players?". An issue of course is that players 1,2,3 maybe close in skill but players' 1 and 28's skill level may be more distant than 28 and a tier 2 player.
Plus, in my opinion, single games don't prove anything. Best out of 9 over the course of multiple days with different demigods/maps? Sure, that proves things. But one single game "oh yeah. I beat you 2 months ago in that pug!" really don't prove anything to me at all and that's one of the reasons I loath replays. Plus who the fuck cares about 2 months ago?
Quite frankly, I really don't think 10 people qualify for tier 1 because I really just hold it in such a high opinion. Maybe five.
On that list as SINGLE PLAYERS only (no teams. Which in some ways is stupid in my opinion because this is a team game but I understand where Pacov is coming from, you can't just fall apart without your partner) the people who I would consider that are active would be Dice, Orcun, Janook. But even then, I've beaten them. Does that make me better than them? Not really :-/ I just think that Dice, Orcun just play with whoever and still manage to make it a good game. Janook less so but he is still an excellent player (he avoids playing with people he doesn't know against good players, rather. This isn't something that is to be ashamed of, that is just something that is held against you in this list) and he does a lot of premade v premade, which is more important anyway in my opinion so...
Numerically speaking, obviously some players need to be moved up. Since the criteria seems to be based on just being adaptive and knowing how to play with whoever against whatever well. Those aren't the criteria I would pick since everyone has bad days. I do prefer Krestal's tiers at the same time (they were similar to mine) but even then... people play better when on their team than otherwise which is something the OP disqualifies from this list.
Anyway, I think that the tier 2 list should, can and will swell. This just means we have good players in this game and ffs that's a good thing! Tier 1 however... :-/ I dunno if that'll ever exist except for the numerical sense.
Eg, I really don't consider myself an awesome player. However, I can beat people who are awesome players. (really don't like to brag about it though >.< don't even like typing this out honestly). However, NUMERICALLY speaking I probably would sit in the top 100 players ( I know I do according to broken stats ). Dunno about 10-30 I think that's pushing it xP
I dunno. I really just think we need a fully established definition of tier 1 because it's very sloppy and ... misdirected in my opinion.

Just had a game with Horsestrangler/obs was a slaughter fest. It was vers some premade I beleive because they asked me to open slots for their friend. Take it or leave it.

After this game my opinion was refreshed on Horse's skill, I would say for sure 2nd tier and a great candidate for 1st tier. I haven't played enough recently to make the big decision yet. Nice Rook.
Just watched your replay, you're acting as if it was you and Obscenitor vs 3 people. The beast on your team had an excellent game. He could've easily had 7 kills and he bought timely upgrades. I nominate him for tier 2.
Actually, in order for anybody to apply for the top best players award, I think they should be very well rounded in both Pantheon and Custom games, not just custom games with Pre-made teams (anybody with a consistently decent partner as an ally playing Pugs all the time can rack up wins with little effort).
They should be able to demonstrate that they can win the vast majority of games they play regardless of their team mate's skills (assuming the partner is at the very least not a feeder).
Also cow, I was in this game, saying destroyed is a bit over the top here. You guys were up 2 or 3 kills and pressing but it still would've been a long game. Plus it was 3 top level players (you, ninki and wipuliwo) vs me, hemp, and prozombe, an average player who no one's ever heard of. Hardly a reasonable game to assess hemp by, who is a dynamite player by the way.
premade teams playing only custom games CANNOT be in tier 1. So says pacov. You earn your stripes in pugs.
Its not insanely hard for me to stack a premade team and win all the time.
@lifekatanaMan I am sorry you feel that way, but I based my list from many match experiences, its nothing personal and I stand by what I've picked. I've played plenty of matches with/against you, and the main reason I put you in tier 2 was because most games I've played with/against you at one point when you feel unsure about the game you will start whining about whatnot which is demoralizing for any team. IMO Tier 1 is all about being innovative and shining out, and fighting against the worst odds.P.S. Compliments on winning against me in that one game.

I don't really see the value of pantheon games... They're just a means to pad your win record and pass time between competitive games when it comes down to it.

Many match experiences? Seriously? We only played like I don't know 2 times... which I both won. So all of this is just some hypothetical situation where you actually played me.
If you consider whining getting stuck with noobs(ie yeti sedna noobs, or plate guard, you know THOSE kind of noobs) then getting pissed of/leaving then yes. I like the fighting against bad odds just as the next player, but there's a difference between bad odds and yeti sedna odds. I have a life outside of this game and my time is not unlimited so yes I sometimes leave these super stacked games against me to have time to play games with friends(Which I in contrast to many many players around here actually balance, and I don't mind sitting in the other team). Nonetheless you NEVER played such a game with me. Regardless playing with yeti sednas to proof how heroically good you are is not a requirement for being good.
But if playing with bad odds was an actual requirement lets just check your stats, the inconsequent bastard you are. The game where I won against you, YOU RAGEQUITTED YOUR OWN TEAM. You say I am the leaver here while you almost never played me and when you did YOU LEFT. And that game wasen't even so bad for you. For instance you insulted your UB Auroson(who should be in tier II atleast) for allegdely dieing not getting bots(he got BotS and used it brilliantly) and pretty much everytime you blamed auroson for losing the game. Auroson did not die ONCE, he DOMINATED his lane, was able to push us all out with mass spitting and got lots of kills. You AS EREBUS died multiple times, was generally not even close as usefull as Auroson.
P.S. Lol. That was just a stupid PUG, not me defeating your awesome skillzorz.
Exactly how I see many custom matches, as you can pick and choose who you want on your team based on win %. You can't choose your team mate in Pantheon.
I find the amount of rage over a small objective list made in a forum funny.

I know we are friends and all, but a tier one character is someone who when I go into a lobby, I know they will be menancing. I don't really get that vibe from you. You are a good player but to be in the best tier? Nah.

Screw that, I played with pugs all the time in pantheon in epoch 1 and 2. I'm done with that crap/headaches over weak plays and no aggression. I only seek out high level players rather then randoms.
Also a side note. Orcun is the best dog in the game, if he isn't guaranteed a spot in tier one that this list is a joke.
Now thatguy and me again played 2 matches which he both won. However the first was me with Demon Assasin when DA was just released and had me with the inferior team. He got 2 kills of some noob in early game and the rest had him walking around with 7k+ and sigils which made it kinda hard for me as DA to do anything. The second game had me in PUB game(with a guy with less than 40 games) against my own premade and Thatguy. May I also add that this obviously imbalanced game was actually launched because thatguy constantly whined and just refused to play in a team without two good players(which would be fair since then it would be 2 good platyers and a medium vs 2 good players and a medium. So yeah. But it's better than Renz because you actually won.
tl;dr play me with you know even odds where I don't have to carry a team of noobs with DA.
