Its us again! Here to bring you yet another exciting community topic!!!!
This topic is dedicated to any stories, lore, epic poems, novels, Role Playing...anything your heart desires to share!!!
We are always up for a good read and are excited to see what you all create from DS.
We will be featuring hopefully some neat post in this orginal post every so often. Maybe be something we liked or we though it need attention! So, aim your Ogrov at that writers block and get your fingers typing!
There aren't any rules, but we do have some guidelines to follow so that we all can participate and enjoy ourselves.-There is really no limit on what you post just as long as it is Distant Stars related.-Most members are participating in a single large story with the occasional side story or two. While this thread is certainly not limited to just that story, for the benefit of all readers and participants, please begin your post with how we're supposed to handle it. (Personal Story) (DS RP) (Trader Space) Examples of this can be found all throughout the thread or by looking at this post. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/21/#2596003 This will help us all out by letting us know if you're trying to set yourself up to join the main lore, if you plan on just telling your own story, or if you're just writing lullabies for children to sing before they go to bed.-While we don't expect you to 'Play the game' in your stories, we do ask that you keep any liberties that you take be grounded within the game. For example: Talking about your space marines invading another ship is not something the game covers, so feel free to be inventive on how it would happen. However, carrying point singularity rifles that open up little black holes is beyond the scope of the game and will not be allowed. Soldiers with phasic armor that prevents them from being wounded let alone even being hit, while being relevant to the technology in the game would also not be allowed. The point is to be fair to the other people. We encourage you to ask yourselves, would this work in the game, and how would I feel if someone used this on me? If You feel strongly that it would work and you'd be okay with it being used against you, then by all means, use it. Fantasy posting, dream sequences, and April Fool's postings are of course, immune from this guideline.-We highly encourage you to message other members for help or advice. There is a TeamSpeak channel that is frequently used by the regulars to talk issues out or just shoot the breeze behind the scenes. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of these resources. Also, 'regulars' may send you messages with suggestions, concerns, or advice. It's nothing personal, so please do not be offended, they're just trying to help keep the lore consistent within these guidelines. If there's any doubt at all about anything, just message one of the people who you see posting a lot. If they don't know, they'll pass your message along to someone who does or tell you who you need to talk to.-It is also highly recommended that you message other RPers before posting anything involving their stuff. If you don't, you're likely going to find all of DS rising up against you.-In an effort to reduce clutter, we're asking that Out Of Character (OOC) commenting be either sent to the individual for whom it is intended by using the private message feature, or take it to another thread. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/366762 is a thread frequented by many of the lore writers and random comment posting about anything under the sun is highly encouraged there as well in an attempt to get the thread locked. Enjoy.

Some resources that we have spent hours, days, and weeks working on that will help out all participants in this thread. We ask that you look through these to help you better understand the region.-About Distant Stars- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/11/#2532381This post will give you a lot of basic information on what the region of space is like, how to get there, and who is there waiting for you.-Distant Stars Maps- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/23/#2604760This post provides you with a quick look at the region and provides you with a download link where you can get yourself a copy of the posted maps in their unreduced forms. They're very helpful when trying to figure out where to go and who you're likely going to run into when you get there. Maps of individual systems are posted throughout the thread. They're generally posted by the first person to explore the system. If you don't know if a system has been explored or not or want to see a map of a system that has been explored, ask around via PM or TeamSpeak. Someone will point you to the place.-Character Biographies- https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/372058/page/11/#2532380This post is a general collection of the main RP characters whom you will likely have contact with. We ask that all people posting in the main lore post their main character(s) bio as soon as possible so that the rest of us have a little background on who your character is, how they like to fight, where do they come from, and why they're there. Read the existing bios for examples on what we're looking for.

On my map, the Distant Stars are about 1000 ly away from Trader Space.
I have a qualm with placing Evertha as the capital of Veers' Empire. I explored in my timeline that Evertha was the co-founder of the Trade Order. It would have neighboured Alux for it to have started trade relations with the planet. I would definately place both planets in the Core Worlds region, and not in the Deuteri Backwaters, because it had such a central role and presently contributes significantly to the integrity of the Trade Order as a whole.
