Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers? - Jean Luc Picard
Oh boy. I wonder if its going to mess up the mods... again.
OK UPDATE TIME.
This patch WILL BREAK THE MOD!!!! We on the Soa2 team have been informed of the scope of the changes that are to come. Ic is simply rewriting the entire sins engine!!!!! With that means ALOT of stuff will change. We will be releasing a 1.041 compatible version of Soa2 shortly. But if you update to 1.05 the mod will not work. With that being said ALL MOD TEAM MEMBERS AND BETA TESTERS DONT UPDATE TO 1.05 . Once we can determine the entire scope of the changes, and have the apropriate tools to migrate the mod to 1.05 we will move forward. But for now we still work on what we have assigned.
thanks jtaylorpcs
I figuered it was gonna break it, basically expect it then if it doesn't you have a good surprise and if it does, knew that was coming anyway lol. At least they're upping the limits, thanks for listening IC. We'll just keep moving forward guys, can't do anything else, and not like we're gonna give up now lol.
Not again!!! OK, I don't care about normal SINS and I don't have Diplomacy yet... The only thing I'm waiting on to eventually play is this MOD, nothing else. I'm just waiting on you guys... so until you say otherwise I'm not upgrading here either.
Will the work you've done on the mod still be released or will you wait until you work out the changes that need to be done for the new patch? I haven't seen anything on the new patch. Perhaps I haven't looked hard enough. When is that coming out? Also, will we not be able to play online without the new patch?
I was afraid something like this would happen again
We will be releasing a 1.04 version of the mod as we have been working on. Hence the suggestion that you NOT UPGRADE unless you're willing to wait until such a time that we are ready to release a 1.05 version with additional content.
for those that want to update yet also have the current versions, all you need to do is copy your current program files \sins of a solar empire folder and all it's sub-folders to another folder and create a new desktop shortcut to it. the copied version still uses the current (1.181/1.041/0.95) mod folders and when the new patch is released it will use the new (1.19/1.05/095?) mod folders.
harpo
harpo comes through with a solution again! I mean, I don't know why I would update to 1.05 myself because all I do these days is play mods or single-player, so the changes are pretty meh BUT when mods start getting out 1.05 versions it will be cool to have all the 1.041 compatable mods to play still.
Also, Yay mod team! Go go go! hope your Beta's finish testing all that AI stuff out soon! You can Doo-eeet!
damn this sucks...
is there any way to upload seperate the patch 1.041? cause i get a new pc in some days and when then the new patch is already out i cant play the mod on my new pc...
is there any solution?
Do you need the new patch to play online?
I believe there is a Klingon proverb that describes how many of us feel about a new patch coming out and breaking the mod so soon after fixing things from the last one:
F*ck.
i just wanna say one thing...well a few things but sod it, just show my...and i think ALL our appreciation for the efforts your all doing for this mod...."LIVE LONG AND PROSPER"
Ship of the Day
Faction: Klingon
Class: D-12 B'rel (Bird of Prey)
Description: While lightly armed and armored, this class of vessel is ideal for swooping into the battle and inflicting startling damage while evading the fire of larger battleships.
Example Ability: Cloaking Device - technology that folds space around the ship to make it virtually undetectable by the eye and by sensors.
Ah... the B'rel... such a beautiful ship...
B'rel... wow. My personal favorite ship of all times... fast, light and oh so deadly, especially when the armor and such is upgraded. I like to bunch these into small squadrons and let then let them loose...
If I could have any ship in real life, then give me a small squad of these beauties over any big capital ship anyday...
Sigh.. They couldn't have updated the mesh and texture limits a month or two ago when all of this started? lol. Seems almost like a good example of closing the barn door "after" the horse escaped.
*Self-Correction*I guess I should have thought it all the way through first. At the time, they probably didn't realize the scope of the limits implaced by the textures and mesh's being what they were. Guess it's gotta break first before you know what to fix. Sorry, seem to be in a retarded mode today. Sigh.
(Okay, JTaylor and Mystic Angel get to make the official team posts, including any storyline, so to avoid interfering with their narative this is a 'renegade' post:)

SUBJ: BORG INCURSION INTO FEDERATION SPACE AND POTENTIAL ROMULAN INCURSION IN RESPONSE TO; NEW INTELLIGENCE REGARDING (S)

