Why create this thread?
Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho. It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are. That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category. So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out. Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other. So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.
Your part if you want to participate
Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today? I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc). I'm happy to have everyone's feedback. I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight. Perhaps we'll get games going. You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.
You can nominate anyone you want. To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list. If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.
I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each. Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.
Tier 1 Demigod Players:
Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well. They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5. These are players that do not cheat or desync games. These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game. Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.
Tier 2 Demigod Players:
These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same. Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2). The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.
Tier 3 Demigod Players:
A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...
Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:
These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat. You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.
Bad_Wong does the same as alienwarrior today i joined his 1on1 prison game beat him quickly and the game never showed up however u would have to take my word for it since i dont have any way of proving this
He always abuses pantheon so he can be top in the ladder.
but how? playing panth alot is not abuse imo. He DID abuse with the AI shite before... but if he's playing solely panth because that's what he likes, then I have no issue with it. Even if it means he goes high on the ladder.
I've played about 20 games in Pantheon yesterday, and only 15 of them were counted in stats. Thing that i've mentioned is when U're playing 1v1 games and U're not host, it's enough (for host) just to leave the game with alt+f4 or F10>End game , to make this game not couted in stats. And the game always counted when host player make F10>concede. I'm not practicing such bug/exploit, just for those who think that if some game wasn't counted in stats - he is guilty for sure.
About the list:
I can't see anybody I directly disagree with being there atm. I haven't played with all though but those I have played with on that list deserves their places imo.
Also, pushing back my modesty, Archon nominated me to be on that list and I think I should be there too...
Added Esuzu to tier 2 list. Just fyi - I'm not intentionally excluding anyone from the tier 2 list. If you were nominated and aren't on this list, its simply because I missed you.
Auroson1c - believe me, I know what you mean. Because of how rediculously simple it is to exploit stats in 1v1 and even 2v2, accusing everyone of being a cheat if a game doesn't show up is a bit silly. My general policy is to confront individuals directly, educate them that they are stat exploiting (giving them the benefit of the doubt that its unintentional), and then requesting that they knock it off. Reviewing their stats or a game with them in the future typically reveals if they are still stat exploiting. And if so, it's relatively clear that its intentional.
Nice list but what makes me think is that only a handful of the mentioned guys I have ever seen playing pantheon.
In my eyes especially pantheon shows skilled players as they have to play with whomever they are put together with. No teamspeak or any tactics trained in premade games with mates. If you can play demigod is shown here. I saw players who managed to win a 3on3 game with 2 leavers meaning 2 AI controlled, money delivering guys to the other team while the other team wasn´t that bad......so here comes skill into play....
Btw the guy mentioned winning the game was TBxVividos, playing a great Oak !
Additional voting for a very good demon assassin player: jteddymd_guest
...and for a fine Rook: gohgoh
Actually Pacov this is even getting worse. This puts people in groups much more than an "elite"list.
Instead of cutting people, let players show if they're good. Because it's now like the lists gets bigger and bigger while there's no indication that any of them are actually good. If they're good, they should have a reccomendation of top players that "are generally considered good" and maybe a replay and/or some way to show their skill. You shouldn't be writing every guy up that's suggested by the average forum goer (me included).
Yes and no... I actually personally go to panth games when I'm looking for a less competitive, more laid back game. You're right that, with the exception of people trying to join the panth with their buddies, you have to play with whoever you get, but its hardly matchmaking based on skill. Its just luck of the draw.
@katana - I'll use some discretion regarding the tier 2 list.
Don't you wish that you had a worthwhile matchmaking and ranking system? Wouldn't need a 300+ post for this if you did. =P
I know. It is easy to miss things when there are 1 new page to read every day
hehe. But of course. But demigod is what you make of it. So much fun... so much pain. Looking forward to seeing what the next patch brings.
I would like to nominate a few people to the tier 1 list. These people should be discussed before induction.
Orcun imo is one of the best.
Just played a game recently with NinkiCZ he is an excellant player.
I would also like to add Star Wars Episode 1 sound track to the tier 1 list because it has blown my mind the last 3 days.
lol Soundtrack seconded.
Haven't played with Orcun like I said, but NinkiCZ is a good player although from experience I haven't seen him play a varied repetoire mostly(or solely) UB.
Think we should make replays a requirement for induction to tier 1? And the replay being not just rolling over a so-so group of pugs. Not sure if that's pushing it or not. Regarding Orcun, I mentioned earlier that my only direct experience with him was against him, and in those 4-8 games we broke about even in victories. Enough people that I consider excellent think he belongs in the tier 1 list, so I really don't oppose.
I'm not sure about ninkiCZ. I'll have to look through my games. I'm not entirely sure I've played with him much off the top of my head. If he's limited to being exceptional with just 1 dg, then I don't think tier 1 is the place for him. And that's not to say that he is limited to 1, I just don't really know from experience, so no offense meant... just going by lifekatana's comment.
I was thinking about Sakke and EskaConti as well. Hedgie considered them to be tier 1 (under a different definition). I'd say those 2 fit well in tier 2. They are great as 2 man team (one of the best imo - so long as you keep playing with them), but their strength lies in their 2 man team and adpativeness. As individual players, they are no where near as strong and their strategy isn't anywhere near as effective, imo.
Again I'd like to point out that placing people in "tier II" is well... offensive. What you first had with the list was elitist sure and it became silly quick. But this is almost looking like a caste system.
I'm very much for making replays mandatory, maybe for every demigod you claim to be good with you have to add a replay?(although that would get tedious quick with us random players;-)) Maybe some other requirement. Like good play for one tier I, and two "others"(since theirs no universally agreed apon tier system apart from tier I).
P.S. I really want to play with/against you Pacov, seeing you're a noobhelping decent nice etc player.
I've been hosting and joining games as a pug all this week. I'll probably host some more games tonight. I'd enjoy playing with/against you.
Regarding considering being in tier 2 offensive... well, I don't take it that way. Even if I am in tier 2, to me, that just makes we want to work harder to improve my game and get more competitive. I kind of get what you are saying. But even in tier 2, people are still being recognized above and beyond other players and some will simply be elevated higher to tier 1.
I think we're in different time zones... I'm in europe.
To me it reeks like trying to rank people without clear evidence(ie working stats).
Well I will be sure to grab replays from now on.
Would be nice to post a claim of some person with replay.
I tend to agree. Really impressed with someone's gameplay? Post the game on game replays and provide a link here along with what's so great about so and so.
I'll start with some proving. This replay is a game where every player is on that list I think. I think most does rather well and definitely deserves to be in the list.
Thanks, Esuzu! Looking forward to watching this later tonight.
Can I post myself with a replay?
Of course, why wouldn't you be able to?
