Its us again! Here to bring you yet another exciting community topic!!!!
This topic is dedicated to any stories, lore, epic poems, novels, Role Playing...anything your heart desires to share!!!
We are always up for a good read and are excited to see what you all create from DS.
We will be featuring hopefully some neat post in this orginal post every so often. Maybe be something we liked or we though it need attention! So, aim your Ogrov at that writers block and get your fingers typing!
There aren't any rules, but we do have some guidelines to follow so that we all can participate and enjoy ourselves.-There is really no limit on what you post just as long as it is Distant Stars related.-Most members are participating in a single large story with the occasional side story or two. While this thread is certainly not limited to just that story, for the benefit of all readers and participants, please begin your post with how we're supposed to handle it. (Personal Story) (DS RP) (Trader Space) Examples of this can be found all throughout the thread or by looking at this post. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/21/#2596003 This will help us all out by letting us know if you're trying to set yourself up to join the main lore, if you plan on just telling your own story, or if you're just writing lullabies for children to sing before they go to bed.-While we don't expect you to 'Play the game' in your stories, we do ask that you keep any liberties that you take be grounded within the game. For example: Talking about your space marines invading another ship is not something the game covers, so feel free to be inventive on how it would happen. However, carrying point singularity rifles that open up little black holes is beyond the scope of the game and will not be allowed. Soldiers with phasic armor that prevents them from being wounded let alone even being hit, while being relevant to the technology in the game would also not be allowed. The point is to be fair to the other people. We encourage you to ask yourselves, would this work in the game, and how would I feel if someone used this on me? If You feel strongly that it would work and you'd be okay with it being used against you, then by all means, use it. Fantasy posting, dream sequences, and April Fool's postings are of course, immune from this guideline.-We highly encourage you to message other members for help or advice. There is a TeamSpeak channel that is frequently used by the regulars to talk issues out or just shoot the breeze behind the scenes. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of these resources. Also, 'regulars' may send you messages with suggestions, concerns, or advice. It's nothing personal, so please do not be offended, they're just trying to help keep the lore consistent within these guidelines. If there's any doubt at all about anything, just message one of the people who you see posting a lot. If they don't know, they'll pass your message along to someone who does or tell you who you need to talk to.-It is also highly recommended that you message other RPers before posting anything involving their stuff. If you don't, you're likely going to find all of DS rising up against you.-In an effort to reduce clutter, we're asking that Out Of Character (OOC) commenting be either sent to the individual for whom it is intended by using the private message feature, or take it to another thread. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/366762 is a thread frequented by many of the lore writers and random comment posting about anything under the sun is highly encouraged there as well in an attempt to get the thread locked. Enjoy.

Some resources that we have spent hours, days, and weeks working on that will help out all participants in this thread. We ask that you look through these to help you better understand the region.-About Distant Stars- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/11/#2532381This post will give you a lot of basic information on what the region of space is like, how to get there, and who is there waiting for you.-Distant Stars Maps- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/23/#2604760This post provides you with a quick look at the region and provides you with a download link where you can get yourself a copy of the posted maps in their unreduced forms. They're very helpful when trying to figure out where to go and who you're likely going to run into when you get there. Maps of individual systems are posted throughout the thread. They're generally posted by the first person to explore the system. If you don't know if a system has been explored or not or want to see a map of a system that has been explored, ask around via PM or TeamSpeak. Someone will point you to the place.-Character Biographies- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/11/#2532380This post is a general collection of the main RP characters whom you will likely have contact with. We ask that all people posting in the main lore post their main character(s) bio as soon as possible so that the rest of us have a little background on who your character is, how they like to fight, where do they come from, and why they're there. Read the existing bios for examples on what we're looking for.

Alexander enters the bridge, Frishman rising from his seat to allow the admiral to take his proper place.
"Alright, have Red Fleet move to Alpha Eras and begin the journey to the Portage Star," he commands.
"Sir, we haven't heard from Paragon Carbon," Lieutenant Gross replies.
"I understand, but there's a fair distance between the stars and time is a factor. The longer a military planet has to build up, the harder it is to bring down," Alexander says.
Frishman interjects, "It will take a while, but Carbon will have to reply soon if he's to join the fight. We do have to go over the formations necessary."
"I understand, but we go with or without them. Make arrangements for either situation."
"Yes, sir," Frishman replies before workng over data on his work station. The communications officer engages in activity just the same, relaying orders to the other vessels. Soon Captain Aronoff breaks away, aiming for the edge of the gravity well. The five Kols, two Sovas, and the Akkan of Red Fleet make for the Vasari gate and soon on to the star for their long jump. The remaining Red Fleet form up with Blue Fleet. Green Fleet remains at Eras VII, welcoming the Vasari techs sent by J'rah to work on the gate in hopes of cutting it off from outside use. Green Fleet organizes the construction of defensive structures, hoping they suffice if anything should happen in their coming absence.