I'm going to write up some notes on the diet of the Trade Order in a while.
The Undying.
Continuing sort of on what Carbon said, while I've sort of fleshed out the Advent, it's not been very much. After all, my character's group is split off from the Unity, and is therefore a different faction to the other Advent. While I have introduced the High Psintegrat as the commander of all DS Advent forces, she is the antagonist for Thenos, and will probably wind up dead. So, even with me, it would be nice if there was someone writing for the normal Advent.
More precisely, the Advent of Distant Stars are the exiles OF the exiles of the Unity. While exponentially smaller in number than the main flock, there are still a lot of Advent. This is the same situation the Vasari are in.
I might consider listing some Advent ranks for clarity.
These are my ideas for the society of the Trade Order:
There is no official capital planet of the Trade Order. However, the planet of Helms Kol is considered the de facto capital due to it's extreme grade of development. It de facto became the seat of central government since the Prime Coordinator made his office on the surface. The world can be classified as a hyrbid of an urban planet and an industrial planet, and completely overpowered in urban planet terms. What is lost and gained here will HEAVILY revurbitate throughout most of human civilisation, but thankfully, that rarely happens.
The construction projects, research projects, military escapades and economic grades we are familiar with in the Deuteri Backwaters and the Distant Stars have evolved in favor of speed and cost-effectiveness. They take moments to complete. Back in the mainstream Trade Order, long-term projects with timespans of months, years or even decades are available, all costing so many resources that they are unavailable without massive coordination. When built, they dwarf the projects we pursue in games of SoaSE. For example, enormous capital ships show off as devestating centerpieces for equally enormous fleets, the skies of the core worlds are crammed with trade ships, and supersized gauss cannons quickly smash anything daring enough to enter their local gravity well.
The Prime Coordinator is a state leader of indirect authority. This individual is traditionally elected by a college of the most powerful aristocrats on Alux and Evertha. He/she can change interstellar law, point out the direction colonist convoys should migrate and modify war policy His/her most important function is to introduce mandates for how the Trade Order as a whole will develop industrially. The roles of the Prime Coordinator are among Oversector (the named regions seen on my map) Coordinators, while the power to modify development directly on the planetary level is delegated to local planetary leaders. Since the Vindrig War began, the Prime Coordinator is moving ever closer to the unclaimed position of Commander-in-Chief of the TEC military. The current Prime Coordinator is Amolo K. Saanct. The quiet rumor is that he is more concerned with money than actually governing the Trade Order. In the Distant Stars and the Dueteri Backwaters, a vacuum of direct state control has been filled with interstellar empires and other influential governments. In the more involved parts of the Trade order, the state is more major, and governments are almost always based on a single planet.
Actually, only Thenos and his little band of followers are exiled from the Unity. The High Psintegrat and all of the other Advent in DS aren't exiles from the normal Advent. They are connected to the Unity, and do serve the main Advent leaders back in the vanilla Sins universe. However, the High Psintegrat has her own little dream of seizing control of the entire Advent "empire," as shown in my weird psychological post back a page or two.
I'll probably do a character profile post soon, just to clarify all this.
And by the way, is there any way I could get one of the character portraits from DS as an image for my avatar? (No prize for guessing which one.)
(NO LONGER NEEDED, SEE EDIT FOR OP)
Alright, alright, let me clarify a few things.
I'm not sure why having the Advent and Vasari attack on the same frontline would be an issue.
I placed the Sins universe in the Dueteri Backwaters because it's filled with disjointed empires that are only loosely affiliated with the TEC. We never see a coordinated relief force from the main TEC appear in our games.
You're not wrong. I'll make corrections at some point.
The scale I've used is huge. The SoaSE universe, as a circle, is about 1500 ly in diameter. In any case, that circle was drawn semi-roughly. That's a LOT of stars.
I would disagree with placing the placing the playable Sins universe at the forefront of conflict. If that were the case, there would be no incentive for factions to act independently. The randomly generated empires we are familiar with would not exist; they would have broken down into cooperative planet-states.