(4) Romulan Fleet staging for maneuvers; hologram of
Background:
Reference {a} was received by COMDS4 on stardate [redacted] and processed for immediate action. All vessels not undergoing extended maintenance have been activated or recalled and have begun immediate replenishment and weapons loadout. Reference {b} was received by COMDS4 on stardate [redacted] requesting all battleworthy starships to report to sector [redacted] for regrouping and likely counterstrike.
COMDS4 Discussion:
COMDS4 received confirmation from USS Alexandria (NCC-26831) that recall request had been received on stardate [redacted]. Estimated arrival at DS4 was reported to be 4 days. 6 days later, on stardate [redacted], USS Alexander Nevsky (NCC-37787) recovered one of the Alexandria's log buoys and transmitted contents to COMDS4. Analysis of the log buoy revealed that Alexandria was attacked by a borg vessel. Images from the bouy during its launch record the Alexandria's last moments and are included as enclosures (2) and (3).
It is COMDS4's assessment that the borg vessel responsible for Alexandria's destruction is a mobile platform for deploying a borg station or Unicomplex. Long-range sensor data from USS Greenfield (NCC-65510) and USS Hood (NCC-66531) indicate at least three other similar vessels may be encroaching on Federation space. Several of these vessels could construct a long-range transwarp conduit for borg travel into this sector.
All Romulan patrols along Romulan outposts 11 and 12 have ceased within the last 72 hours. COMDS4 believes that Romulan Command is aware of both the nearby borg incursions and the borg incursion discussed in reference {a}, possibly due to recovery of Alexandria's other log buoys. Tachyon Surveillance Post Alpha reports a fleet of 16 Romulan Warbirds (D'Deridex and D'Verix Classes) gathering along Romulan/Federation border, cloaking, and moving out of detectable range (image enclosed as enclosure (4)) COMDS4 suspects that The Romlulan 3rd and 6th fleets are preparing to enter Federation space to engage the borg vessels in order to make other locations, farther from Romulan space, preferable for amasing a borg fleet.
COMDS4 Request:
COMDS4 requests COMSTARCOM permission to belay the orders of reference {b} to dispatch all battleworthy starships to sector [redacted]. COMDS4 believes that retaining a military presence along the Romulan border is vital to preventing a Romulan incursion and/or allowing the borg to establish another foothold in Federation space. Response is requested within 48 hours.

ENCLOSURE (1)
Jack - I hate to do this to you, but there's too much at stake here. I've got borg encroaching along two sectors now and I've already lost one of my best starship captains to boot. I'm sure you remember CAPT Rob Goldstein from last year's light cruiser construction sustainability conference? That's right, he took over as CO of the Alexandria three weeks ago. Poor guy barely knew the bridge crew's names and now he's gone from the fast track to flag officer to pushing out a nebula.
On top of that, the Romulan regional commander has stopped responding to our hails. He knows something, and he's in no mood to talk about it. I hinted at it in the letter, but look: he's on track to make Imperial Senate as one of the Praetor's "enforcers", and unless I miss the mark he knows that we're ordered to send out all our ships. He's going to wait until we can't do anything about it, then send his big guns into our space to try and dust off that borg station before they start dumping cubes on the Romulans' doorstep. He comes off looking like a hero (not to mention saving the Federation planets in this sector), and making us look incompetent. If I play our cards right, I may even be able to work with him to take this borg station out before it's too late. Remember, the Mark VII cloaking devices they're using now are even supposed to be invisible to borg ships (remind me why you agreed to extend that treaty to forgo cloaks next time we talk).
I just can't spare my ships right now Jack. You've gotta come through on this one. I can send a couple: the Nevsky's already underway, and the Greenfield is right behind her. They're good ships, too, but I can't send you any more fodder and uphold my responsibilities here. I know you could pull rank on me for this one, but I think Starfleet needs our ships out here more. Just do me one favor, and think of all the citizens of Zeta Gruis before you make this call, please.
-Bill

Wow...
Also, Mystic Angel with the B'rel! My family actually had a christmas ornament B'rel when I was growing up, and you could plug it into your christmas-tree lights and it would light up the windows and engines and weapons and such. My parents still have it around, only now it dogfights with the wooden-cats-with-wings series each year.
I can't find the download link for the entrenchment SOA2 version?
Teridoc, my dad has 6 of those ornaments! A B'rel, D'deridex, Galaxy, Defiant, Voyager, and an old shuttlecraft. They are so cool!
and hdcamper, there is no download link for the Entrench version, as it hasnt been released yet.
ah well dern
thanks
Well we all knew a new patch was comming to make sins diplomacy compatible. The question was when. i guess the answer now.
Wrap up what you got done so far and release it. We will deal with 1.05 in good time which will mean another rebuild, but we have the foundation now so the rebuild wont be as bad.
My real life crisis is over. The RL crisis was my lack of a PAYING job, and being very close to being homeless. Both problems are now solved. I still need some time to recover, but once i do i can focus again. Ill let Jaylrpcs, and crew continue to handle the 0.4e series, and its updates. They have done an excellnt job with it so far.If Harpo can find a way to make 0.4e work with 1.05 without the epic failures of 0.3e then great. I guess we will only have a short time to enjoy 0.4e.
I will build the new 0.5os, E, and D series foundations once i recover. I will add everything i can from the 0.4e series.
Now that diplomacy is upon us (judging from the timing of the 1.05 patch announcement) a decision must be made. Do we want to make a port of SoA 2 for it or not?
The mesh, and texture increase was badly needed. Thank you IC.
Good to see you are recovering Major.
Take the time to recover
stress, if I have something to work with in the testing of the mod updater i will definitly focus on testing of soa as I am ex-starfleet (lt/cm(leutenant commander) retired).
Stress, good to see you're back on your feet. I agree the increase in meshes and textures is a great thing, but the timing couldn't be worse. Oh well. I blame Q.
As for the Alexandria... that intelligance report suggests that massive thing that took her out is a Borg Unicomplex contructor??? Wow! I guess it would have to be big to begin with, and it looks like it can defend itself, whatever it is... this is not good...lol...