The dreams and visions are random flashes that made no sense. Ryat bounced from one scene to the next, sometimes hearing half words, other times static, and occasionally nothing. Suddenly it crystallized around two figures. One was a tall woman dressed as a High Psintegrat and another dressed in a black hood robe their face concealed. The Renegade must not ally with the Pirate Lord, said the High Psintegrat to the robed one. Then Ryat woke up. He was still on the floor, breathing hard and sweating profusely. His head felt clear, though those words still rang in it. He got up and looked around. The intel reports on the Collective still lay on the floor so he cleaned it up. A beep came from his comm. "Yes?" he answered, mildly suprised that his voice was steady. "My lord, Lord J'rah wishes to know when you will be arriving to witness the test fire," came the response. Ryat cursed silently as he remembered about that event. "Okay, thank you," he said, "please gather my staff at the shuttle bay, include Rear Admiral Lorso please. "Yes My Lord," and the comm shut off. Ryat went off to the head to begin preparing for the day. The trip from Phoenix to J'kartha was uneventful. Usyma was willing to sit next to Ryat. He whispered an apology to her to which she patted his hand and said that they would talk later. She held his hand to let him know that everything was good though. On board J'karha and after the usual welcoming ceremonies, Lord Ryat, Lord J'rah, and Xenon, with their staffs at hand, gathered in the Flag bridge. Lord J'rah was explaining what he had planned. "What we have targeted is a small moon-sized barren planet of Portage V," Lord J'rah said as he pointed it out on the holomap. "The Kris Slavers have made attempts to fortify it and have a few missile platforms and a moderate starbase with a small fleet. We feel its makes an excellent test target." "It does," Lord Ryat agreed, "What do you have for observers?" "We keep a steady stream of probes there at all times," replied Lord J'rah, "A fresh one was left yesterday. It should last for about 2 weeks. We also have four scouts at the ready, two here and two in Portage VII to test out the temporary phase line effect." "I wish we had an Advent planet to target," Xenon grumbled, his mechanical eye showing a baleful red. Lord Ryat smiled. "Patience my friend," he said, "If this works, our next target will be Advent." "Good," Xenon said, "Getting tired of waiting." A Vasari officer arrived in the Flag bridge. "My Lordssssss," he said in Basic for all to understand, "The White Kostura Cannon is targeted and ready to fire." "Send the signal to fire," Lord J'rah said. The Vasari officer bowed and left to carry out the order. The Central Commander on the Kostura Cannon was a buzz of activity as technicians made last minute corrections and tests. The commanding officer looked over it all in silents waiting. His comm officer approached. "We have orders to fire Sir," he reported. "Fire when ready," the commanding officer ordered. The Kostura Cannon developed a brilliant white light at the end of its barrel before releasing a massive blast that tore through both normal and phase space alike. Ripples were registered on all the phase monitors as the bolt of energy hurtled towards Portage V. It shattered the gravwell barrier as it smashed through it and into the small moon. Gravitonic forces erupted in the system, causing the planet to shatter into many pieces. Dust particles, and the planet remains were ionized creating a massive plasma storm. Ships and orbital strucutres were warped then ripped apart by the now conflicting gravitonic forces. This all happened in under three seconds before the forces smashed into the probe that was watching it all. Only static appeared on the recieving screen in the Flag Bridge room. Everyone was silent. Then Xenon spoke. "Where'sssss the Ka-Boom," he said in a comical voice, "There'ssss sssssupossssed to be a planet sssssssssshhhhhhhhattering Ka-Boom." Most of the humans laughed at the comment. The Vasari looked confused. "You realize that there is nothing to provide for sound in space to allow for a boom Xenon," said Lord J'rah. "He's quoting a cartoon character," Lord Ryat said. "Oh," Lord J'rah said, "What cartoon character is that stupid." "Well....um," Lord Ryat paused, "Vernon the Vasari." The Vasari's face was unreadable for a moment, then laughed. "You must show me this cartoon character as soon as possible Lord Ryat," he said, "I am always curious as to what you humans assume to think of us." "My lord, the sssscoutss are in possition," said one of Lord J'rah's officers. "Good, tell them to jump out," he ordered, "and have someone analyze the information received by the probe." Minutes passed as most of the officers made small talk amoungst themselves. "My lord?" an officer said, "the scouts have jumped out but they don't seem to show up on the PSIDAR." "Which ones?" Xenon asked, "The ones for the temporary phase node?" "No sir," she replied, "Neither group shows up." "Did they jump out okay?" Lord Ryat. "Yes My Lord," she answered, "they jumped out just fine and then after a minute or so they vanished. I ran some test to make sure it wasn't my monitors having the issue." "Odd," said Lord J'rah. "Indeed," said Xenon. Sirs, the scouts are reporting that they have entered Portage V," another officer reported, "we are getting a lot of static from them though over the phase comm lines." "Interesting," said Lord Ryat, "wonder why this is all happening." "I think I can explain it My Lord," said a Vasari officer, "Apperently the gravitonic forces cause massive disruptions to phase space as well as normal space. This makes any phase detection equipment useless though a ship can still navigate the lanes. In a sense there is too much noise to see the ships rendering them invisible." "So, it makes a plasma storm, crushes all ships and structures into dust, destroyes the planet and makes any entering and I'm assuming exiting ships invisible to phase detection equipement," Lord Ryat summeraized, "Nasty." "Actually, the only reason why it destroyed the planet was due to its size, My Lord" corrected the Vasari officer, "A bigger planet would survive and after a while make the plasma storm disappear." "Still nasty," said Xenon, "So now what." "Now, we begin to figure out the best way to hit the Advent with this thing and steal the other artifact," said Lord Ryat. "I was hoping you would say that," Xenon said, his red eye again glowing brightly.