I consider the Trade Order to be HUGE. There would be many scattered fronts isolated from the main front by 1000s of light years of unaffiliated territory.
I understand that games of SoaSE allow us to jump to pretty much any star system. But due to the scale of things on the front lines, deep striking would leave fleets cut off from fast supply and unable to assault the stable inner planets. Generally, a military cannot advance past it's supply lines.
Sorry, that's Vindrig Colonies, the font was meant for theme more than crystal clarity.
I suppose it wouldn't be a problem. If the -Ue_ are so vastly spread out, they will have chapters all over the Trade Order. From one of these chapters it seems, they came to the Distant Stars.
I agree. But I want to add that the TEC's central government would be focused on coordinating member planets, leaving actual government to local authorities. I feel that the framework of the Trade Order would be that of many, many planet-states of varying wealth, cycled through by numerous widespread commercial organisations as you say. The TEC was formed by an emergency wartime mandate.
That would make sense, but still the whole point of the TEC was to relocate the autonomy of member planets. Independent planetary security forces would be domestically based, while all foreign policy is controlled by the TEC command.
I understand that we're expanding Distant Stars lore and all, but my ideas of the entire Trade Order relate to the society of the Distant Stars. If the worlds of origin are a certain style, then it makes sense that terran society developed in the same style. But you're right, there is no active link between Distant Stars and the main Trade Order.
The -Ue_ is an exploratory guild. I didn't expect them to have incentive to claim large swaths of territory as their own, just claim the profit from discovering new territory.
There is a chance I've missed out data from the pages of this RPG. Dictate the systems and I'll look into it.
Character Profiles of Thenos and the High Psintegrat
Thenos
A 28 year old charismatic leader, who swiftly rose through the ranks of the Advent navy due to his immense psychic talent, soon becoming captain of a Radiance class battleship that would become known as the Revenge. He played a major part in consolidating the Advent's hold on their territory in Distant Stars. He is known to have fought the -UE_ only a few times, and so is unexperienced against their tactics. However, soon on his Distant Stars career, he was expelled from the Unity by the High Psintegrat, and was taken away, prisoner aboard his own ship. However, as a precaution, the High Psintegrat cut off the crew as well in the Daros system, a small area of space near to the TEC's territory in Distant Stars. Having taken control of the ship once more, and recruiting a small Advent patrol to his cause, Thenos founded what would become known as the Garran Collective, a seperate group of psychics, who had their own network of minds outside of the Unity. This civilisation was based on the desert planet of Rebirth in the Daros system, but soon expanded, and came into contact with other major forces in the Distant Stars sector.
The High Psintegrat
Supreme Commander of the fleet of the Flames of Vengeance, a militaristic subdivision of the Advent forces, the High Psintegrat was the first high ranked Advent to reach Distant Stars, and is arguably the discoverer of it. However, this title is hotly disputed. In the Distant Stars sector, the Flames of Vengeance have spread to cover a large portion of the sector, and it is suspected that they may control uncharted worlds beyond the view of TEC scouts. They have a strong military presence at Kyrene, but are suspected to have an even better defended fall-back point, possibly near a wormhole into Advent space. The High Psintegrat is well known for her incredible psychic talent, which has proved itself to have an equivalent strength to the combined psychic abilities of two Rapture crews. Obviously, this woman is a priority target for the TEC.
So, what do you think? Should I add more? Oh, and thanks to Draakjacht for solving my avatar problem.
New Jerusalem is fine for the homeworld, but I think the Yisrael System would be the best name. The other can be New Zion. My forces engage Vasari in all regards, but only Advent in a defensive fashion.
They are great! If you want, you could add a paragraph or so about battle tactics. Most of us did for fun and to help everyone know how each character likes to fight. You can refereance Ryat and Draaks character Bios for great ideas!
