Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers? - Jean Luc Picard
Just noticed something today. This is on the release from 6 weeks ago not the brand new one. From the highest level map the aquatic planets always have the right icon. But zooming in on a D-class planet sometimes they are correct and look like D-class planets while other times they look like C-class or frozen planets. Just something noted.
The joys of a language barrier.
There is no way to disable a bank of weapons with an ability, nor a particular weapon.
The STA3 team will have simply skipped the problem, spawning pieces of the ships as new entities, that go poof when it ends. Disable and make the original invisible. The mechanics are simplistic, making it look good? No idea.
Edit: D class planets aren't aquatic. Mind rewriting that one?
Oops. I was hoping to impress with my Star Trek planet classification knowledge......fail. So aquatic planets from the galaxy view (icon) always look correct. When you zoom in on the planet, sometimes they are displayed like aquatic planets while other times they look like arctic planets. The planet population and everything else is correct just how the planet is displayed graphically. Hope that makes sense.
Any possibility of other planet types? It's fairly diverse now but an industrial (borg-type planet?) or forest type planets possible? Or other variation?
A couple days ago I was looking forward to the Legacy Pack update for this weekend; then you went all "Let's give them a full update and blow their minds man!" on us.
All I can say is thank you SOA2 Team.
backs out of the room slowly...
Looking closely at it I guess it's O class. Looked like a D to me.
Lets get our ships up to date first. Then we will talk about planets
As far as I am concerned, planets are done. I would rather our RAM go to more NPCs, or better existing model textures.
That ocean is 'dirty', not near as good as the other. One is defended by POS militias, the other, badass NPCs.
Installed the latest update but didn't have much time to play. The Z-1 does indeed look sharper. Nice.
Patch
Cloak effects for individual ships.
Continuing to love the mod guys, but I'm having an issue playing online. Both myself and my brother are getting checksum errors anytime we try to join each others games. I downloaded and installed the mods on both computers myself, so i know the versions are correct (0.7.0.1) I must admit it has me stumped. Is there a known issue or any ideas that may help? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the heads up Wolff. I will get together with a dev team mate today and test it out. please make sure...

Up to date on Steam
Both or none are on the Sins public beta.
Not trying old saved games
Just out of curiosity, do you join over ICO or LAN/IP connect?
It has been a long time since I heard of a connection issue, did you install from the same download? it is not uncommon for modDB DL's to get a little borked.
Edit:
My 0.7.1 ckechsum
108461607
My 0.7.1 with 0.7.2 patch installed checksum
109126125
Thank you Myfist for taking the time to help with my issue. Below are my responses in bold.
I run the Steller Phenom and Forbidden Worlds. I also have the SoA2 maps installed, but only on my CPU not my brothers. Do you recommend not running any of these?
yes
both 1.80
no
Running on ICO. The checksum error when he trys to join my hosted game is "The mods checksum differs from the hosts. Ensure that you are running the same mod and version."
He just doesnt connect when we try LAN/IP, but that may be a port issue that I havent further explored as of yet, as I am behind a router.
I installed from the same link from moddb on both CPu's.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/sacrifice-of-angels-2/downloads
2nd link down.
EDIT:
0.7.1
Checksum 108461607
That is correct. If both have that, it should work.
Not sure what happened, but we can play now. Perhaps some sort of steam update. Either way, today is a good day to die!!
May you die with honour!

I've noticed on large maps near the end game there are slight hiccups in the gameplay. Is this most likely because of the 2 GB RAM issue? My video card isn't great (560 Ti) but should be adequate.
Sins has some issues with the larger maps with lag, although SoA2 shouldn't be as bad since there are fewer ships and especially fewer fighters. Then again, my last Borg fleet had -4800 supply and -25 command points (with both fully upgraded, so something like 8000 supply and 41 capital ships), so those ship caps aren't exactly set in stone
It may be trade ships too, but again I'm not really sure; I just noticed it more often in Sins: Rebellion than in the vanilla game.
We try to keep the textures ether equal in memory usage to the Sins ships replaced, or a little less than.. In some cases a lot less. The ones that were a lot less. As in very low resolution. Are being overhauled to bring them up to date. However we are still keeping the 2 gig issue in mind. The late game lag is a vanilla issue. Being that even rebellion is a 32 bit game that only uses a single core of a cpu. There isn't very much we can do about that. We will have to wait for Sins 2 for multi core, and 64 bit.
Obviously the larger the map, the more memory is going to be used. Our goal is to match, or do better than Sins in system resource usage. So that any system that has no problem running Sins will have absolutely no problem running SoA 2.
The core issue effects lag a lot. If you have 4 (quad) cores, but they are all fairly small, sins only uses one of them. There are ways to put Sins on a specific core, and put other running programs on another, but that is not for this thread. Post in Sins general forum, or do a search.
We are still well under the 2gb RAM limit, so unless you have not enough RAM, that should be the issue.
Try turning off all the stuff that is not really needed, show trade ships, auto pin off, dust clouds, whatever else you can trim and still have fun.
Good luck.
Whoever is creating the structures for the different races kudos. The design seems to fit in well with the other designs for that race. Especially if they are being designed without some sort of Star Trek model history to base it on. They look very good.
The easiest way to find the credits is through the modDB SOA2 images. As I overhaul or add models, all credits are listed in the image descriptions. The readme lists who did what somewhat. The readme will eventually get overhauled to list every model and their creators.
Still more Borg ones coming. We need Dominion and Cardassian structures.
I've noticed X Class planets seem to have special abilities that aren't fleshed out yet. Thats a cool idea. What kinda plans do you guys have for these planets?

Trillane...
Hey folks, trying to get back into SoSE after putting it away for a year. Having problems enabling SoA though. I dl it, unzip it to the 1.80 Rebellion folder, load up the game go to the mods tabs enable it then try to apply and that's where the problem is. The screen goes black and there is an outline of the Federation insignia and then mini dump, I alt tab out and reload the game and it starts out with the same black screen with the Federation insignia and then loads up what sorta looks like a start screen with a random ship in the middle of the screen. Can be the Enterprise, Romulan or whatever random ship and if I hold down the right mouse button and move my mouse it will rotate the ship but there isn't any menu to start a new game or anything... I'm confused.
I've re downloaded the file 3 times now and the same thing happens each time. I run the game through Steam now I don't know if that matters... Can anyone help me out?