(A trio of stories with a twist! D/S--ish, Enjoy!)
-Cordinates 004.001.0010. Sector - AFD
Several large starbases uncloaked in the center of the Distant Stars system. Each one of the star bases have a gray color to them and a sphere like shape. At first they seem to just sit there doing nothing untill a large triangular mother ship uncloaked just above the sphere like starbases. A series of light pulses were transmitted from starbase to starbase and instantly each one began to move towards different sectors in Distant Stars. When ever the starbases would encounter a ship, they would immediately open fire. Most of the time the innocent ships were caught unawares being bombarded by space cheese. Not just any space cheese, the bad type of space cheese which penetrated shields and stuck onto the hulls. The odor of the cheese would find its way into the life support systems and distribute it ship wide. Any crew that breathed it in would gag at the smell and stumble around trying to find any way to escape but to no avail. "Sir our ship has been hit.....by...cheese???" said one crew member confused. "Return fire!...wait.....did you say cheese!?" replied the captain. "Sir!...*cough cough* something ....*gag*.....something is wrong with the....oh my...*vomits*....the...smell!....dear..g-" The com was cut off before the crew member could finish. "Report! whats going on in the engineering room! report!" The captain tried to get a response but to no avail. Soon, he too would begin to smell the space cheese. "Oh what is that smell....its...terrible..." Covering his nose he tried to escape the smell but couldnt find a place on the ship that wasnt already engulfed by the stench. All ship wide the crew were scrambling around desperate, a distress signal was put out but it consisted of mostly gagging and repeated vomiting. shortly after the transmission, the entire ship exploaded from all the cheese. ------------------------------------------- Out across the system on a planet name Tara. Pulling up the drive way in her hover car a woman would step out, her heels clicked on the pavement as she headed towards the door to her hope. Scanning her thumb the door swung open and she entered. Tossing her purse onto the counter, she picked up the mail browsing through them one by one. Looking up when she heard a slight noise upstairs. Putting down the mail, she slowly crept her way up to the first door. Nudging the door open she took a step back and gasped in shock at what she saw. "How...how could you! I cant believe you'd betray me like this! I thought you loved me!" she shouted running down stairs in tears. Following quickly behind her was her husband. "Honey, wait! I can explain! Please just let me explain, this isnt what it looks like here." "Oh yeah!? What does it look like then? What is it suppose to be then? Because all I saw was you ....and ....I..I..I just cant believe it..." She started to grab stuff around her, tossing them at her husband. Her husband ducked from the vase, dodged left to avoid the ashtray, dodged right to avoid the cat, dodged right again to avoid a sandwhich and dodged one last time to avoid a pair of bunnies. "Sweety, I....im sorry....I didnt know what got over me....One thing led to another....and...." her husband tried to explain trying to calm his wife. "I cant believe you would play Endless Fantasy 63 with our Game Station Bot without me!" replied the upset wife. "Look...I didn't even level that far past you honey..." As he said that, his wife would slap him across the face. "Thats not even the point! You betrayed the most sacred of oath two people can take....when gaming together.." She looked towards the stairs as the GSBot walked down towards them. ~Please dont over react, he didnt play with me that much today. The game had this rare item he had to get.~ explained the GSbot. "You!...I thought I could trust you!....Be honest with me...how many hours past me has he logged in on you..." She asked the GSBot. Hesitating a bit the bot replied. ~Fourt- ~ "Wait dont tell her." Her husband tried to interrupt. ~It was fourty hours past your logged hours.~ The bot answered, ashamed that it let the husband log that many hours on it. The wife broke into more tears upon hearing how many hours her husband has been playing the game behind her back. She reached into her bag and pulled out a game pad, tossing it at her husband before she stormed out of the house. Her husband standing there silent holding the game pad she had just tossed at him. "I dont know what to do now....I dont know what to even say..." said the husband. Picking up his game pad, he turned towards the GSbot. "Oh well...lets continue where we left off before my wife got home" ~Ummm okay I suppose, booting up the save file...transmitting the game data to the tv screen now~ said the GSbot, The husband continued to play Endless Fantasy 63. ~You do know your wife has been cheating on you with your FPS squad mate~ informed the GSbot. The husband blinked for a moment and turned to the bot, shocked at what he just heard. "She what???"