Confidential Report. Only to be opened by High Paragorn Carbon
Tactical Report from Suspected Skirmish with the High Psintegrat
Reporting Party: Special Forces Ambush Squad
The battle started in our favour. We ambushed a small convoy, suspected to contain the commander of the Advent in Distant Stars, known as the High Psintegrat, moving to Kyrene, consisting of only one Rapture capital ship, six Destra Crusaders and four Illuminators. We seemed to outnumber them, with two Kols and a Sova, and twelve Kodiaks, eighteen Hoshikos and six Cielos for the purpose of targetting accuracy. The battle begun with the launch of our fighters and bombers, which was shortly followed by the two Kols cutting off the convoy. The Kodiaks began attacking the flanks of the Rapture, while the bombers attacked the Destra Crusaders and the fighters attempted to take down the Illuminators. However, the strike craft had a tough time, as the drones of the Rapture cruiser had superior anima to our pilots. The Sova moved to engage the cruisers accompanying the Rapture, and succeeded in destroying several. However, our weapons teams suddenly began to feel incredibly nauseous, and suffered headaches of varying severity. We stopped recieving targetting data from our Cielos, and two of the Kodiaks began to open fire on the Hoshikos, while another two actually collided! However, the worst was yet to come. Looking towards our Kols, we saw one begin to move without the activation of its engines. There was nothing that the crews could do, as the first Kol sped, flung by some witchcraft, towards the second. There were no escape pods, no survivors. The Advent forces fled after this, jumping out of the grav well while we had to fight our own Kodiaks. Once they had left, the Kodiaks ceased fire, but the crew are no longer fit for duty, having suffered mental breakdowns. This day was a tragic one, with the loss of two capital ships, three Kodiaks, a Cielo and six Hoshikos, to a comparitively tiny force. This isn't the most disturbing thing though. The psychic-sensitive equipment you gave us to help with our witchhunt indicated that all of the psychic powers used by the Advent were coming from a single, large chamber aboard the ship, not from the bays where we have seen rows of psychics having to work in unision for the desired effect. Rumour among the crew, rumour that can't be dismissed, is that all of this destruction was wrought by the High Psintegrat herself, without help. I now beseech you to rethink your plan of attacking Kyrene. If this psychic monstrousity was to destroy your fleet, there would be little hope for the civilised people of Distant Stars.
End of Report
Dunno what you'll think of it, but I just thought I'd give an example of the kind of powers that the High Psintegrat has, and how heavily she relies on them in battle.

The map already exists; I'll update it when my work is out of the way.
As for joining the RPG, I only have character ideas so far.
The first character is -Ue_ Rhodium, but I don't have much on him.
The second character is a planetary leader hailing from the Core Worlds region. As is the case of any planet in the Core Worlds, his planet's wealth is immense, allowing to recruit and sustain a substantial navy. Bypassing his contributions to the war front, he can send his navy over to the Distant Stars for some sort of corporate interest.
( DS lore )
Xenon watched out his windows as flashes of blue light light up the edge of the gravity well. It was a good sign, showing that his fleet, that was small comparied to some of the others, had show up.
The Ammun Fleet had mostly been used for low key missions, back when the -Ue_ had been in a better position. Used to go in and hit and someone from the side, cause some havok, then get out. None of his ships where really fit for frontal assults of any kind, but he had decided to have them along since the Coalition was going to have a large fight on there hands. Maybe his fleet could just help hold planets after the Coalition had moved though. What ever Ryat decided for the Ammut fleet to do, hopefully it wouldnt be the leading edge of the attack.
Xenon moved away from the window, and walked toward his desk waiting for the messege that was soon to come. As he sat his mind began to wonder to the Advent again. For some reason, some thought... Xenon couldnt quite get why he was thinking on them so much. He hated the Advent yes, but in all of his prevous meetings with them, he had never felt the way he did now. He didecied to search his mind, to see if he could pin point where this feeling was comming from. As he saw the events of the past unfold before him, he came across his accedent. As soon as he came to this memorie the anger and rage started to build inside of him. The absolute hate grew till it filled him compleatly. He continued to look at the images in his mind's eye. The moment was about to happen, the moment where his life changed. The Advent man stood over Xenon in his mind. Xenon looked up to see the man's face..... Then the words CORRUPT DATA flowed across his mind's eye. Well damn it, Xenon thought as he came back to real life. i'll have to get the techs to look at that while we sit here, Xenon thought to himself.
