Well let me just say my favorite gaming genres are stealth based, real time strategy, strategy, fighting, and rpg (no specific order.) Tomorrow I might get a new game but really can't decided between the following.
Call of duty a world at war
Call of duty modern warfare 1 or 2
Left 4 dead 1 or 2: Well my cousin played these and said he really didn't like them; they felt to much like resident evil to him. I didn't ask him about the story mostly because we could give a damn about the story of any game as long as the action is grade A. For me to truly enjoy a game like this; it has to have top notch AI and and many different ways to survive other than picking up a gun and blowing the brains out of everything that moves.
dawn of war 2
diablo battle chest
Rogue warrior
Star wars force unleashed
Soul calibur: broken destiny
So any thoughts on which game will be better suited for me to get?
What platform?
All of those games are pretty bad/generic/didnt-stand-up-to-hype... well Diablo wasn't but it's really old
do you seriously need to ask me that? PC gaming!
Personaly I'd get Modern Warfare 1. One of the few new games that will run well on most PCs and looks good too. Try the demo.
yeah, MW1 was pretty good. But don't bother with MW2, it is a complete sucktacular console port.
As for MW1- the campaign is intrigueing, but not much value for more than 2-3 times playing through it. "Arcade" mode, unlocked after the 1st time through the campaign (any difficulty) is trying to score points (different kill types=different point values; ex.- headshot=70 points, melee=110 points, standard=40/50? points).
Overall, if the servers are still alive for MW1, it will likely get a lot of playability.
I've got all the Diablo series, great games. You can't go wrong with those and if you're just now getting into them by the time you run through them all it should be close to the release of Diablo 3.
The Force Unleashed is my favorite Star Wars game ever, it seriously kicks a lot of ass but I hear the PC version isn't that great. Get it on X-Box 360 or PS3. Make sure you get the "Ultimate Sith Edition".
Soul Calibur 2 is probably my all time favorite fighting game along with Street Fighter 2. For a fighting game the Soul Calibur series has a Amazing depth of moves and counters and once you get good at it you'll be able to say it truly takes skill to be good at.
If you listen to reviews Rouge Warrior has been getting terrible reviews, but, I think this has to do more with the fact that the lead character spits profanity with every other word which I personally don't have a problem with. I also don't tend to agree with a lot of reviewers on a lot of things and prefer to try them for my-self.
I may get the diablo battle chest; but is the online community still thriving? I hear it is full of spam and people looking to cyber and crap.
left 4 dead is the best one on the list, i think (though I haven't played diablo, so I can't judge that)
There's a lot of "Picking up a gun and blowing the brains out of everything that moves" though (especially in the 2nd one, where they upped the gore). I don't really know what else you could expect out of a shooter in a zombie apocalypse setting
I'd recommend it if you have a couple of friends that you can play with regularly, I think the demo's multiplayer, you should check it out
It's a mixed bag. Blizzard is still committed to maintaining the game, though. Patch 1.13 is in beta right now.
*Insert Sins of a Solar Empire plug here*
oh forgot to mention fall out 3
Every PC gamer should play the Diablo series, if only to say you've played it. It has a good mix of action and RPG elements. The Diablo battlechest is not worth the $40 that some places are still asking for it, but definitely about $25.
I'm a big fan of Dawn of War 1, but not so much DoW2. If you can get DoW2 cheap (and don't mind Steam), then go for it. Or, even better, wait until March for the "Chaos Rising" standalone expansion. (Unfortunately, don't expect "top notch AI").
DoW1 is on Impulse for like 40 or 50 US$.
From what I have read, DoW1 is far better than DoW2.
Fallout 3, or Diablo 2. If you can stand the dated graphics, many gamers still prefer Fallout 2, which you can get at www.gog.com for $5.99.
Diablo 2 I only play offline. http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/ is a good place to find out about online. And of course Arreat Summit.
Call of Duty:
- World at War: great multiplayer, rubbish single-player.
- Modern Warfare: multiplayer not as good as WaW, single-player not as bad as WaW.
- Modern Warfare 2: haven't played it, but I've heard it's pretty much like the first one.
Left 4 Dead:
- Original: great co-op action, *awesome* Versus mode (one team plays as survivors, another as infected), but single-player is lacking. Nothing at all like Resident Evil other than the fact that both have zombies.
- Second: only played the demo, but it sucked with the strenght of a thousand suns.
Dawn of War 2: very fun real-time tactical game. Keep in mind, though: tactical, no "base building" BS here, it's only you and your troops so if that bothers you, get something else.
Diablo Battle Chest: bleh, Diablo II is outdated as hell, not just in graphics but in gameplay as well. If you really want a dungeon crawler, go get Torchlight, it'll frustrate you far less.
Rogue Warrior: haven't played it, though Metacritic says it has an average score of 26 so buyer beware.
Star Wars Force Unleashed: haven't played it.
Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny: never knew there was a SC for PCs, gonna have to check it out.
Fallout 3: great RPG, like Oblivion but better, but the deal with the DLCs is kind of annoying (one of the DLCs adds the ability to continue playing after the final storyline mission, don't have it and it's instant "game over" for you).

Now, what would I recommend? if you have people to play L4D with, that easily, otherwise... dunno, if you're OK with the DLC thing, Fallout 3 is a great choice, and so is DoW2 if you aren't biased against tactical games. The CoDs are pretty fun for multiplayer, but they're generally overpriced as hell and, if you're spending that much money on a FPS for its multiplayer you're much better off with Battlefield 2.
No the soul caliber was for psp and I already got Diablo 2 so its over. I could care less about graphics of a game as long as the game is good. BBasically many people said doue to my criteria; I wouldn't like playing either l4D or l4d 2. I simply want more that just grabbing guns and shooting zombies; I got killer floor for that, and I barely even play it.
Diablo Battlechest is one of the few games I've bought and it's still fun. There are so many builds to try since v.1.10 where synergies was introduced.
I only play Diablo in SP though. Get MULE though. It's a program that lets you store all your stuff. Backup the files though since I've lost it two times due to harddrive failure
All my items....Tal Rashas weapon and helmet and The Heavens Light