(Click for effect) (FYI, The wife was very do-able.)------------------------------------------------ Out near a distant planet lies a massive space port connecting to a very popular ship building colony. The port was most popular for large non-militia interstellar capital ships. The port was massive and received a high volume of trade traffic and was the place to be if ships wanted new upgrades and high quality repairs. On the main docking bay rests a glistening new capital ship, complete with the most advance Mark X anti-matter drives, the fastest interstellar engines money could afford. The shield generators were military grade, which is rare for a civillian class vessel. The entire hull were reinforced with an experimental form of metal called the Adamtanium which is suppose to give the entire ship a maximum of 200% integrity with very little negative resistance during phase travel. The phase drive processors have been adapted from racer frigates, which allow the ship to go from a standstill into phase space in less than .05 nano seconds. The interior of the ship was built as if it were to become a 25 star hotel. Crew quarters were large enough to raise a family in. Recreational rooms were abundant, equiped with the capabilities to satisfy anyones recreational needs no matter how bizzare. The bridge of the ship is where most would consider a technical masterpiece. Most of the interfaces are neural which gave the crew operating specific stations instant access. The bridge is entirely reinforced and can detach and operate as a small craft if the capital ship itself were to destroyed, which it probally wont. The bridge floor is entirely layed in carpet and the seats for each station on the bridge is of the finest leather. Oh, and the captains chair has 7 different modes of massage capabilities. Thats important too. The captain for the ship walked off the elevator and onto the bridge. Taking in a deep breath, he would smile admiring the beauty of the bridge. Walking over to his captains chair running his hand across the metallic console before sitting down and taking a sip of his coffee. "Ah...the seat is just perfect...exactly what I wanted." Relaxing nicely in his captains chair. "Captain, all crew have reported to their stations. All systems are green and we have been given permission to undock" said the crew member. "Excellent, start up the engines nice and slow" replied the captain. "Engines warming up sir, currently at 80%....90%.....100%, Shall I release the docking clamps and take her out? " asked the pilot of the ship. Loving the gentle hum of brand new engines the captain would activated his master control panel. "Not necessary, transfer the pilot controls of the ship over to me and i'll take the ship out on its maiden flight. "Uh...okay, yes sir...controls have been transfered to your console. She is all yours." said the pilot. Giving his arms a stretch and cracking his fingers, the captain sat up in the seat placing his fingers over the pilot control panels on his arm rests. The neural interface activating as it connected with captains nerve endings in his fingers. A loud thud could be heard as each docking clamp released one by one. Once all the clamps were off the captain kicked in the engine drive and set it off at 10% speed. Unfortunately the ship didnt move foward at all as the engine promptly moved the ship backwards slamming the back end into the noses of several police patrol ships that had been docked behind them to refuel. The engine exaust giving the patrol ships each a nice dark char . "Son of a - !!" Exclaimed the captain.--------------------------------------------------------- With a click of a remote the hologram TV would turn off. Standing and stretching the arms and legs, tossing aside the remote. The phone would ring, answering you hear the following - ~It's April Fools Day!~ (Click for Effect)
Lol this stuff kind of confused me, as in why you had chosen to put it their, until I realised the date!
I thought that the reference to that couple splitting up over a video game was funny.
Yes Draak, Very very doable. Take what you want in a girl, then add a controller. That'd be her

"Vivid Memories"-----------------------------------------~20 Years Ago........ With a fast pace, A young Setsuan headed down a long corridor dressed in formal military uniform. His shoes clinked with every step on the metallic floors, soon his fast paced walking became a full out sprint towards a pair of automated doors. Sliding to a stop just as he reached the doors, he quickly straightened out his uniform and entered the room. It was full of military officials from TEC and officials from Setsuna's home world, huddled around a stellar grid with several blue icons and a swarm of red icons. The topic of discussion was how to repel a Vasari fleet that is closing in on Setsuna's home world. Setsuna was late for the meeting, his father clearly upset passing him a angry glare before returning his attention to the TEC fleet commanders that have come to offer their aid to defend Meiji and its sister planets in return for exclusive trading rights in the system. Setsuna quickly rose in the ranks in the military academy to become captain of his first ship "The Linx". Having dealt with only simulated battles prior, this will be his first real encounter against a new enemy. Quietly heading over to the area of the room where all of the captains stood, he moved to his place bumping into the person next to him accidently. "Sorry." whispered Setsuna. "Hey, no problem. Overslept and rushed on over here?" said Carbon with a slight smirk. "Sort of." replied Setsuna. "Ha, you know your wearing different colored socks by the way, thats a punishable offense." said Carbon with a slight chuckle. "Carbon, lay off of him" said Miyuki as she elbowed Carbon hard in the ribs. "Oww, geeze alright already...you know I think I suffered several broken ribs from you always jabbing me there." Rubbing his side from where Miyuki had just hit him.
"Just be glad I dont aim lower." replied Miyuki.