( Bios )
United Explorers Corporation ( -Ue_ )
UEC started as a small company that would send its people to chart the stars. Their main mission was to be able to help humanity push to the edges of the universe. As the company got bigger, like any large company tries to do, they diversified. Their leading intrest was still exploration, but they now also indulged in ship research, Rapid colonization, Terraforming, Commercial goods, Weapons research, and Medical research. They had become succesfull and where inducted into the Trade Order. Though they had become the seat of power for the area, this success was not to last. When the Visari ships first showed, the corporation saw this as a way to make more profit though trade. This idea was soon shattered as the Visari smashed though Trade Order space. The Trade Order was not prepared for this hostility, this included the United Explorers. There world quickly fell to the alien invaders, as the weapons that they had created proved ineffective against the enemy ships. Times looked dire for the United Explorers, as they were forced to flee their planet of origin. But as the Trade Order pick itself up, so did the corporation. They joined the Trade Emergency Coalition, and with the help of their fellow brothers where able to push back the Visari and take part of their systems back. Things where looking up for the –Ue_ when another setback happened. The Advent had showed their face and where pushing the company back off of the worlds they had just re-taken. Even though it looked hopeless, the –Ue_ fought on. During this time the great divisions were made to protect and safe-guard the company. These great divisions guided the company back to a profitable standing, even amongst the war. There were 50 divisions in all, though only 16 remain today. The great leaders of the divisions are known as Paragons, with one Paragon leading all the others, the High Paragon. The position of the High Paragon moves as one has become un-able to do the task, another was chosen. The current High Paragon is the leader of the Carbon division, named _______________________. It was during this time that the board was also set up, to keep an eye on the High Paragon and make sure his actions where for the good of the company. It was during the begging time of the divisions that a worm hole was found, and eventually a scouting party sent though. On the other side was an untouched area of space, but it was far from where the –Ue_ was currently at, with the only means of travel to it was though the worm hole. The Board along with the High Paragon at the time, Aurther Hendiz, leader of the Lithium division, made the decision to move though the worm hole and relocate the entire company at this new location. This would give the –Ue_ a chance to restart and rebuild what they had once had. The United Explorers have been in this Distant Stars system since that time. They have since then become a force in this area, leading in colonization and military force. They are not the largest faction with-in the system though, as they have chosen not spread themselves thin once again.

(DS RP)
The next day brings the Red Fleet into the fold, Alexander collecting and tallying the numbers now under his direct supervision. To maintain ease of command, he maintains the two groups as separately operated bodies, Borovsky in charge of Blue Fleet and newly arrived Aronoff in charge of Red Fleet. Alexander relays the numbers of his men to the other heads in the system, attaching a special note to Xenon inquiring about fleet upgrades. He expects little to happen immediately, both with the Vasari Gate recently being worked on and the sheer numbers requiring the new technology.
Meanwhile, the new Akkan and Dunovs have brought the supplies necessary to allow the civilians of Eras VII to continue their rebuilding effort wihtout fear of famine or plague. Alexander gets on the comm with Captain Hollans and tells him, "Captain, your services have been invaluable in this arena, but your men have taken heavy losses. Seeing that further conflict is an inevitability, I am ordering you to return your men to Centauri Prime. I hope you have a safe journey."
"Are you sure, Admiral? We're not use to shooting at TEC vessels, but we're not afraid of a fight, even in this condition," Hollans replies.
"I understand," Alexander says, "but I insist that your men go. The fight here is getting complicated, but not in a fashion involving guns. My priority is to reduce unnecessary casualties, and that extends to your men as well."
"Very well. Hopefully we'll meet again, but under less hostile circumstances. Hollans out."
With that, the Centauri cruisers assemble at the edge of the gravity well and begin their journey back towards the wormhole. Alexander looks over to Lieutenant Commander Frishman, "Think I'll hear about this?"
"Sending home about three hundred vessels? There's a small chance of that," he replies.
Alexander turns back in his chair, "Well, I'll cross that bridge when we get there. Now that we have the Akkans, we can set up a supply depot if we need to. Hopefully Mr. Arnoldt and the Paragons have decided on a course of action."