"Touche." said Carbon. Setsuna trying to refrain from laughing. Miyuki and Carbon had been friends for a while now, she served as his second in command ever since Carbon became captain. Only recently has she been promoted and received her very own ship called the "Juniper", a newly built Sova Carrier. Carbon on the other hand has a ship which has seen multiple battles, an Akkan Battlecruiser named the "Event Horizon." After the commanders finished finalizing their plans, they turn their attention towards the captains who all stood straight in unison prepared to receive their orders. A TEC admiral stepped up towards the line of captains prepared to give a speech. During this operation the admiral was given full command of all ships from TEC plus those from Meiji. "You are all here together as a unified force in the fight against a scourge that is encroaching on the Trinity System. The government of Meiji has requested the aid of TEC forces to fight along side their fleet against the Vasari." said the Admiral, pacing slowing back and forth as he continued his speech. "Look to your left and then to your right...you will protect them and they will protect you. You will all fight together as a cohesive single unit, much like the Spartans in that ancient classical movie you've all seen. You will fight together and you will win. Understood?" "Yes Sir!" Shouted the captains, saluting just before they were dismissed and filed out of the briefing room. Everyone went about their own way, Setsuna headed out towards the local bar on the TEC starbase where all ship captains are stationed at. Going straight to the bartender ordering up a couple of drinks, he headed over to a empty table with a view of his home planet just below the starbase. Setsuna was taking a drink when he was jabbed in the side causing him to cough up his drink. *Cough cough cough* "Hey what the f--" Setsuna was interrupted by a giggling Miyuki, sitting down infront of him with Carbon pulling up a chair to sit as well. "Hey there, sorry about this guy here before, he just likes to pick on random people." said Miyuki gaving Carbon a punch in the arm. "Heh, its no problem...so im guessing since I dont remember you at the academy, you two must be from TEC?" asked Setsuna finishing his first drink setting the glass down. "I've been captain for quite some time now and this jab friendly girl here has been a captain for about a year." replied Carbon. Signalling the waitress for three beers. Miyuki realized she had forgotten to introduce herself and carbon. "I'm so sorry!!, I totally forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm Miyuki and this is Carbon." said Miyuki with a bright smile. "The name is Setsuna, nice to meet you two." raising a glass to them before taking another drink. "Wait...Setsuna? Aikawa Setsuna? Your the son of the leader of the Trinity System." Grabbing the bottle of beer handed to her by the waitress. *Sigh* "Yes, thats me..." Setsuna seemed to despise always being associated as such. "I figure someone in your position would be off somewhere on your planet doing some political thingy and not up and out here on the front lines" asked Carbon, downing his first beer already and ordering up another one. "Look, when you grow up in a world where everything is just handed to you sometimes, no one will know you for your achievments and know you only as who your father was. I was sick of that and wanted to do something about it." said Setsuna glancing out the window to the view of his planet. "Haha, your not alone in trying to make something new with themselves. Personally my parents are both scholars and joining the military was the last thing they wanted their precious little daughter to be doing" Miyuki pushed a few stray strands of hair from her face, tucking them behind her ear. "Carbon over here has plans to be paragon some day." Poking Carbon. "Thats right, first you get the power, then you get the ladies." said Carbon proudly, looking over to the bar where two young cadets were chatting, giving them a drink. "Looks like we are all pretty ambitious." said Setsuna with a smirk finishing his second drink. "Wait, I have a quick question....remember when the admiral mentioned how we are suppose to fight like those spartans in that classic film....well...if I remember correctly...didn't they all die???" asked Carbon. "Ummm....yeah...lets not think about that" said in unison by Miyuki and Setsuna. It didnt take long for the trio to become close friends in the following weeks. Carbon eventually suggested to Setsuna and Miyuki to start dating since the two had been flirting with each other often. Setsuna and Miyuki grew closer while Carbon continued to date and flirt with several female cadets and female aliens. While not on their personal time, they had been prepping their crew and running simulated battles waiting for the enemy. Preperations were mostly complete and defense turrets were all on line just within days before the arrival of the Vasari fleet. The red aleart signal sounded across the whole starbase causing everyone to scramble to their stations and respective ships. ~Red Alert! Red Alert! Incomming Vasari ships! All crew report to your ships and prepare to engage!~ Miyuki, Carbon and Setsuna were the first to undock their ships and move into formation to engage the enemy. While everyone had been training for this very moment, they werent prepared when several Vasari capital ships had been spotted behind their defensive lines and closing in fast. As a result, the Phalanx formation was useless. Several ships were late to undock and some were confused due to the early arrival of the Vasari. Three Kortul Devastator ships were first to come within range of the first few Kol Battleships, they immediately exchanged fire with more Kol Battleships moving in to engage. The gauss cannons on the Kol Battleships fired salvo after salvo into the shields of the Vasari Devastators. Their shields fluctuating against the onslaught of TEC weapons fire and weapons fire of ships from Meiji. It didnt take too long before the Vasari shields flickered red before collapsing entirely. Once their shields failed, the gauss rounds easily punched through the weakened hull of the Devastators destroying them. The unified fleet celebrated at the destruction of three Vasari capital ships but that celebration was short lived when several Disruptor beams hit two front leading Kol ships overloading their antimatter reserves causing a system wide shut down leaving them powerless. The disruptor attack was quickly followed by several beam weapons fire which did considerable damage but was saved only by the quick manuvering of Carbon and his Akkan, the "Event Horizon" to shield the Kol ship from further hits. The "Event Horizon" immedately returned fire with its laser cannons across the next wave of incomming Kortul Devastators. The rest of the TEC fleet moved into the frontlines making the total number of capital ships now to 20, some of them breaking formation to engage clusters of Vasari ships approaching from different vectors. The "Linx" moved to flank two Devastators currently occupied exchaning fire with 3 Kol Battleships. "Arm all weapons! Focus your fire on the closest Vasari ship." said Setsuna as he reviewed the data feed he was receiving on battle conditions. "Yes sir, preparing to fire all weapons sir" replied the weapons operation crew member. The "Linx" two foward plasma cannons fired consecutive bursts onto the port side of one of the Devastators, its shields rippled against the hit. A volley a missles launched from the "Linx" managed to cause enough damage to the shields for it to fail. The combined cannon fire from the three Kol Battleships made short work of the shieldless Devastator. The second Devastator in the engagement moved to retreat now that it was out numbered four to one, but it wouldnt get too far before a hail of missles rained down onto the ship stopping it dead. The "Juniper" captained by Miyuki fired several flak rounds into the bridge of the now disabled Devastator as it passed close by, quickly moving away just before the Devastator exploaded into scrap. "Haha, take that you bastards. These guys are no match for all of us" said triumpantly by Miyuki as she was setting up a vid com with the "Event Horizon" and "Linx" on screen. "Hey you two, I've bagged three so far, what about you two?" "Two here." replied Carbon. "One so far for me." replied Setsuna. The "Linx" manuvering to take on the a Jarrasul with two Kol battleships. Before the "Linx" or either Kol ships could fire, they had unknowingly flown into a blob of nano-disassemblers that immediately began to eat away on their hull. "Captain! We are receiving ship wide reports of hull integrity failure!" relayed a crew member. "How is that possible! Our shields are up and we havent taken any weapons fire yet!" said Setsuna, checking his scanners to find the reason. "Looks like nanites from the Vasari mothership, they seemed to have mined the area just ahead of them full of nano-disassemblers." said defense operations crewmember. "Damn it, alright get a crew together and go to engineering and work with them to figure a way to get these things off of us quickly." ordered Setsuna just before he turned his attention to an incomming weapons fire alert. Before the "Linx" could react, it was hit by a Gravity Warhead damaging the ships engine drives and anti-matter reactors. The two Kol ships near by providing the "Linx" with support suffered the same fate. "Engineering here! We have no propulsion and our anti-matter reactors have been completly put out of sync." reported the engineering crew member as sounds of minor explosions occur in the background. "Captain, its about to get alot worse for us!" said the defense crew member bringing to the captains attention four Skirantra Carriers sending a full contingency of strike squadrons. "Alright, we may not have engines but we still have our weapons so lets not give up just yet." said Setsuna. Turning towards his com officer. "Send a message and request for squadron support immediately." "Immediately sir." replied the com officer. "Captain, we have a solution for the nano disassemblers, but you might not like it." said the engineering officer. "What is it?" said Setsuna. "We need to polarize our hull to short circuit those nanites. To do so, we will need to covert energy from our shield converters which will drastically weaken our shields." explained the engineering officer. Setsuna sighed weighing the options, should he risk reducing his shield strength or risk having multiple hull breaches from the nano disassemblers. Once a hull breach was detected he knew what he had to do and gave the engineers the go ahead to polarize the hull. The shield strength started to drop drastically as a surge built up in the shield generators. In a brief flash the energy was released spreading over the hull of the ship burning off the nano-disassemblers ship wide. One of the two Kol ships also dealing with the nano-disassemblers was not as lucky. It's shields had started to fail due to the nanites eating its way into the generators. At that time the strike squadrons were already ontop of them like a swarm of wasps dealing ship wide damage. To make matters worse, another Devastator was approaching with the support of several skirmishers. "Setsuna, were on our way" said Carbon, the "Event Horizon" approaching fast along with the "Juniper". "Glad to hear that, we got several more targets comming in on us and we already have our hands full with that Vasari mothership and these pesky strike squadrons" replied Setsuna. "Dont worry, you know we always have your back. Let me take care of those annoying strike crafts." responded Miyuki. Her ship "Juniper" just so happens to be a Sova Carrier and her own strike squadrons are the best around. Her squadrons quickly launched and drew the attention of the enemy strike crafts allowing the "Linx" to focus its attention on the Vasari mothership, Devastators and the skirmishers. The "Event Horizon" pulling up just beside the "Linx" its laser cannons destroying skirmishers as they tried to do a attack run. The "Linx" fired wave after wave of missles at the encroaching Devastator with it firing a swarm of explosive nanites across both of their ships exploading on contact with the shields. The shield on the "Event Horizon" shrugged off the hit but the shields on the "Linx" held on just barely down to only 10% strength. Before the Devastator could attack the pair again it was struck in the side hard by missles from the missle batteries Miyuki managed to deploy from her carrier. With the Devastator now weakened by repeated missle strike, the "Linx" main cannons were able to punch two direct blows through the nose of the capital ship. The impact caused the ship to twist slighty before it was engulfed in an explosion. "Woohooo, and boom does the dynamite." cheered Setsuna watching the colorful explosion of the enemy infront of his ship. "Setsuna! watch out!" shouted Carbon as three skirmishers punched through the firery mist towards the "Linx" on a collision course. The "Event Horizon" quick reaction fired all of their autoturrets in quick succession easily taking down all three skirmishers but the wreckage slammed into the shields of the "Linx" with one huge chunck of it managing to slip past the shields as it flickered from the impact. The wreckage slamming into the bridge section of the "Linx". Setsuna watched the piece close in on his bridge window, crashing in sending glass and metal flying everywhere. The impact would wake him up from reliving that part of his past, his hand instantly reaching up to the right side of the face which remained a scar he received from that very same impact. Blinking a few times he sat up looking around sensing several minds on his ship and ships within his fleet that were new. Rubbing his head he pulled out a weapon and aimed it towards Casey. "Ugh....okay....identify yourself." His eyes regaining focus as the effects of the radiation began to wear off. Setsuna stood looking around spotting some of his other crew members missing" Focused on the console infront of her, Casy responded. "You can put that weapon down now, were not your enemies, were here to help. We received your distress signal not too long ago and we responded." Setsuna lowering his weapon and holstering it before he headed over to the console Casey was standing by. Looking over to Roesh who was working on a different station on the bridge before he looked back over to Casey. "Thanks for responding....who are you with and where are we by the way?" "Your located in a region of space called Distant Stars and we are the Free Traders here. If you require celestial data for this region of space, we can provide it to you." replied Roesh. "Im guessing none of this help will be free?" said Setsuna, checking the status of his crew and fleet. "Well, its not but we dont ask for much. All we request are the rights to salvage any dead ships you may have." Casey responded as she finished up the diagnostics. "Hmm... I'll take that into consideration, but first things first. I need to get my crew in order so that we can have all systems fully operational." said Setsuna as he reconnected the minds of all crew members from each ship who became conscious. It didnt take long before the fleet was up in full capacity. The shields and hull strength were first to be optimized as more able advent crew members awoke. Engines were being worked on but at only half capacity with only half the ships in the fleet. Some where still dead in the water but alot of progress was made with the help of the free traders. Once sensors were full operational they detected another fleet of ships quickly approaching. "Friends of yours?" asked Setsuna as he brought up the long range scans of the fleet that was approaching for Casey and Roesh to see. Setsuna recognized the Ue_ designation but couldnt quite remember why at the moment.
(DS Lore) "Friends..." Roesh says with a puzzled look on his face. "Well, I wouldn't call us enemies. We don't have any direct dealings with the Unified Explorers Corporation. Indirectly, we supply and trade with their allies out here in the Distant Stars, and previously, back in Trader Space." Roesh programs in a data link with one of his ships and uploads a copy of two sets of celestial data. "I'm updating your star charts with the originals for the area so you know where everything is at, and a newer set that shows where certain conflict zones are that you may want to avoid for the time being... And more importantly, where you can find us if you find yourself in need of supplies." "I wonder if I'll finally get to meet Carbon." Casey says after she opens up a communications channel to Todd. "Why do you insist on teasing me, Case?" Todd asks. "Just want to let you know we have incomming." "Hostiles?" "No." "Oh, friendlies, well that's good." "I didn't say that either." "Well who then?" "U.E. Hence the Carbon comment..." "Oh how very clever of you... Call me when you have something important." Todd says as he breaks the comm link. Roesh looks at Setsuna and shakes his head in disappointment, "Kids..." He then opens up a channel to Tim. "You getting the same sensor readings we are?" Tim replies, "Yes. I ordered the scouts to return the the grav well and scatter to give us a heads up to whom exactly is headed our way. I was just about to hail them on the comms to thank them for heading all the way out here and let them know we have the situation under control." "Hang off on that call until the scouts have a positive ID." "You got it boss." "Thanks, Tim." Roesh says and then cuts the comm. "Respectful, decisive, competent... Clearly, not a kid." Setsuna says. Casey looks up and shoots off a glare causing Roesh to laugh and say, "Clearly... My fleet admiral is not a kid." "Case, you wanna prove this guy wrong and send word to the engineers to return to their stations when the ship's own crew can take over for them." Casey stands up straight and tall and salutes, "Aye, aye, sir." and then gets on the comms to each station passing the orders along. Roesh chuckles again while Setsuna stands there not really sure of what to make of what he just witnessed. "So you work with Advent?" Setsuna asks. "And Vasari." Roesh replies. Setsuna closes his eyes and rubs his head right above them thinking about the UE and the name Carbon knowing he should know those names but just can't think of it right this second. He begins to drift off into his memories of the past. "You need a medic?" Roesh asks. "Hmmm...?" Setsuna humms out before popping back into the moment. "No. I'm fine." "My scouts should be making visual contact with the approaching fleet in a few minutes, any chance I could get you to poll your personnel and find out how many are duty ready?" Setsuna telepathically reaches out to his crews getting status updates on his fleet's condition. When enough information is given back to him he answers Roesh. "All critical stations are fully staffed." "Casey, poll our crews and security to see who is still working on critical componets and who is headed back to their ships." Roesh says. Casey stands up straight and tall and salutes again before doing what Roesh asked. Roesh chuckles again before commenting, "We'll make a soldier out of you yet." Casey looks up with a giant grin on her face. She winks and replies, "All stations have been notified to depart when their work is done, most are reporting back that they're heading home right now." "Good. We'll head out when all of our people are headed back." Roesh says. Setsuna nods in acknowledgement, still somewhat lost in his thoughts of the past and still receiving updates on his fleet's status.
"Sir, they are telling us they have it all under control"
A communication office reported to the captian of the Kol that was part of the fleet heading toward the distress signal that was now off. The captian of the ship was sitting in his chair. With out looking over at the man that was speaking to him he told him,
" You tell them that we just want to make sure that eveything is going ok, just a safety check is all. And we want to talk to all the advent in the area."
The captian had done many of these type of missions before. Go and 'check' on a certian thing, just to make sure it turned out the way you wanted it to. His fleet was not a large one, but still had some size to it. They where nearing thier destination, as they got close the captian spoke up again,
" Have all ships move into postion, move right away to board and take all advent here in for questioning, this includes all ships here, advent or not. We have no ability to know if any advent have moved aboard the other vessels. Have demo bots take out all ship engines so no one can get away before we get a chance to look inside of them."
"Yes sir" was the respones back from a few of the crew members
The captian sat and waited, soon his ships would be full of advent heading for the underworld.

"Things are holding, but Im gonna be honest here. Its looking bad." Gold said. The image flicked. The holonet network was becoming more and more unstable. Since the inital Iron outburst, the internal structure of the -Ue_ has fallen into a chaotic mess.
Xenon spoke up, " What I can gather from outsides sources, things are only gonna get worse. I have unconfirmed reports or a even larger swell of Vasari fleets heading for more -Ue_ space. Im guessing they might even attempt Proximus." Xenon fliped a few papers around " Advent wise by the way is too quite."
"Well propaganda has been heavy. Its only a matter of time before they pounce on us also." Gold said with a sigh.
"I also got a report of new contacts. I sent a Task Force to investigate. But long range Psidar suggest Advent." Xenon face showed no emotion, but both Gold and Carbon knew there was a smile inside there.
"Well gentlemen, I know we can go on for a good long while shooting the breeze. But we dont have the time currently. Gold I want you to prep for a major resupply point. Expect some vistiors." Carbon said rearranging a few things on his desk. "Xenon let me know how the test goes." looking up at the holoprojected image of Xenon giving him a stern look. "I better not come back or hear anything negative."
"Of course." Xenon said.
Gold gave a laugh, "Cant wait to hear how this goes. When should I expect you here Carbon?"
"Errrr....Braken is going ahead with the fleet. They are needed elsewhere for support. Shouldnt take the Event long by herself." Carbon said. " Without any major interuption I say a day or two."
"Be nice to see you in person again." Gold said.

In an effort to standardize TEC rankings as well as give players, new and old, a good general jumping off point for giving ranks to their people in the lore I came up with this list and presented it for all to view and refer to. Since then I've added more information to it to give people a rough idea for personnel and fleet groupings. Other races can follow these as guidelines as well.
Ranks by highest to lowest, given for Navy (Fleet where the RP is concerned)
1. Unified Commander - Held by people answering to the TEC council directly 2. Fleet Admiral - People authorized to form and disband navies within the TEC at will 3. Admiral - officers typically given command over entire corporate/national navies 4. Marshal - officers typically given command over large groups of ships/operations 5. Commodore - officers typically given command over medium groups of ships/operations 6. Captain - considered the upper level for basic command duties (can command small groups of ships/operations) 7. Commander - considered the mid level for basic command duties (command single ship/operation) 8. Lieutenant - considered the lower level for basic command duties (command single ship/operation) 9. Ensign - leads small groups of personnel, instructs them in their duties 10. Warrant Officer - provides guidance to 11 and 12, assists 9 in their duties 11. Petty Officer - provides guidance to 12, assists 9 in their duties 12. Seamen - the basic personnel of navies/armies 13. Cadet - Military personnel currently undergoing training, or are fully trained and waiting for their first assignments 14. Recruit - People signed up but have yet to be formally trained

General - officers typically given command over entire corporate/national armies 4. Colonel - officers typically given command over large groups of installations/operations 5. Major - officers typically given command over medium groups of installations/operations 6. Captain - considered the upper level for basic command duties (can command small groups of installations/operations) 7. Commander - considered the mid level for basic command duties (command single installation/operation) 8. Lieutenant - considered the lower level for basic command duties (command single installation/operation) 9. Sgt. Major - leads small groups of personnel, instructs them in their duties 10. These are purely for example and your exact set up can and may be different. The primary example being the -Ue_ who uses the same basic command structure, yet has all different names for each position. This set up is a generalization of what several real life armies and navies use, not all of them, so there's no need to complain that you use something different. We all already know it and understand it, and again, this is for example purposes to speed the creativity along so you don't have to constantly be looking around for information and going back through posts to compare what others have done.
they look good to me and as you pointed out can be adapted to certain internal structures (ex. Carbon is listed in the TEC records as Admiral Carbon, but in the -Ue_ would be listed and talked to as High Paragon)
